Three months later…
"Black Forest or Rocky Road?"
"Ice cream or coffee?"
"Ice cream!"
"Coffee!"
The whole office was filled with loud voices when Dalia asked Martina which to choose between ice cream or coffee. She didn't know some of their fellow workers hated her for being too noisy and childish.
She'd been asking her friend for almost half an hour, yet, she didn't get any response from Martina.
Only she'd realized that Martina became too silent three months ago. Everything that happened that morning suddenly came back to her mind.
It was disturbing as she'd never seen Martina being lonely and empty inside. Dalia tried her best to convince her friend to confess, but Martina would always ignore her.
"Hey, I'm talking to you, Martina Green! You've been looking at that screen since morning! Aren't you tired of writing?" Dalia scolded her as if she was the head writer of the Writers' Department.
Dalia was getting into her nerve, yet, Martina has no other idea in mind. She was sick of her repeated questions and sometimes she just left the office alone.
At some point, Martina felt guilty about what she had done for the entire three months. She became a cold-hearted woman who always chose to be by herself than be surrounded by so many people.
Martina had never been into a fancy restaurant with her suitor since the beginning. Her heart was only for the creature she'd met coincidentally.
However, those good, old memory disappeared when Dalia hit her head. It was painful like a mosquito's bite that sucked her blood for its benefits.
"You're too annoying! Why don't you buy ice cream and coffee at the same time? You don't have to ask someone's permission, for heaven's sake!"
After a while, everyone witnessed how Martina Green turned into a fierce woman. Her fellow writers were speechless, most especially Aga Wilson who had just arrived from the Head Editor's office.
He didn't know what to do with his feelings towards Martina. He'd kept it for how many years, every time he tried to confess, something would occur that hindered him from succeeding.
"I was only asking you, Martina. Why don't you pick one from the two choices instead of yelling at me in front of everyone?" Dalia told her, and wherever they look into it, nothing would change the fact that their friendship was slowly breaking apart because of Martina.
She was trying to be a strong, independent woman who could handle anything by herself. Even there was a true friend beside her who was willing to be a crying shoulder, Martina pushed her away to the point where she almost curse Dalia.
Because of her selfishness, Martina isolated herself from people who truly cared about her. And not that she witnessed how Dalia reacted violently, she realized that it was hard for her too.
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, Dalia. Perhaps it is because I've been stressed over things that are out of my control," she said that softened Dalia's heart. She had only one wish earlier and now that she heard Martina's sincere apology, everything would be fine.
Martina gasped and looked away from Dalia's eyes. She quickly turned off the computer as she grabbed her purse from the right side of the cubicle.
"Tell Aga, I'll be going somewhere. If he wanted to deduct it from my salary, tell him it's pretty fine for me." Martina told her before she stood and turned around her back on her.
Aga Wilson heard everything from a distance. He was certain of it, certain of the truth that he has no place in Martina's heart. She was cold before, aloof from men especially from him. And the day she was rushed into the hospital, he saw both happiness and sadness in her eyes the moment she gained back her consciousness.
Before he lost a track of her, Aga suddenly put aside the coffee he was holding earlier. He tried his best to chase and stop Martina from leaving the office during break time. He won't let her go away without telling her everything.
"What's going on, Martina? You had changed since that incident happened, three months ago." He whispered as he followed her from behind.
Only he'd realized, Martina saw him through the glass door. His reflection gave her a signal to take another route or else, he would catch her.
"I made myself clear to him, yet, he's still trying hard to insist on what he feels for me!" Martina thought while she walked into the back door to avoid Aga Wilson.
If he caught her along the way, there were no other ways to escape. He won't fall into her alibis like what she did before.
However, Martina was about to open the door when it couldn't happen. Her heart thumped too fast, trying to unlock it before Aga saw her. She hated the fact that there was someone who liked her in the same department.
It annoyed her and at some point, she'd wished Aga Wilson was the alpha she had met accidentally. But the truth was different, the man chasing him was not Blue Dobinson and whatever happened, he would never come to see her face again.
"Come on! Come on!" Martina clutched her teeth, but it didn't open it. Someone might close the door before she had reached the back door. "No! I need to go somewhere before the night came!" She shouted desperately.
The longer she concealed her true feelings, the more it crumpled her heart like a thin blanket. Martina thought she could forget Blue Dobinson, but she was mistaken. She only lied to herself before because she didn't want to take the risk, to be hurt by her first love.
In three months, she only thought of him every single moment. The memory of the alpha's perfect face weakened her knees and gave butterflies in her stomach. How she wished, she could bring back the time when she pushed him away.
And now that everything seemed perfect, Martina determined to break the standard of love. A human being could be fall in love with a werewolf and no one could stop her now.
"Forgive me for giving up before. This time, I will search the whole world to see and touch you once again." She whispered and closed her eyes when Aga had finally seen her stranded.
