"How dare you, you can't just come and take things for free!" Jeremy raised his voice in anger and Bernard held up his hand to stop him. "But sir-"

"No problem," he said and looked Cale in the eye. Cale knew he was expecting a more satisfactory answer, but the smile on his face made the other man hesitate.

"Alright, I'll give you the two elixirs you asked for."

"I will gratefully accept your kindness," Cale said, and a muscle in Bernard's jaw twitched, realizing that he was not going to pay him.

"Whatever," Bernard sighed, turning to Jeremy. "Bring the elixirs."

Jeremy, though uncomfortable with Bernard's order, did not disobey him. He looked at Cale's smiling face with icy eyes before leaving the room.

"Too aggressive," Cale said in mock surprise and Bernard smiled nervously, feeling like his patience was being tested.

"Stop picking on him on purpose. He's a petulant child and you'll be the one who suffers in the end."
