Part Two: The Way of the Heart

(This chapter explains more with Blaze and about the community!)

——————————-

Blaze     (January 4th, 2042) Wednesday

'Another day another piece of shit person'.

That's what my dad used to tell me, well...he's in an immortal hell now so no more of that bull...

I could see everything from my new post above...you guessed it..

Her house..

I sigh.

The worst thing that could happen with 'that girl' Firestar, is that she could make my heart beat again which could make me feel emotions.

Why the hell would I want to feel them anyways?

Also, how the hell could she make me get emotions anyways.

It's impossible.

I know Amelia was never my soulmate. I don't care anymore.

I was so used to silence, and even my f—- attitude for such a long time that if anything ruined it I would have a long migraine.

A migraine because of my heart racing..which I didn't want to feel.

Not only that but my heart..it would beat.

The pressure...

Love.

Who needs it?

Why am I thinking about this, the doubts...

It'll never happen anyways...

If this tells you a lot about me, my heart hasn't beaten in 30 years, ever since I had an argument and a messy relationship.

Now she's in hell knows where...

I just keep secretly praying my child is okay...

God. It's probably as messed up as me.

I got an email a few months ago that it was a girl...from an unknown source, but I ignore it...

It could be a lie.

I never get my hopes up as it is.

Even though I had tried desperately to email that person back, I had gotten no response.

Supernatural children are born within 4 months, they grow fast because of the magic of the parents.

The magic, and a bunch of other things I don't know well.

I stayed awake the whole night in my watchtower looking for other survivors and even glancing at the new border that I used to watch. I used to guard.

I lost it all and I could never get it back unless I fought my brother, which wouldn't be for a long time.

Hopefeully..

I let him take it away, I was weak, and I barely knew any of the strong suited people in Tundra's community.

If I had fought them myself, I wouldn't be able to hold in my anger.

All of what I have been through would collide.

Which is because I haven't used my powers in a while.

I didn't want to kill any of my people either if I became angry and uncontrolled.

Earlier when I was awake. I could hear the creak noise of the bridge entrance into my brothers land and I saw flares, and fog.

Flares, gunshots and screams arose as I got down from my watchtower and yelled,

"Go! You all know the procedure!" I kept yelling repeatedly.  I went around to everyones houses and fought a few of my own that I had found out were also with my brother.

My own had snuck up on me and one jumped on my back as the others tried to stab my back.

I growled in defeat as I kicked one which was a girl, in the crotch as she yelped the other one bit my side, this girl was only 14. Fighting with her mother.

"AHH!!!" she yelled as she stabbed me with a knife as I pulled her hair and yanked her away from me. She had no right to come after me. The mother then ran back at me and yelled as I jumped on my back and the smaller kid on top fell off. All he was doing was yelling in my ear. This kid was only 11.

It was a small boy though.

The mother got stabbed with a knife I had taken from my pocket.

"Mom!" the kid crawled to his mom as the girl pulled the mom away from me and I walked away sighing.

"Ah, brother. I see you've met my helpers?" he says amusement in his voice.

I say no words as he circles me.

"What, can't speak, would you like me to speak for you?"

"No." I say as I walk closer to him, we stand still as he stares at me.

"What happened to you brother?" he asks as his smile turns into a grin.

"It's called unexplainable." I say as I sigh.

——————————

Getting out of my own thoughts I looked around the building and heard footsteps near the border.

As I looked across the small section of the community I finally find Cassidy the girl I knew well.

She finds her own house in the corner a few hundred feet from the new border.

She has particularly something odd about her, she seems nice and quiet on the outside, but on the inside she is hiding darkness.

I can sense it but I may not be right.

I fall asleep since its 9am, and wake up around 10:30am, to find Tundra at Cassidy's door holding a gift basket...

Why you may ask? If I knew I probably would be less ashamed.

Like I cared anyway. I just didn't want to see anything or anyone messing up this community like my brother did to my own.

That's when I sense that I'm not gonna be really doing much of anything.

When I started my new quiet life, I wanted to help more people then I had killed in my old days.

I was young, stupid, and blood thirsty, lets just say...I'm not getting really far.

Sleep and sunshine were the only things keeping me alive, as well as my own blood.

Who needed air when you were immortal and you just wanted to be left alone.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Firestar
As I wake up after last night's awkward situation, I realize I had barely slept last night. I was still tossing and turning around two a.m. and I was still wide awake.
Lost in my own thoughts of being annoyed and aggravated I finally fell asleep.
Four a.m. maybe?
I change into a red and black striped plaid shirt, bra, jeans, socks, and white Nike shoes.
While doing all of this, I was sitting in front of my vanity that had a shelf under it with my small collection of makeup.
I brush my hair and my beach waves appear again...just like my mothers...
'My orange and blonde hair is ending my life...' I think as I begin to walk out.
As soon as I walk outside of my old house (built in the year 2021), I see Tundra giving the unconscious girl from the nurses house a gift basket.
She looks at him like he's a complete weirdo, giving him a curious eyebrow raise, and a nod as she shuts the door in his face.
I mean I agree, what's with the gift basket? He never gave me one...
Cassidy's house from mine looks to be about a 3 minute walk to the old community entrance, where Axel is..
Axel doesn't use that entrance as I've seen.
I shrug it off and walk to the old diner that has our food court in it, located North of my house.
The food court is on the opposite road you take to get to mine from Tundras,  normally you would take a right to get to mine, for the foodcourt you would go to the left.
Taking the 6 minute walk to the foodcourt, I notice Oak Trees and green bushes aligning the dirt road.
I hear children laugh as they play with an old football.
I glance at some houses and see some mothers waving, as some others roll there eyes, clearly they don't like the new arrangement..
Once inside the food court, I am welcomed with the smell of cinnamon biscuits, and strong lemons.
The bright red door rings the bell that's connected to it as I swing it open..
Crashing against the wooden frame I see Maddie, a young twenty-three year old mother, she's an angel, and also is her child.
"Hey Fire, what can I get you today?" she asks as I hear her child laugh, along with a banging sound of metal..
Maddie rolls her eyes and chuckles as she looks at me.
"Just the normal..a bagel with cream cheese, and a coffee as well please!" I smile slightly as she furrows her eyebrows.
"Fire, what's going on? I've heard there was a huge fight, and moving arrangement, Ma's not happy, but Paw Paw, is delighted to have a new person in the house.." she says in a cheerful way.
Even though Maddie is twenty-three, she acts like she's in her thirties..her brown hair and slight gray marks fool some, as other people just shrug.
Leaning on the bar I keep sliding, it's an old furnished wood that was here before the community was..
The bar is made out of polished old wood, with cupholsters aligning it that have some ware and tear on them.
It doesn't make a difference anyway.
I hear the door open and it's the unconscious girl and the twins from a few hours ago..
I notice now how one is taller than the other..
Walking up to me, I glance at the spot where the bandage used to be..
The bandage is gone, as well as what should have been a giant bruise..
If only I knew she was immortal sooner..
She smiles a little bit...
"Thank you...for last...erm...night..I'm Cassidy.." she says it like she has difficulty talking or something.
It just makes me wonder if she covered up her bruise with makeup, or if that's how she really is..
"Is this the place for free food?" the short teen asks, her voice sounding shaky.
"Yes," I say as they walk over to the bar and ask Maddie for the breakfast special..
Maddie nods and excuses herself to the back room, where I hear her child crying.
The taller twin walks around me, she has dark brown hair, while the other twin has lighter brown hair. The shorter twin has golden-brown eyes, while the other has baby blue ones..
My senses are telling me that they had been through alot, but not as much as Cassidy has..
Cassidy wants to take something to the grave..
You can tell something about someone, while talking to someone and staring at their eyes..
"I'm Lonna by the way.. Firestar, this is Lannie my little sister, she's a bit slow..." I nod raising an eyebrow and walk out.
I begin walking the tiny distance to my house.
I mean it's okay, even normal..to keep wondering if Blaze needs food, even though he pissed me off he needs to eat something..
I end up walking over to the nurses chambers that's on the right of the food court to go talk to my friend named Nadine.
I open the house door and Nadine is wearing her, 'baby belly', she calls it..
Asking her about Blaze upon his arrival, she tells me he took refuge in the watchtower.
The one above my house..
I walk over.
I go in my house and write a note on the notepad that's on my living room table and write,
"Hey, if you need anything let me know, food purposes or whatever... -Firestar.."
I rip the note off the pad and see how tall the dang watchpost is from my standing point, and believe me its tall, a hundred feet above my house...fun..
I'm too sarcastic...
I begin climbing my fate, hearing my feet quietly clank against each ladder pole my feet land on.
As I'm halfway up I make the biggest mistake of my life.
Looking down I see trees as high as me and small people near the Center Point. I shriek and grasp the ladder.
I climb more shaking, each step closer to Blaze's watchtower. My foot misses the ladder as I had stared down and I drop the paper. I loudly squeal...as my other foot misses the ladder completely, so now both my feet wet from the mud is off the ladder.
I take a deep breath ready to scream and suddenly feel a hand pull my arm up and I gain balance.
That's when I fall face first into a hard chest.
I realize it's Blazes...as I glance up and realize we're staring. His eyes are surprised and curious as he sits on top of the trap door.
"Th..thank you..I almost died..." I say clutching my hands and getting off of him...I move as far away from Blaze as I can into the corner of the watchtower and I hear him chuckling then him getting into a high pitched laugh.
I roll my eyes and no longer cover my blushing face and glance at him while I have the chance.
His black hair is messed up like bedhead hair, he has sparkly dark blue crystal eyes and that's when I stare slowly down that his abs are showing off from the gray t-shirt he has on, damn six-packs...I don't notice I'm staring when he mentions..
"Well...uh.." he scratches the back of his neck... "Did you need anything or uh..what?" he notices me staring again.
I take a deep breath and glance around at the inside of the watchtower.
A small refrigerator and a..
I sense he's staring at me for some reason and talk,
"I wrote a note saying if you needed food or anything to uh..let me know. I..." Everything suddenly gets dizzy and colors fade. "...uh..I.." The watchtower gets all foggy gray and my eyes begin to close...
When I black out, I find myself in an odd position that I've been going in and out of for months.
I've been here before. I'm having a vision...a blank state. It's just me closing my eyes and not hearing or sensing anything around me until the visions done...
It's the picture and vision I keep having, it's Blaze...his dark hair cuddling me and laughing on a beach...
The beach near here...three point five miles of walking or driving and...
"FIRESTAR! HELLO?!" I flutter my eyes and he's in a panic state...
His pupils have expanded and it's like a sense this isn't the only time he's going to wake me up.
Why does he care?
Why should he care?
What have I done?
Overthinking causes me to panic, my eyes get puffy and before I realize it, I'm about to cry.
I shove past him with tears in my eyes, he moves out of the way letting me go past him and down the ladder as quick as I can.
He looks at me through the hatch as I finally jump down from the fourth step to the ground.
I was too worried, and worked up to just hear this...too much at one time, I've known him since yesterday and my heart is telling me that I've known him...forever. Tjat we relate some way and I don't know how, I don't even understand!
Running into my house I begin to think more.
'Firestar you just met the guy, he's off, he..somewhat cares..' my negative side catches on, my doubts.
'He's probably exactly like Chad, maybe Chad sent him up to do this to you, to break you..'
I walk into my bright white house that has one floor and one purpose like I do.
Just being here and helping children, it's what I want to do, it's what I have always wanted to do.
My mother had always told me every time I felt worthless, that everyone born has a purpose.
I had tried to believe that, but now she's passed in the bombings I have had no hope, not anymore.
Entering my house my entrance is my living room to the left, and to the right is my medium sized kitchen with the sink facing the window, the direction of the watchtower.
Blaze could look in here and I wouldn't know it. I walk into my short hallway, towards the end of it is the bathroom. The tub in the back and the toilet in the middle section near the toilet. My sink was what you saw as you entered and shut the door turning to the right.
I needed my bed more than anything at this moment. Walking to the left as I first entered the hallway my big bedroom held a Queen mattress with a fall themed room. Orange leaved paintings of my own were laid out all around my house, but mostly in my room. I had painted an autumn sunset, it soothed me for the week.
The walls of my room were a darkish yet light lavender, as my blanket on my bed was a sunset with leaves falling near it. My pillows were just pillows.
Just like I was just myself.
Wasn't I pleasant?
Tundra ***
I walk around the community and find many families looking at me curiously...one even walks up to me.
"So, what's with all these barging in families last night?" she asks angrily. She's a mother of five, Jenna Mastone...brown hair and green eyes filled with envy..
"It was a protocol, did you let anyone in?" she nods then rolls her eyes and mutters,"Even with this town barely full of five-hundred people they just couldn't find another house..", she continues walking on as I roll my eyes and sigh.
People with attitudes like that didn't need to talk to me, like that for one, but she had a point.
"We have protocols for a reason Jen." I say as she turns around and stares at me.
"It's not just fair for other people to let travelers and survivors in while you don't." I say. Some nod while most ignore me and go with it, they live here for free, yet people like Jenna think opposite.
It's barely eleven am as I pass Cassidy, the only way I can tell who it is by her blonde hair and her two adopted kids.
in my opinion it's what they are, I had also found out from Nadine earlier this morning.
I was curious of who I was letting into my community, even if I didn't really know them.
Who could blame me for trying to get close with the newcomers.
Why did I want to just get close with these three newcomers...especially that one girl in particular?
I grow more curious as I pass her, her glancing my way for a second then looking forward again, her dark blue ocean eyes scanning me as I walk past.
We locked eyes as she grew surprised and turned her head. I just chuckled.
She must be curious too.
I walk up to the watchpost and yell to Blaze if he needs anything.
He leans his head over the watchtower rails and shrugs.
Hesitating he scratches his neck..."Yeah, you know where I can get blood?" he stalls for a moment and shakes his head.
"Nevermind.." he says as he sighs.
I wait at the bottom of the ladder and look around seeing houses and glancing near the back of Firestar's house, towards the garden.
That's when I hear the metal clamping of shoes against metal, he comes down in a black t-shirt and jeans with a chain on the side and black old shoes.
A two-minute walk later and were already at the entrance. It's mostly like an old schoolhouse from back in the 20's.
We walk into the nurses station swinging the wooden flapped door, it creaks open and reveals a brown fluffy couch against the right wall with a coffee table in front of it and farther in the back is a big kitchen counter that extends to the front of the kitchen to the back wall with a sink near the middle section of it. The counter is mostly a grayish white granite with the backsplash of a white-ish stone. Firestar had helped us redo this whole house to make it look more like a nurses home.
It worked.
I see Nadine, her and that dang pregnancy belly, it was sort of funny but I needed to watch out because she always reads your physical pain when you walk inside...
We walk in and Blaze looks awkward as hell...
"Hey, you new?" she asks him. Her hair in a bun..he nods.
"Come here and I will settle your craving..." she gets out a needle for him..
"Do you mind if I take your blood?" she asks Blaze as she picks up a needle.
Blaze gives her an odd look like she had just crossed the line.
"No, I don't...uh want it taken, can't catch anyone learning from it..." he says quietly as she rolls her eyes and asks him another question.
"What's your type, like a vampire, werewolf, fairy?"
He rolls his eyes but says.."Vampire demon.." she nods and writes that in her purple notebook that is full of people's information.
She goes to the back of the nurses station and comes back with a water bottle filled with blood.
I don't drink it, I'm a regular, but people think I'm more than that, even the nurse knows what I am. but won't tell me, 'until it's the time..'
I tell her we will come back later and I know we will so he can have another bottle for his own fridge on the watchtower.
As we walk out of the nurses station I see Firestar run into it behind us...she looks panicky, but scans Blaze and runs faster.
She's part angel, she's told me this countless times..
Blaze scans her as well, which I noticed and he takes a long deep breath and we walk to the West-East side that's in the community.
"How long does this go?" he says as a brief wind hits us. He breathes it in and chills down, I get a cold breeze that slithers down my spine.
I wonder how Cassidy looks in the wind..her hair blowing and...
I get outta that focus and look straight ahead..
"I actually don't think that we have a stopping point...it takes 3 days to get to the werewolf lands, we share this land but they dont come as close as a day trip unless something bad happens on their land and they need something. I mean, I have their back, but they don't ask for anything. They dont notice threats anymore..." I say as he sighs..
"Oh, okay then..so were protected?" he asks as I nod. And he tells me to lay low...
He laughs and rolls his eyes..."Ya know I heard that right, and also the thing about Cassidy?" a slight blush creeps up my cheeks and I roll my eyes..
"Yeah, but it's whatever...she's too private anyways and yeah.." I say sighing as he grins..
"That's what I like about you kid, you don't want to mess up your friendships and your almost friendships..." he says as he stares at me...
I roll my eyes and smile and we walk back to the camp..
~~~~~~~~~~~

Blaze

I see the watchtower as we enter the village community. Tundra and I begin walking back to the nurses office as I keep praying..no hoping...

'Is she ok?'                                                                                                                                                 My subconscious says as I roll my eyes at myself...my heart's thinking the opposite, its not beating yet but it will soon, hopefully not...but she better be there.

She did avoid me earlier though.

We both entered the nurses office and we hear a song play and hear laughter from Firestar and her hair all over the place.

"I just don't understand the basics of it anymore it's so--" she turns around with a bright smile on her face.

Her bright blue eyes scan my face as I scan hers right back.

Everything mostly is slow motion to me...

She's so skinny and energetic yet she has a different sense to her, a sense that I had never sensed before...

She was different.

The door slams shut loud enough for me to come back to reality as her nurse friend turns around and shuts the radio off. Firestar notices and sits down, crossing her arms.

She acts all serious, even though she's not fooling me. I grin.

'What an idiot..', my subconscious says to me.

"How about you take a seat." Firestar says to me as I roll my eyes. She gives me a dirty look yet she seems amused.

"Firestar I don't understand how he has to--."

"Tundra. I just have questions." she disrupts as she looks at me and crosses her arms. She sits on the couch as I sit in the chair across from her.

What is this?

My sweater is bothering me in this heat they have on. I wipe my hair out of my face as I wait for a question, sooner hopefully to get me out of here.

"What did you come here for again?" Nadine asks as I raise an eyebrow thinking, 'what else would I want?'.

She gets what I mean and walks out into the back room, leaving me, Firestar and the kid.

Looking down I see she's holding a notebook, she has an odd pencil in her hand as she scans through the pages.

My eyes became all blurry and foggy and I don't know what I do but a wind wisps around the room. I blink a few times and her papers are all around the front of us.

She looks at me shocked and disappointed.

"Seriously?" she says angrily. She gets out of the chair and leans over.

As she sits on the edge, the chair tips forward and hits her in the head falling on top of her.

I stand up in front of her and lift the chair.

She's huddled cuddling her knees. Tears falling down her eyes. Her orange and blonde hair gets in the way of her face as the wind dispurses.

She looks at me and I see the nervousness in her eyes.

She stands as I go on my knee and picks up the other scattered papers.

I thought they were documents but in reality they were art.

A sunset, a bouquet of flowers on a glass table with the perfect reflection, a bright Sunflower...

"You draw these?" I ask, as I hand them to her looking at her as she sets up the chair and sits down again.

Her black notebook is on her legs as she huddles her legs close to her tightly still...she's nervous.

"Y-yeah. It's nothing big, I just.." she takes a deep breath and pushes her hair to the side that was covering her face.

"Do it as a hobby?" I say as I raise an eyebrow. She nods and flushes.

"Yeah."

"So why did you want to talk to, just me?" She glances at me and blushes.

"I-I did not! I was-I always check out the people who are new to this community." she says quickly as she readjusts herself in the chair.

I add..."Don't fall." As she rolls her eyes.

"What was your community name anyways?" she asks as she organizes her art papers.

"Shikasai." she raises an eyebrow, she bites her tongue and stares at the one picture of the banquet of roses.

"Shikasai? Why's that?" she glances in my direction.

"I just came up with it in my opinion alone it meant to me, safety as a group." she nods and her eyes brighten up as she looks down again at her papers.

"A group? Like a community." she laughs. "I get it." she places her notebook of art papers on the ground.

"Yeah. Why?"

"What if we named our community that!" she says as she smiles. Her cheeks flush a rosey pink and her eyes resemble a deep ocean blue.

Her clothes indicate that she may be depressed but inside, she is beautiful.

Her shirt is bright yet dark and her jeans and shoes are black and white.

"You're an angel." I declare as she nods.

"Yep. You're a demon I presume?" I nod yet raise a finger.

"Vampire." I say as she smirks.

"You sure act tough." she teases as she chuckles.

She stands and walks away as she stands behind the kitchen counter, setting her notebook down. She backs up and picks up another one of her papers.

I walk closer to her.

I don't know what overcomes me, I don't know what snaps, my anger from Axel and me being confused come to light as I run.

I speed up and pin her against a wall.

My arms around her head, not touching her, my eyes a bright red.

"I'm more than what you think you know." I say as she bites her tongue and nods.

She gasps and I realize she's shaking.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Firestar
I shake under how fast he pushed me with his chest into the wall.
Swallowing my fear I wonder if he's from Chad. What if Chad made him do this, what if Blaze is just like--no exactly like Chad.
I shove him out of the way as I notice tears fall from my cheeks.
Everything becomes shady, dizzy and dark as I fast walk. I push a chair out of my way, the door looks too far away for me to walk to.
The world becomes sickening and blank as I realize I'm falling.
I blink. I'm somewhere else..somewhere I had never been before.
It's a bright white light, at the end of it is a dark door with a bright shadowed light at the bottom of the door reflecting at my feet.
Giving me a sign.
I walk down the bright lighted path of rocks that guides me to the door.
My hand reaches for the doorknob. It feels warm and welcoming, the smell is of a strong ocean current. It makes me feel back at home.
I hear someone talking to me.
"Come follow thou Firestar, the flames that engulf you are giving thou a gift from above, which will help you on your journey."
I was confused at what she meant. Then I thought of the person who I had last talked to, Blaze.
The voice stopped and all I could hear was my heart racing.
Taking a few deep breaths I twisted the doorknob and walked inside as my head began to shake, my eyes flashed and I felt like I was being stabbed everywhere.
My head felt painful as slight jabs of pain hit everywhere around my head, causing me to cry out, yell but no one could hear me.
As the pain faded I became aware of my surroundings.
I felt someone shake me as I finally was capable to walk out of the bright door.
Someone...someone was calling my name. Nervous, and...scared.
Could it be Nadine? No, the voice was too deep...too dark...
My eyes flinched in pain again as my eyes opened in the real world of light, and Blaze was there, shaking me, not looking away from my eyes.
As soon as I took a deep breath gasping for air he looked differently then he did earlier, not scary, but as nervous as anyone else would be.
What was his purpose here?
"Are...are you okay?" he asked as I see a drop of sweat fall from his head. His bushy hair never bothered me, it showed who he actually was.
I nod as I realize my head is being held up by Blaze's hand.
Half of me is on the cold pale wooden floor, as my other half is lifted by none other than Blaze.
I begin to lean up slightly and my head throbs in pain again, a hot tear falls down my cheek.
He lets go of my head as I try to stand. I lean on a chair and slowly find my way and sit on it as Blaze stares me down.
"Believe me I'm fine." I say reassuring as he sighs and puts his hands behind his back, he's standing, his dark blue eyes fading into a light gray.
Why was his eyes changing like that?
I was fine, wasn't I?
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Blaze

"My eyes always change, yet I don't know why. I may never know. Look Firestar I'm heading out I-I have places to be." I say as an unknown feeling overwhelms me. I push the door open as I fast walk outside looking into the grayish sky.

These, what are these? Emotions? It couldn't be...

I shake the feeling as I walk into the cold winter weather.

The weather was cold and brutal, a slight frost but I could barely feel anything. Yet I still shivered.

Taking a deep breath of the wind I feel dizzy and odd then I have any other day, this feeling was new to me.

My feelings haven't been known for almost twenty years. I've been alone, seeking refuge in any way I can.

I used to work with Thahantos but I let the opportunity wear out, I did indecent jobs for him that almost cost my sanity.

It did for a while, yet I took hold when the killings were the same, everything felt old and outdated. He let me leave, he didn't need me for anything else.

I had left and that's when I was at that bar, away from everything, that was my first day of freedom and after that I walked the roads and traveled West towards Arkansaw.

After Arkansaw I moved even more West and settled in Washington County, Ohklahoma, where I had  met Tundra.

These feelings of chills and headaches were new to me. My head was now throbbing, just like I was throbbing with questions that couldn't be answered, at least not now.
