4~Darkness But Suspicious

The corridor was engulfed in darkness.He walked straight and found numerous locked doors on either sides.Soon his eyes got used to the darkness .The doors had beautiful carvings on it.The walls were made of stone which made it look old.

Luca couldn't reach the end of the corridor no matter how hard he tried.He kept on walking until his legs started giving out.He bagan to feel like he was walking in circles.He examined the doors and found different carvings on each of them. Some had carvings of nature while some had religious symbols.A few of them even had distorted images of humans and animals.

They weren't to Luca's taste.

He walked towards the door with the carving of sun.He could hear laughter from the other side.He tried opening the doors.The doors seemed really heavy but they opened with ease.He was blinded by the sudden light.It took him a few seconds to realize where he was.

The scene that welcomed him was unexpected.The morning sun was shining above the running children.There were at least twenty of them.There were toddlers,young children and a few teenagers.The diversity was immense.

He found the woman and two men who tended to him among a group of grown-ups who were doing chores.Some were tending the gardens.Few of them were putting clean laundry on cloth lines. An old couple were sitting under the shade of a huge tree which he haven't seen before.The lady was taking a nap while the man was knitting.

The scene reminded him of a book he had read before.The story was about another world where the protagonist spend their time in an orphanage after being abandoned by their parents.In the end,they realized that their parents didn't abandon them,but was kidnapped by the orphanage because the founders of the orphanage had no children.The story was terribly dark for a six year old to read.The author didn't mention the gender of the protagonist,and still,sometimes before sleep,he would wonder what it was.

He was soon brought to earth by the happy laughter and constant chattering..They still didn't turn around to look at who it was. Luca started questioning his presence.

The courtyard was spacious and had a touch of greenery here and there.Opposite to him was flight of stairs going both downwards and upwards.

After taking another brief look around,he cleared his throat that brought the attention of the teenagers who was basically doing nothing but staring at the sky.Within a few moments almost everyone in the courtyard was staring at Luca(except the toddlers and the napping lady).

The woman who fed him came to him.

'What are you doing here?'

The others were looking curiously at the sudden appearance of a child.Their faces said that they have never met Luca before. Luca confirmed his suspicions that no one was aware of his existence and his stay at the room for two months.His suspicions about the whole thing grew.He wanted to ask about his parents,where he was.A load of questions came crashing to his brain.

Before he could say anything,his stomach growled;

'I am hungry.'
