A Taste Of Divinity.

Multiple azure eyes split open all over the charred glob of flesh. They peered up into the heavens and enshrouded the sky in a deep shade of violet mist. Illusory chains phased in and out around the charred glop of flesh. They soared into the air like a swarm, constricted around the giant golden eye hanging above and hauled it towards the ground.

"Emperor!!!" the soldiers screamed and rushed in.

A rare trace of fear flashed across the golden eye as it crashed down below. Fleshy tentacles sprouted out of the charred glop of flesh; they curled around the eye and sealed it in place. The eye ruptured open and poured out golden blood when the mass of tentacles burrowed themselves deep inside. Then violet tendrils tunnelled out and slithered across the eye, enclosing it within a cocoon made of blood.

Selena walked towards the giant blood cocoon with Celeste in her arms.

"Where is Vincent!" Hertha cried. "What happened to him!"

"Shut up and follow me," Selena said.

"Selena!!! It's dangerous!" Nathaniel grabbed her shoulders.

She turned back and glared at him, "Know your place!"

"So..rry," he scowled and released his grip.

A fleshy growth protruded out of the blood cocoon, paralleling a disfigured mouth. It opened and closed, the sound of metal scraping against metal blared out, "P..ut h...er dow..n her…., a...and don't let the..m disturb us."

"Yes!" Selena said.

Celeste looked on with wide eyes as her mother placed her next to the giant cocoon and backed away.

"M...y lo...vely daugh...ter, have a taste of divinity!" the mass of flesh vomited and showered her in a stream of golden blood.

Her eyes lit up in delight as she was submerged within. She curled herself into a ball; blood squirmed and snaked around her body until a small red cocoon enclosed her like an egg.

"Break open that thing!" Kendall gave out the command.

The nearby soldiers converged and boxed them in from all sides. Three of the soldiers broke off from the formation and rushed towards the giant blood cocoon. Was it overconfidence, or was it having absolute faith in their comrades?

Selena's emerald eyes flashed with golden light; she unsheathed her sword and threw it like a javelin.

Swoosh! The sword zoomed in with absolute precision as it aimed at one of their throats.

Clash! The enemy changed the trajectory with a simple swing of his sword.

Rip! But instead of his throat, it went straight through his eye.

"Ahhhh!" the man shrieked as he sank down, never to rise again.

His two comrades flinched and stopped in their tracks. She slipped in between the two and grabbed one of their blades with her bare hands. Then with a sudden twist, she flipped it up and bashed the enemy's head with the pommel.

Crack! His skull caved in from the impact. She kicked him down and threw that sword at the remaining enemy.

He tilted his body, rolled over to the side and made a dash towards the encirclement of the soldiers.

Swoosh! Selena rammed at him and threw a solid kick right below his chin.

Crack! His lower jaw broke off. Blood flowed out as his mangled tongue flapped out on one side. He fell on his knees and grabbed the lower part of his mouth, intending to stop the bleeding but to no avail.

Guttural sounds distorted out of his throat as Selena placed her hand underneath his upper jaw.

Crunch!! She tore it off. Tore off the head; a part of the spinal cord was still hanging from it for all to see.

Selena threw it away, walked up to the first enemy she killed and pulled out her sword from his eye socket.

"Princess! These are our own men!" Kendall bellowed.

"Anyone who points a sword to my family is an enemy," she said.

"Your family!?" He sighed. "You are truly lost in the head. Men! Don't hold back! I will bear the consequences."

She picked up the other swords left behind by the fallen and hurled them into the enemy's ranks.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Clang! Their formation fell apart. She took this opening and dived into them, lopping off two heads in motion. The heads spun and sprayed them all in blood.

Boom! A Fireball exploded on her breastplate. She took several steps backwards until she plunged her sword into the ground, transferring the force of the impact.

Two men with flames revolving around their palms arrived on the battlefield.

"Selena!" Nathaniel ran up and supported her. "You still have yet to recover!"

"Then kill the mages for me!" she shouted.

"Gladly," A silvery glow blanketed his sword when he spun it in a circle.

The eyes of the lion-head pommel drew arcs of light as Nathaniel charged at the mages. A barrage of fireballs greeted his advance. He slashed them apart one by one, but the shockwaves still collided with his body, shrouding his figure in thick black smoke.

Then, a sword light burst out from within. It pierced straight through one of the mages, chopped him in two before shattering in the wind.

Boom! Nathaniel rushed out of the smoke. Deep grooves formed along the path as he rammed into the other mage and pierced his throat.

Swoosh! Two swords came from his flanks. He turned to his right and leaned on the side; the sword slid past his shoulder. Then, enclosing an arm around the blade, he locked it in and seized the enemy's throat with his other hand.

Crack! He broke the enemy's neck and waited.

Waited for the other sword to pierce him from his left flank.

But it did not arrive.

He turned his head and saw a blade was impaled inside the chest of an enemy whose sword was inches away from his own waist.

"I knew you would come to my aid," Nathaniel said. "We are still the same in this regard."

Selena pulled out her sword and commanded, "Shut up and focus."

The enemies paused momentarily before rushing straight at them. Thus, they enacted their dance of swords amidst them; blood and flesh were sowed across the battlefield as the duo continued their onslaught.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

The hearts of everyone, regardless of an ally or an enemy.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Palpated, and their bodies felt heavy.

They all stopped to look at the source of their fear. Then their eyes landed on the giant blood cocoon pulsating inside the crater.

Finally, a faint crack encircled the shell of the cocoon, and with a slight ripple, it finally hatched.
