Chapter 7

As the elevator doors opened, I saw a huge room or more like a tunnel with black slate flooring at the end of the room; stood two steel doors in front of it were two guards dressed in tuxedos with matching shades, both armed with Atchison assault shotguns. Security cameras were everywhere, all angles covered, probably 80%of the room was composed of it, Zero and the boss stepped out of the elevator first while I trailed behind them. The three of us went straight to the steel doors, I could feel all the cameras watching our every move. When we got close the guards lowered their guns and bowed

"Good Evening boss."

The guard on the right greeted, the boss nodded in acknowledgment

"Who's this?!"

the guard on the left asked while pointing at me

"A new member," Zero uttered looking bored

"but she's barely 16?!"

the guard on the right exclaimed,

"She put this upon herself, it's her own downfall." The boss stated while I facepalmed

'Didn't she threatened me in joining?' I thought and sighed,

the guard on my right pulled out a control panel and pressed a couple of things; behind them, the double steel doors made a loud creaking sound as they opened

"After you,"

I heard Zero say in a gruff voice beckoning me to go first.

I slowly moved forward anxious about what lies behind those ominous, iron doors, I entered the room and was met with total darkness

"Can you guys turn the light on?"

I heard Zero commanded behind me and the room lighted up, what I saw made me facepalm… again, for what lies beyond was a dead end.

There was no door or anything, just a brick wall, I look left and right trying to find anything but to no avail, the whole room was empty. I look behind giving both the boss and Zero a confused look

"There's nothing here!!" I exclaimed

"Take a closer look bunny, I think you're missing something." Zero pointed out coming up to me,

I pouted but went up to the wall touching the wall with both hands; finding a button or something, suddenly two white spheres came out from nowhere and scanned me from head to toe before I could react; I hear Zero say behind me

"Not there bunny, it's right here." He kicked me forward and a chute opened in front of me. I screamed my butt off for the next ten minutes; I landed with a loud thud "ouch my butt!", I groaned in pain as I rubbed my upper thigh, the pain vibrating through my upper body from my back I heard the sound of elevator doors opening "What the hell was that FOR!?!?" I asked Zero full of anger by his betrayal as I turn back to face him, he only smirked, amused by his little doing "A good way to screw with newbies." He said apparently enjoying himself.

I slowly got up and noticed my surroundings were different from before; the walls were covered in marble, the floor was made with black slate and lastly, the hall was decorated with marble statues, at the end was another 8ft tall steel doors. My eyes widen as they passed me by

"Stop gawking it makes you look even more stupid than you already are," she remarked making me pout,

Zero laughed and beckoned me to follow them. We walked through the long hallway and as creepy as it sounds, I could feel the statues watching me; I shivered at the feeling but shrugged it off.

We arrived at the end of the hallway, staring at the 80ft steel door wondering what lies behind it. I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't hear the boss calling me

"Come on kid, I don't have all day." The boss said irritate while walking to the left corner, I gave her a confused look.

"We're taking a shortcut." Zero stated when he saw my confusion,

the boss pressed something on the wall making another sphere-like thing from earlier appear and scanned her from head to toe; there was a loud beep before a hidden door opened and inside was another elevator.

I groaned

"how many secret doors does this place even have?!?" I questioned out loud making Zero chuckle

"more than you could ever count." He answered,

"Come on slowpokes, I don't have all day/night." The boss stated, arms folded, and was already inside the elevator, I and Zero hurried to the secret elevator making sure not to anger the boss any longer. The whole elevator ride was peaceful but that doesn't mean to let my guard down, especially if the person I'm stuck with is the 3rd mafia god and her assassin; I still kept my senses on high alert. The elevator dinged and opened its doors after the next 5 minutes, I went out first to see a renaissance themed room.

The walls were lined with shelves with different books in it, at the center was a piece of black luxurious furniture with a glass center table at the end of the room was a dark oak desk on top of it was a cat; the same cat I saw on the portrait when I first got here. Currently, it was just lazing around but when it saw me, it hoped down from the table and stared at me with its judge eyes; after a few minutes it meowed loudly and came to me; I felt uneasy on the furry creature and took a couple of steps back

"what's it doing?" I panicked as the cat came closer

"it's either going to like you or probably going to bite your leg off." I heard Zero say with a bored tone,

When the cat got near, I closed my eyes waiting for my awful fate but I felt something rubbing my right leg; I looked down to see the tabby cat purring while rubbing his head on my leg. I kneeled and petted his head; it meowed and purred

"well, this is unexpected." The boss uttered as she went to her table "he usually hates people and when someone tried to pet him, he usually bites or slashes the hand away." She informed while finding something in a drawer, the cat continued to purr while climbing to my lap, when I stood up I cradled the cat like a baby but he sure doesn't hide the fact he likes it. "Here it is."

The boss raises a key and tossed it in my direction, luckily I managed to catch it while being careful to not let the cat fall. "Zero will you be a dear and escort her to her new office" the boss commanded

"Of course, we don't want the little bunny to be eaten by a pack of wolves wouldn't we." Zero resorted and walked to the door but stopped when he saw I wasn't coming

"Let's go bunny." I nodded and dashed to him after putting down the cat

"do me a favor kid and not die on the first day, it would be a pain if we had to dispose of your body right away." I hear the boss uttered behind me as I was out of the room, the cat trailing behind.
