Several different screams and muffled sounds were echoing in a fairly large room. Some laughing, some crying. The room was filled with different emotions.
"HEY WHEN IS IT MY TURN TO GET PUNISHED?!?!" One screamed out as he wanted to feel more pain.
"SHUT UP!!" Someone screamed at the idiot.
The building was full of different people of all types. Normal people or crazy people, they all had one thing in common though. A strange ability that none have seen before. These people are experimented on to understand how to clone or to figure out their weakness. These people are all ages, young children, teens and mostly adults. They all are put through endless hell for being 'mutated freaks'. They all held up in chains that drain all their energy and abilities dry. However one that isn't effected is in constant misery and hell. The one creature is no 'human'. It is nothing but a...
"Hey has anyone checked on that Glitch in awhile?" A scientist asked.
"What's the point? They don't need food or water. I don't even think they need air. Why should we check on them?"
"Well has anyone checked the voltage on their headgear to make sure it was still shocking them?"
A scientist groaned. "No, does it look like I give a fuck?"
"No but someone should still check."
"Look, you have nothing to worry about. If the power somehow turns off, that would be a different story but that's not going to happen."
"Fuck this, I'm going to check."
"Suit yourself, it's a waste of time."
____________
The scientist approached the high voltage room as there were warning signs everywhere. He checked how much volts of electricity was going through the glitch as he noticed it was MUCH higher than before. He looked around as he turned the notch slowly lower noticing the little girl in less distress. He didn't understand why but something about her really made him feel sad for the girl. Like he didn't want her to be suffering through constant pain. She looks like a normal human but she isn't, she is a weapon and it is the scientists job to make sure this glitch stays put.
The scientist checked on the rest of the buttons as everything seemed right. He was about to leave when he was stopped by a small voice. "Why did you turn the pain down?" His heart throbbed as he looked back seeing the girl look up at him with sad eyes. He felt as if his chest was being crushed by guilt. He couldn't say anything as he just left the room. 'Why did I turn it down? She's just a glitch.' He thought as he closed the heavy barricaded door.
The man passed by several different cells as he heard whistling and another woofing as they were both taunting him. He looked over at the two seeing them wanting trouble. The other one near them watched as he didn't want to partake in the teasing. "Come here and let these tight chains off us. You seem like a nice guy. You do this and we will spare your life when we escape eventually." The scientist didn't want to get sucked into the conversation as he continued walking. "Oh so you are soft for the little girl but not us!!" He hollered obnoxiously. The scientist froze as he looked back at the guy. "Don't think shocker over here couldn't feel the voltage change in there. He has a craving for high volts.
The scientist grew angry. "YOUR SAYING YOU CHANGED THE VOLTAGE INSIDE?!?!" He yelled out in anger.
The mutant laughed out loud. "What if we did. Why would you care? We are only mutated freaks in your eyes.. unless.. you are seeing the wrong in all of this. You see us as humans don't you?"
The scientists remained silent as he didn't want to play along with his game.
"You know.. we will break out of here and when we do. None of you will survive. We can promise you that. BUT if you let just ONE of us out. Even glitchy in there, we will pretend you don't exist. What do you say?"
The scientist looked down at his feet as he looked back at the heavy barricaded door.
"You know you want to. The poor little girl in there have been through SOOOO much pain. Being near shocker will only make her life more painful."
The scientist growled as he held his taser as the man speaking.
"Oh, oh shock me!! I could use some energy to escape!!" The one next to him cheered obnoxiously.
The scientist grit his teeth as he put the taser away.
"Awwwwe, come on give me the taser. It can be my toy." He added, only pissing the scientist off even more.
He was about to leave but he stopped when a different voice said, "They plan on shocking her to the point she somehow glitches out. She will blame the unnecessary amount of electricity on you humans and kill every last one of you in ways unimaginable. Leave now and it will happen. Help her escape somehow and your life WILL be spared."
The words stabbed the scientists heart as he looked at the three staring him down. The man's body began to tremble as he realized they were completely serious. 'Fuck... I'll warn the guards with an alarm before I do it so they make it outside and escape.' The scientist turned on his heel as he made his way back to the heavy door.
"Oh my god, guys it's happening we are getting out of here." A voice said. The scientist ignored them as he opened the door going back inside to see the small girl. Closing the door he approached the control box as his eyes drifted back at the girl hiding her face. Sadness struck his heart as he felt this whole situation was wrong. He let out a long breath as he had his hand on the alarming button and the OFF button. At that moment all the lights turned off. His heart sank out from his chest as he heard screaming and laughter coming from outside the room. Suddenly the lights flickered back on with the emergency generator kicking back on. The scientist looked at the controls seeing they were turned back on. He looked up to see nothing sitting in the chair. Fear struck the man's heart as he looked around spastically for the little girl. He turned around and let out a loud scream. He saw a jittery twitchy girl slowly approach him. He back up while placing his hands on the control box. His legs went numb as his whole body went in shock. He fell on his ass as he backed up under the control box. She held her twitchy hand out to his face. He closed his eyes with his heart beating throughout his whole chest expecting death.
"You let me out didn't you?" She asked.
The scientist slowly opened one eye seeing her still twitching but she was smiling. He was still shaking from fear as he knew she could easily kill him if he said no. She didn't seem to understand the power went out before he had the chance to break her out. "Y-Yes."
"I knew you were a good one. Thank you." She said throwing herself at the guy in an unexpected hug. The man was so caught off guard he didn't know what to do.
The man was cut off by his confusion with banging coming from the heavy door. He tensed as he heard different noises coming from the other side. Screaming, laughing, slaughter and banging on the door. The man began crying knowing his time has come. All the warning he was given were finally catching up to him. He closed his eyes as he was still crying in the little girls arms as he hugged her expecting HER to kill him. The man felt a sudden gust of wind as he opened his eyes to see they were outside. His mouth gaped open as he quickly stood on his foot looking at the building. He smacked his face to see if he was still awake. He jumped when he felt something tug on his coat.
"They will be leaving the building shortly. I'd remove this jacket if I were you. They will kill you without hesitation." She warned.
The scientist quickly took off his jacket and he threw it on the ground. He looked back seeing the girl with a kind smile and rosy cheeks. "What's your name?" She asked.
He was still processing what was happening when he heard the front door bust open in the building. He quickly looked back seeing all the crazy mutants laughing and using their abilities all around them without a care in the world.
When several saw him he felt his heart jolt when he saw them look at the coat on the ground then pull off a sinister laugh and shoot their abilities at him. He yelled out with his hand out in defense. Something grabbed his other hand as he felt the crazy gust of wind again. He closed his eyes not wanting to understand what was happening. When he didn't feel the air rushing past him he opened his eyes. His eyes widen when he looked around. "Where are we?" He asked.
"Away from them." She simply said while letting go of his hand.
The man looked down at his savior as she looked up at him.
"So, what can I call you sir?" She asked politely.
He felt a sudden smile appear on his face as he got on one knee. "My name is John." He said.
"Hi John, I don't have a name. They usually called me the Glitch. I don't think I even have parents.. I always wanted to know what that was like." She said in a somber tone. Suddenly an idea popped in her head as she smiled sweetly at the man. "Wait, c-can you please be my daddy?!" She asked a bit loud.
The man's heart throbbed as he wasn't expecting her to ask a question like that. The man pondered to himself. 'A child.. not to mention one that doesn't eat or drink? She just wants to know what it's like to be a normal little girl. How can I say no. She saved my life. I owe her mine.'
The man smiled as he nodded. She was so overjoyed she threw herself at him in a powerful hug. The man's heart fluttered as he hugged her back. He didn't think he would gain a daughter and lose a job that day but there was many other things to come that no one was expecting, especially today. A war was coming, a horrible life changing war.
