The one that hides its power

The mysterious figure carefully made its way towards the human group standing several feet before it.

Without skipping a beat, Greg propped his weapon up and aim it towards the mysterious figure slowly inching itself towards them. Igor caught on what's going on and readied himself aiming towards the creature that stands on the perimeter wall instead, then the rest of the group readied themselves too and formed a small circle.

Mysterious figure: Good reaction, but should you really be aiming that weapon at me?

its hand slowly reaching for its hood and slowly pushing it back down. Then both its pointy ear now came into view only slight cover by its silver hair that trail all the way to its back and his skin as pale as the moonlight.

One of the villagers realizes what the mysterious figure is and now gripping their weapon so tight that blood starts dripping from its handle.

Villager 1: Its a vampire!!!

yelling towards the vampire while gripping his weapon tighter.

Then the rest of the villagers followed suit.

The vampire let out a small chuckle as it is amused by what he heard.

Vampire: Are you still aiming your weapons at me? I honestly don't know what you people know, but those weapons won't be able to wound me much more kill me.

His hand made a small gesture before slowly reaching it out in front of him, a tiny shimmer slowly manifested under his palm, then the shimmering light solidifies into a silver dagger that's seven inches long. The sharp tip pointing towards the creature standing atop the perimeter wall across from him.

Then as if it was on queue a heavy set of clouds slowly casing the clear sky like it's about to rain, the creature quickly noticed what's happening and let out a deafening roar then jumped over the fence. Running across the fields and quickly vanishing into the woods.

The villages exchange looks and finally looked at Greg and Igor, both looked confused. Then almost as they have forgotten that there's another creature with them. A mist quickly passes all of them and quickly reaches the top of the wall.

Vampire: *tsssk* lost him again huh?

shaking his head with annoyance, he then let go of his dagger. As the dagger falls down it shimmered for a bit before fading into nothing.

Greg: Who are you and what do you know about that Albus?

still pointing his weapon toward the vampire.

The vampire jumped down from the wall and slowly walking towards Greg and his group, cautiously the group still have their weapons at the ready in case this vampire quickly jump them.

Vampire: Ah, I forgot you guys always mistake them for wolves. Well, let me tell you that wasn't an Albus or whatever you call it, but rather a moonling.

Greg: Moonling? Are you telling me that's an elf?

The vampire quickly noticed what the human just said.

Vampire: How'd you know about elves? I never once mention moonling are elves?

Now, this creature clearly intrigued on that piece of information, not so many humans have known elves existed, better yet, seen them in the open and lived.

Greg: My grandfather once told me about elves he saw in the woods while hunting when I was a little boy.

Vampire: Hmmm, is that so?

Greg: And why does a vampire hunting moonling anyways?

The vampire noticed that they are still aiming their weapon at him and somewhat amused.

Vampire: You seriously need to stop aiming me your weapons, if you really think I'm a vampire those weapons won't do anything to me. And please don't call me a vampire, I haven't heard that word in awhile now, but I want to correct you in your honest mistake. I'm not a vampire as what you humans mistook me for but I'm an elf and my name is Vladimir.

The villagers looking at each other rather confused.

Greg: So you're telling me that you and that thing are elven?

Vladimir: In a sense yes, you are correct, that's why I'm here to hunt it down. Moonlings are a special case that only happens when an elven baby is born under intense moonlight which only happens once in several years, but the issue in hand is that I'm here to hunt it down before it finds a mate and copulates.

In the middle of Vladimir's rambling a patch of clouds in the sky is clearing up and you can see the moon peeking in, the moonlight gradually shines where the elven is standing. Little by little, the moonlight shine on the elven, and every part of its body that's covered with the light are somehow invisible. Then the moonlight moved on and the elven was visible again.

Greg was awestruck by what transpired in front of him. The people behind him and started shuffling and wasn't sure how if they're dreaming or not.

***********

Alek and the group of surviving villagers slowly making their way to the gate when they heard another loud roar coming from the gate.

Alek: That is getting louder, we need to hurry.

Alek started running while gesturing something and everyone started running as well.

A few moments later the wall and the broken gate slowly came into view, he noticed that a group of people is standing in front of something. But they couldn't find the creature who was making that loud noise.

As they are getting closer to Greg and his group, Alek finally noticed that the thing standing in front of Greg isn't human, looks like a vampire.

Alek immediately started shouting at Greg.

Alek: GREG. Move away, its a vampire.

Greg turned around and started waving at Alek in a calm manner and gesturing to come closer.

Alek noticed that the creature wasn't hostile towards Greg and his group, he motions something to the villagers behind him and they dropped their guard and slowly went around to check the area instead.

Greg noticed what Alek did, he then motions the same thing to the villagers behind him and started working on the broken gate.

Alek finally reach Greg and the creature in front of him

Greg introduced Alek to Vladimir and started explaining what was happening.

The conversation lasted for hours, the sun actually started to rise and slowly peeking behind the mountains.

Vladimir: I have to get going, it's already morning and I have to give my elders the sad news. Just promise me you didn't see anything here or we all be in big trouble.

he taps Greg and Alek's shoulder.

Vladimir then started to be engulfed in black mist and his shadow has gotten wider on his foot. He then slowly being swallowed by its own shadow and finally completely consumed by it. The shadow slowly dissipate leaving without a mark except for a few veils of a mist of black smoke that escaped the shadow on the ground.
