The Fall

Me? Special? No, not unless being extremely ordinary counts. The waves of the ocean around me creeped towards the shore, causing shells to be swallowed and packed into the sand before being pulled back into the ocean. The salted breeze passed over the top of the water, the smell moist and comforting. I sat at the edge of the sea with my feet gently plotting on the damp sand. I glazed into the horizon wondering just how much different my life could be if I could just only get my hands on a genie bottle, or any way to take me out of my skin and give me a fresh part with more than just a new body. More than just a different status, but the ability to go out of my world and never have to take on my responsibilities or experience another type of the failures I've already went through. I wish I were like the sea, for the sea was its own master and not the dolphins within the waves or the mere krill dancing in currents can change the ways of the sea itself. The sun began to crawl deeper and deeper til it was replaced by a cold moon letting just enough light to make a bright reflection on the wake over the depths of the ocean. I pushed myself up and walked towards the dunes. I walked up the steep hill before turning my head back as I continued to walk until I missed a step and fell into a pitch black tunnel. I could hear nothing but my screams and the small rocks bouncing on the sides as they spectated my fate. How far is this hole, will I live or will this be the end... I started to cry and scream as I continuously fell deeper and deeper into the pit finally I hit water. I felt the dense water slap my back, knocking the breath out of me. It could be far worse but how could I have fallen so far and hit water without dying..? Then it hit me, surface tension must have been broken. The real question was by what. The last thing I remember was the eerie depths of the pool and terrifying creatures swimming circling around me.
