Edwin stood beside his waiting cab.
“This was planned,” Rhea realized, looking at her friend.
Andrew nodded, almost regretfully, “Arras made me call Edwin.”
He let go of Rhea’s arm and opened the cab door. Edwin gave a slight smile and got into the driver’s seat.
Andrew paused before he shut Rhea’s door, “That vampire truly loves you, Rhea. I’m going to stay here to help if I’m needed. Will you be okay?”
Edwin answered before Rhea could numbly nod her head.
“I’ve got her from here, Andrew. Thanks,” Edwin said kindly.
Edwin, in his wise way, said nothing until Rhea spoke.
“What is going to happen to you?” Rhea asked. “If this cure works, what will you do?”
Edwin answered right away, “I stopped taking my Swords potion the same time Taigh was thrown out of the order. I’m as mortal as you now.”
Rhea felt her mouth fall open, and she stared in surprise at the man who had been her friend from the start.
