New way of life

"Mommy, daddy, do you really have to go?" I said as I saw myself standing. Weird usually I am in first person Point of view, but now I am in third, is this a sort of lucid dream then? I wonder what day this is?

"Yes, we do my love, we have work to do so we'll be leaving you for two months."(Mom)

"Two months is too much, can't I just go with you?"

"You know you can't miss two months worth of school, and we can't bring you with us to work now can we."

I look like I'm about to cry, I still can't quite figure out when this is. My mom hugged me tightly.

"Are you ready? (Dad)

"Yes dear. But it looks like Luis isn't quite ready to let us go."(Mom)

My father looks at me and then smiles.

"Come on, weren't you a man already, act strong and say goodbye," he says and pats my head, I nodded.

" I'll be going to the car, say goodbye to mommy okay?"

"Yes," he walks away. This seems to be coming back to me bit by bit.

"In that case Luis, remember to be a good kid while mommy and Daddy are out."

"Okay," 'Luis' says with a shaky voice

"And remember that no matter where daddy and mommy are they will always be thinking of you. Because no matter how far apart we are, remember that you will always be our son. Love you."

"Love you too. You will always be next to my heart"

'NO! DON'T GO!'

"Looks like you have learned the one thing I've taught, good boy!" she says as she embraces me. " Goodbye Luis"

'STOP THEM! YOU CAN'T LET THEM LEAVE.'

"Goodbye mommy"

The alarm clock sounds. I have some tears in my eyes, I wipe them away. Damn it! That's a horrible way to wake up. That day was the day my parents died in a plane accident. It seems that one of the plane's wind turbine failed and the plane crashed. There were about a dozen survivors or so... I'll go rinse myself with water. What does dream have to do with anything? It's already Friday and Mary arrived in Michigan like a week ago or so. So it's not like there's much cause for concern. Anyways, for now, I'll go out and jog and then have Tara's party. Today Tara has a somewhat difficult day in testing since she has two tests in one day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon and since it's the last day of testing she's extremely fucked. Well, actually, now that I think about it. Tara is the type who studies so it being the last day might have given her more time to study for the test...And last week she was complaining about college.

Anyways, for now, I'll just do my morning training until Tara calls since she said she will need some help carrying stuff back. Well, she'll be back kind of late since she will have a small party with her school friends so I will have until 8 or 9 or so to finish training and then we'll have a small party. I leave for my jog, which has now become a bit more of a sprint. I usually go at around 2:40 a kilometer along with some 10 seconds all-out sprints for 30 minutes. Why 30 minutes? It used to be the amount of time I ran before getting my powers so I'm doing the same now. I ran my 30 minutes and went up to the roof. I would usually do muscle preserving exercises but the spell preventing muscle from deteriorating work. The muscles of my body haven't gotten any weaker despite the lack of exercise I made myself go through this last month. I started doing my best to last till break which was like usual until 12 p.m. My powers are increasing gradually.

My wind slash spell has a range of 8 meters now, I can now do about 3-4 steps on the air, while my fire range hasn't increased as much, what has is my fire versatility. I can use many different types of fire spells. Whether it's binding, any shield shape or a trap-like spell I'm very versatile with it, I probably have a better affinity for fire then I do with wind. I can use muscle strengthening and fatigue-relieving along with either wind or fire. I still can't combine fire and wind magic though, it's a bit too hard and I'm not sure what would happen either. Wind itself is stronger against single opponents if you ask me, Fire has a wide range but short range, so it's great against many opponents up close. Basically a somewhat good balance. I kept on training until I was close to mana depletion. Well then, time for some free time. I went to get my phone. I usually leave my phone in the stairs since I don't want any stray spells hitting it. I don't get many of those, but it's my phone I don't want to break it. Right as I thought that I ended up kicking my phone which made it drop all the way down the building. What did I do? Just watch.

What the fuck. And I probably could've slowed it down with a little bit of wind magic, I mean I don't have that fine control over any of my elements, but I could've tried. I reach the bottom of the building to look at my phone. Yep, this shit is completely broken. Where am I gonna watch my anime now! Goddamn it! Well, for now, a bit more of a pressing issue. How am I suppose to help Tara out? She didn't tell me where she was gonna be for her party and she's supposed to call me after she's done to help her carry some stuff back to have our little celebration party. She'll probably be pissed... Fuck it, nothing I can do about it, 'leave tomorrow's problem to tomorrow's me', or in this case, I guess this afternoon's me. I'll just pass my free time with a little nap this time and then I'll wake up again in three hours and finish the rest of my training. I take a nap, wake up and start my training.

It's close to 9 now or so I think, I'm not sure I just know it's dark, I'm almost at the limit of my stamina and magic and Tara appears. Darn, I can tell she is mad just from a bit of sensing. She's waiting things out, is she waiting for me to be completely tired from mana depletion so I'm more vulnerable? Well, I'll do just that for now. I finish my training and sit as Tara approaches me.

"Why did you turn off your phone? I called you but it said that your phone was 'off or disconnected.' I know your phone isn't disconnected, so why did you turn off your phone? You have no idea how hard it was to carry the things I brought back. I'm honestly tired from partying and carrying those bags, was it so hard to try and help me?"

"On the plus side, you gained some muscle."

"Luis!"

"My phone fell off the side off the building and broke. So I didn't turn off my phone, it just kind of broke."

"You couldn't stop it with your magic?" a little less angry

"I don't have that type of fine control over my elements."

She sighed.

"Even if that happened I'm still not forgiving you," she said clearly not mad. " So, in turn, you will have to feel the same way my muscles feel now."

"If you wanted to I could use fatigue relieving magic and help your muscles."

"Thanks but no thanks, if I did it would count as you paying back for you clearing your own misunderstanding so I will keep my muscle fatigue. Instead, I have something else planned. Follow me"

She turns around and heads down the stairs. I follow behind her a bit fearful, we enter the house.

" You will carry all of that in your hands with no use of magic to the park where we will have our little party."

She said as she pointed at two trays worth of food, and 2 liter of soda and some plates with fork and knives. We have this much food due to the fatigue relieving magic. Normally this would be an easy task but I'm tired beyond belief, so this is what she meant in feeling the same way. Well, whatever to appease her I guess. I grab the trays and the soda, damn this feels heavy as hell.

"Alright then, follow after me."

We headed three blocks down to a park illuminated with some light. There wasn't anybody here so it was perfect for a winding down party. I put the things down on the chair and sit down.

"Damn it, that was tiring."

"It was, wasn't it?" she says with a bit of a knowing tone. Well it was my mistake so it's fine

"But alas, the last day of school."

"So much shit has happened this last two months."

"I guess so."

"... Don't you think it's about time we got to the bottom of this element thing?"

"The reason why I have my powers and stuff?"

"Yes. It might be fun trying to find out."

"I think It would. So let's try our best."

"But for now, let's enjoy this party and the rest of summer."

I open the soda and serve us both.

"I guess so. Summer is the season of fun according to anime after all." I say as I drink some soda

"And love."

I spit out y soda in surprise and start coughing. After I finished coughing.

"So you were the one who gave Mary the incentive, huh"

"Whatever you may be talking about... Plus having a girlfriend has its perks, you know making out and making love."

"Always with the pure thoughts. Also, why did you say it like that"

"What?"

" 'Making love', couldn't you have said, 'have sex' instead?"

"But there's a big difference."

"Really, what?"

"What do you think the difference is?"

I think about it for a second and I arrived at two conclusions. The first one is the serious way to answer and the second...

I giggle

"50 dollars."

At that point, Tara and I started laughing so hard. After laughing for about two minutes, Tara stops first.

"That was good, but it's the wrong answer. So as punishment, go bring us a table to eat"

"But-"

"And when you get back you will have a serious answer to my question."

I could say something back, but whatever.

"...Okay"

I leave for our apartment in order to bring us a small table Tara has in her room. I find the table and head out. As I'm walking back I sense a presence next to Tara. What's going on? The presence then moves its fist to her stomach and runs away. I then feel Tara's presence slowly fading. I drop the table and run towards Tara enhancing myself as much as I can. I arrive at where Tara is and she is bleeding from her stomach, she has a big cut on her.

"TARA!!"

I sprinted up to her and immediately start using healing magic. HEAL! HEAL! HEAL! HEAL! HEAL! HEAL! I don't have enough magic, I used it all, she won't make it

"COME ON TARA! YOU CAN'T DIE HERE!" I feel myself tearing up."Weren't you gonna help me with my elements' strengthening! Weren't you gonna help me find out the truth about my power," I started crying.

Tara starts moving her lips trying to say something, it's faint but I can hear it. I get closer, hear what she had to say and then Tara died in front of me.
