THE ARGUMENT

CHAPTER 5

His wife woke up by 9:00am and ate breakfast. She then showered and they talked about few things. Her stomach started to rumble for food. She started sweating and clutching her stomach. Her husband asked what was wrong and she said she was hungry.

Before he could ask anything, she ran to the bathroom and threw up everything in her belly. Morning fever began to disturb her and she was feeling more than unusual. She tried to lie down but couldn't, the baby was kicking hardly as she was crying in pain.

Confused Ronin called Serah who rushed over immediately with her husband to see what was wrong and try to help her as a woman.

The best thing to give her at that time was hot coffee to calm her down but she was banned from taking that for now. They were confused as to what to do. They got her drugs to take but wondered if it was the right thing to do.

She was in so much pain and wanted coffee so much but they couldn't let her have it. Not being able to withstand the sight of his wife in pain, Ronin decided to get it for her.

Andrew stopped him but he objected. After all the child would be killed so what's the use of letting his wife suffer because of a demonic child? He prepared the coffee and fed it to his wife who got better again.

Immediately she was done taking it, she got up from bed as if nothing happened and went into the bathroom to shower again then went into the kitchen to start cooking.

Everyone was shocked. "Was it not the same woman that was lying and crying in pain? What could an ordinary coffee do to make her all so strong again? Or, could it be true that plants food gave her strength? Then they were in a big trouble" thought Serah.

As if reading her mind from her expression, they all nodded towards her and heaved a sigh. They couldn't wait for the pastor to get there as things were going more than unusual.

4:00pm, the pastor showed up at the entrance door. Serah went to get the door and he was welcomed in. They served him some snacks and drinks which he ate slowly as he asked if anything happened and if they followed his instructions.

They hesitated to answer his question and he repeated himself again, asking if she had eaten and want she took. They told him everything and he just sighed, they couldn't tell if he was upset or not. Just then, Mary, who had been sleeping for long came into the living room and sat beside her husband. He prayed with them and counselled them after which he left.

Mary wasn't getting better at all as she grew ill day by day. She was admitted to the hospital were tests were ran on her. She was doing perfectly fine medically but they didn't know what the problem was. It was concluded that it may be because she was pregnant. She was given drugs to take and told to have enough rest and less stress.

Ronin just got fed up with the situation and wanted the abortion to take place with or without his wife's consent. The abnormal strength she developed overnight after eating fruits or anything even after she was asked not to but because she was getting ill and nothing could be done made them allow her to eat it. Even the pastor was confused on this situation.

He called his wife, the pastor, Andrew and Serah into the living room the next day and told them that they were going for the abortion. He was getting fed up on this situation and couldn't take it anymore.

The restlessness, trouble and confusion in his home had to end that very day. He asked the pastor to pray for them if there was nothing to say again when the wife started shouting.

"How dare you do this to your own child, how dare you! After this pregnancy has reached two months you want me to abort it. After all the pain I passed through from conception of this child you want me to get rid of it. How inhuman are you for you to do this to your own child.

When God has blessed us after so many years of waiting, so many years of pain and sorrow, you decide to do this. I am not doing it and that is final! " She said and stormed out of the living room.

Ronin was already getting mad at the whole situation and forced her to do it. Mary and Andrew went to beg her to open the bedroom door but she refused as she was crying all alone.

"Incase you do not know that is also my child. And as long as we know it may be our pregnancy but not our child. And I will not sit here and watch you give birth to a demon. This is for our safety, your safety and the safety of the entire world.

Think of the consequence of your action, think of what will happen tomorrow if you let this child grow. The whole world will blame you, will curse you and despise you.

That demon may even be responsible for your death tomorrow. Think of what your silly useless action will cost us. I won't watch this nonsense happen in my house. Get rid of that thing or I'll get rid of you too!

You value that useless thing you call baby in your womb more than the man you got married to. You think I enjoy doing this? You think I enjoy going through this? You think I don't love you?

I love you and that's why I'm doing this. We can have as many babies as God wants us to have if you are alive but think of your useless action. Letting a demon take away what we deserve, our happiness and the babies coming into this world.

Think of the hindrance you are creating. You think God is happy with you? Or you think that demon was given to us by God? That useless thing is not spending another hour in my house.

You either get rid of it or I get rid of you two! Don't let me come back and meet you in this house otherwise I'll take an action that even God himself would be surprised is coming from a human being. I have warned you! If this thing gets out I won't spare you I promise.

You are not the woman I married, that demon has possessed you!" He made to go then turned back to say something again to her, pointing his fingers to her. (That useless child of yours as you claim is also responsible for the death of six men, six, one, two, three, four, five, six, six (he counted with his fingers for her).

That all happened in your presence. Don't be foolish!" he said and left the house and drove away, leaving the rest of them confused. Andrew tried to follow him scared that he may hurt himself as he left his wife to look after the house and Mary. The pastor stayed with them in the house.
