Resolve (Chapter 2)

'I'll definitely protect them no matter what ', Jay vowed to himself the day of the funeral. 

A few days later, their life went back to how it usually is with the exception of the fact that Ben isn't around anymore.

Another change that also happen is the fact that Alice isn't as lively like how she used to be. She's not eating as much. A health is also deteriorating.

"Mom, I why're you not eating like usual? You should eat more", Jay confronted his step mom. 

Alice smiled and said, "Son I don't feel that hungry lately. Don't worry I'm fine and isn't feeling sick at all". 

This continued over a few months, Alice health deterioration is becoming more visible but she still refuses to treat her body properly. One might as well say that she's a regular at the hospital. As she faints multiple times after and before work. She's lucky that she doesn't own a car licence as she may faint while driving. The doctors tried to help her. They even asked Jay to secretly mixed in a few tablets into her food. 

Alas it's a waste of effort when the person herself refuses to get any better. Alice got admitted into the hospital due to malnutrition. Even there she refuse to take any form of medication, saying 'That her time has come and it's time for her to meet him'. 

She passed after two weeks of admittance to the hospital. Jay and Iris attended both their parents funeral in the same year. Their relatives do not what to say to them. They can't do anything but look at them with pity in their eyes. Jay doesn't like the fact that they're pitying him because of his circumstances. 

The night of the funeral, Jay put Iris to sleep to concentrate on what Alice's lawyer is saying. 

Apparently based on him, Alice left a will to pass down a huge sum of money and a mansion in Japan that she inherited from her parents. With the money he can live with Iris till he finishes college if manages to get scholarship and after that he can start working to pay for Iris's tuition fees. 

Jay filled in the paperwork to be Iris's guardian till she's 21. He also filled in the paperwork to transfer school for both him and Iris. He decided to move into the mansion and sell this house and everything without sentimental value. 

He called the number given to him by the lawyer. He said it was the landline number of the mansion and he should call it before he going to the mansion. When he called the number he was greeted by a voice that belongs to what sounds like an angle. The lady's voice is so intriguing to him as he thought he heard it before but he payed no mind to it. 

"Hello I'm Jay speaking. My Mom left me a will saying that I should call this number can I ask you why is that", Jay questioned the owner of the voice. 

"Hello, may I know if your mother's name is Alice?" the voice inquired. 

"Yes!", Jay hurriedly answered. 

"I see. So you're her son. I'm the caretaker of the mansion that you now own and I'm also her first friend. My name Miyu", the voice said. 

"Can I ask you are you going to move into the mansion? If so, when?"

"We're probably going to move in by this week as there's no one we know here",Jay said. 

"I see. I shall prepare the paperwork for your transfer and get someone to pick you up at the airport", Miyu informed. 

He put up the house for sale and flew over to Japan after making passports for both him and Iris. Arriving at the airport in Japan their welcomed by someone holding a card with both his and Iris's name on it.
