“Are we going in there?”

Jeremiah sounded weird, but Ivan ignored it. He simply continued on his way toward the jewelry store.

“I’m going to buy Darren a ring.”

“You’re proposing?” Jeremiah and Thomas yelled at the same time.

Ivan would have laughed at the twin look of amazement of his friends’ faces if he wasn’t feeling so nervous at the moment. “Yes. I…I’ve never thought about it in the past, at least not in details, but it makes sense. Right? Darren and I have been together for nine years now. It’s time to make it official.”

“Do you even know the size of his ring finger?”

Ivan nodded at Thomas. “We’d bought a pair of promise rings together a few years ago. That was almost seven years ago now. Darren will be shocked later tonight.”

“Oh, he definitely will be,” Jeremiah muttered in a strange tone of voice, and Ivan turned toward his best friend.

He narrowed his eyes when Jeremiah had an extremely guilty expression on his face. “You’re hiding something.”
