Chapter twenty six

Each host was possessed by their corresponding muses. Then we dashed in.

When we made it past the gate, that was when we realized the entire place was filled with that boring stuff we saw everytime. Men in tuxedos.

At that, we all crouched and became as sneaky as we could be.

At some point, Jessica raised a hand for us all to stop. She looked up at a tower some distance away and pointed.

"Looks like the only possible place for Kuma to be," I said meaningfully.

And by God, this was going to be a tough one. Took some time for us to realize that.

The whole gang tiptoed to a car and hid behind it. From the way we had belittled this, we never expected this security.

The only way we could use was guarded like a celeb's party.

Sighing, Jessica sat on the ground in frustration, "I can get their negative energy. They are here, all of em. And it's stronger somehow. Any ideas, cos I don't think we can make it through this without a fight."

I put my hood over my head, pulling my mask up to my nose afterwards. The rest followed as well, just giving our glowing eyes more obviousness.

She was right. There was no way we could do all this without a fight; something we tried so hard to avoid. Sometimes we have to do the things we don't want to just to make things work right. And somebody had to start somewhere.

Well I volunteered.

The tunnel leading to the main deal was loaded with bodyguards. And they were somehow alert this time, looking around with a walky talky up to their mouths in case they saw anything. Meaning we could not approach them directly.

At this,I teleported and landed on top of the tunnel on my fours.

The car mirror beside me when I did that made me realize how it looked like when we always teleported. A puff action with magical, blue fairy dusts that glow. Then we were gone, just like that.

When I looked down at the men quietly, my friends stayed and watched from afar to know what Marshall's intentions were.

I snapped my fingers, consequently making one of the men to vanish away.

The rest gasped, trying to understand if that had really happened. When it was clear, they knew their friend's disappearance was extraordinary. Working for the fallen made them realise that was surely caused by a muse.

Seconds of thoughts after, they realised we were there. The leader of tht particular set stepped forward and searched the area, his eyes landing on me just above them.

When he gasped and lifted up his walky talky to his mouth, the rest of my team joined me where I was.

I smirked at the man and snarled, jumping upon him violently. My friend took care of the rest.

The childishness went on until Anthony got out a can of gas that seemed to make the men fall asleep. Luckily, we were immune.

We faced the tunnel. The entrance had a finger print lock only accessible to the whole villain crew. Bodyguards inclusive.

I bent and lifted one sleeping body up, getting him thumb to touch the scanner.

... Green.

The door beamed open and we scurried in. The entire length of the tunnel seemed too empty to be true. Was it just the fallen thinking just a door would stop us Orr...

And as we guessed, it was a trick. David tiptoed forward a bit and bent to the floor, touching it lightly.

He opened his hand as some powder appeared on it from nowhere. Then he blew it off his hand and towards our front.

And just as he thought.... Lasers appeared.

And I was guessing it was time to quit walking. How grateful were we then for the gift of teleportation.

We just went to the other side of the lasers that easily.

But the mistake we made was thinking it was all over. A few meters away, Jordy Hardin's men sighted us and stalked, feeling all muscular and tough. Clearly, we were outnumbered. Or not... Because as far as I knew, one of us was fifty of them.

They spread out, making a one-man thick wall, adamant to let us cross.

Jessica raised both hands in fake surrender, "We come in peace."

David broke into a painful fit of laughter and told the men, "Oh she's lying. We are here to kick your asses."

Chris being evil again.

One of them got out his phone. By God we knew he was about to phone the bosses.

Edna rasped at them when she saw this, clearly disgusted by their guts, "Oh I assure you. You wouldn't want to do that."

They looked up at us with hidden fear,  wondering the possible thing we planned to do to them.

Ahhhh. My team and their usual habit of using their mouths for the talking.

I tilted my head, stalking forward slowly, "Exactly." When I figured they all frowned and faced me, I began with my hypnosis, "Now y'all. Look at me."

My friends watched my intentions with a smile as I held out a hand to the men.

With my rasp and eyes, I put them into a trance, making them turn to obey my order. I went on with my talk, "Straight into the glow of my eyes. Don't look away."

Some of them had already been affected. They frowned in confusion, but still not getting themselves to look away. The intensity of the glow deepened into another shade of blue, working magic I never knew I had.

By now, all of them were in the trance, giving my friends way to go beyond them.

I concluded, "That's good.... Now imagine those big, soft pillows in your arms. Pull the blanket over, shut your eyes..and go to bed."

It took a while for that last part to sink in, and as supposed, they dropped down unconscious.

That was easy, I thought with a smirk and crossed their bodies to join my friends.

The next stop was the school field, clearly over a hundred square meters. This was enormous. And we knew we would not be able to go through it without being caught. To add to that, our movement was soon going to come to an end, given that Kuma was close. How grateful that it just had to repel the good guys meant to save him and accept the bad ones.

Just as the field was square, more of Hardin's men lined round the edges to form a partial square round it, except the part we were on. Was still funny how they thought it was all about the number.

Just as we posed to get ready to fight, Jessica paused and looked around, "Negative energy. Why is it so so.... Significant?"

I noticed she was annoyingly right. I stood upright and searched the place. It kind of felt like they got a new kind of strength, one that even affected their energy waves. Or was it something else?

"I feel a stronger force, " I told them, "something I haven't felt before. Or is it just me?"

It was then we got the worst news that brought everything we had ever fought for to an end. It all went down the drain.

Anthony declared with no obvious emotion on his face, "Oh no.."

And then we faced him in fear, praying it wasn't the dreadful thought we didn't want to accept.

But hell it was.

He finished his sentence with a sudden sweaty face, "Kuma is full."

I shut my eyes. The news landed like a bomb to all of us, though we had expected this. Somehow, as long as the idol was filled up, someone had to make a wish. And no matter what that wish was going to be, it was the end of the idol as well as the muse society.

Marshall was leaving.

The whole gang.

The strong energy wasn't from the fallen. It was from the idol. It showed us such repulsion when it was trapped, not to speak of now it's out of the stone.

The ghosts left our bodies in total surrender, standing right beside their hosts. I faced mine, watching him return the most apologetic stare I had ever seen from anyone. Was this happening?

"I'm sorry, " he said before I could say it.

I heard some clapping sound and turned around, only to find Fred tapping his thighs with his usual nonchalance, "So.. This is it."

And the surprises weren't over. Chris, the evil muse began to blink back tears. He was crying?!

"Just because of some stupid muses wish to go back to life," he said and wiped his face.

At that, Marshall clenched a fist, probably reminded of Amaya, "Oh not yet. I came to accomplish something. And I'm not going without doing that."

We faced him suddenly. How could he be speaking of hope when what we had been trying to avoid had already happened.

"And what in the world are you talking about," Fred inquired hopefully.

He turned to us. Jordy Hardin's men didn't seem ready to strike unless we were ready. At that, they still stood there, squaring the field.

My muse bragged first as always, "Well the fierce muse can't be gotten rid of that easily huh? If we have to do this,  we gotta be lethal. And I'm talking battering bodies and killing humans. Edward you too. I still have a trick up my sleeve and you may have to die with the guilt of murder."

"Sounds more like self defense, " I smiled with a shrug.

He winked, returning the positive vibes to the aura, "Touche.... I have a plan."

Angela crossed her hands over her chest and asked on behalf of everyone, "Tell us then. How do we make a wish and destroy the idol without y'all going too?"

Like seriously it seemed impossible.

I wonder what his plan was.

He put on that professional pose he always faked when he was being bossy, "Amaya's so called bravery would not let her refuse a fight with me. I'd term it pride. Always determined to show she has a leverage. The first time that has come in handy. If we could anger her and get her into a fight before she makes a wish, I'm sure I can make mine first, which may actually save us."

Uhhhh

Why did that still seem impossible. I mean a wish that could save the muses and destroy the idol made no sense. But I trusted him. That was one thing, "How are we gonna get to her? The repulsion may stop us."

"Owww we could always make her come here," he answered confidently.

We raised our brows; an action that meant HOW?

Marshall grinned happily, seeming absolutely sure he had won this already, "That's fish in a barrel."

Without any more speeches, my muse turned around and squatted, touching the grass with the tip of his fingers.

We studied him but still didn't realize what he was up to.

"What are you doing, "Kella asked as she walked towards him.

"A gift for Kuma. A disturbance, " he answered shortly.

Then he pressed them on the floor and made an effect. Blue, circular waves spread out from the point the fingers were to every part of the school.

Question for the readers. What's our muse color? Hint 1: It shows in every serious magic we do. Hint 2: I just said it... Hint 3…"

Marshall got up and glared at me, then mused, "You are the biggest creep I know."

I shrugged innocently, while he now spoke to the gang, "That should keep the idol disturbed for a while. Amaya knows I can actually keep on doing that and make her achieve nothing. So she'd come to stop me. Give her fifteen."

We just stood now, nothing to do in the meantime.

I glanced at the bodyguards around and said, "Why don't we play a game before the fallen arrive."

Chris got the message and cracked his neck and knuckles, "What's it called."

I replied with the worst smirk I had ever shown, "Who cooks the best lasagna made out of bodyguards?"
