The Mastermind Had Appeared Part II

A smile slowly forms on his lips as he watches the rise and fall of Sirius' chest while sleeping peacefully. He didn't have a hard time putting the writer to sleep earlier, even though he was fighting with him earlier. His gaze returned to the television as the news aired about the recent murder of a former friend of his. "So far, we have not gathered strong evidence about the connection between the three cases." A familiar face appeared on the screen, grinning as he saw one of his old friends again. "They won't have any evidence because I've cleaned everything," he whispered softly, then caressed the cheek of the sleeping Sirius. "Rest well, my dear, because next time we will make a new chapter of your novel." He kissed the writer on the cheek before leaving his apartment.

"My dear," Sirius snapped out of his sleep, then hurriedly ran to the bathroom to throw up. He couldn't help but feel disgusted as he kept hearing that endearment in that voice. "Sirius, are you okay?" Julius asked him worriedly because the reporter was in his apartment earlier to check on his condition and was surprised to see that Sirius was still asleep. He thought that the writer was just tired from writing his novel, so he was the only one who prepared his breakfast, but he suddenly heard a noise from his room, so he couldn't help but worry and went to his friend.

"I'm fine." Sirius said, then washed himself. Julius breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm just downstairs preparing breakfast; I'll wait for you there," he said, then went down again to continue what he was doing. Sirius also came out of the bathroom and sighed. Maybe what happened last night was just a dream; he didn't know who that man was. He went to the kitchen and found Julius waiting for him. "Come on, let's eat so you'll have energy later for your writing," said the reporter, then placed the plate with food in front of Sirius, who immediately sat down in the empty seat. "Thank you," he said softly, then started eating.

"How is Edward's investigation going? Has anything happened to the progress of the case?" Sirius asked curiously, and Julius shook his head. "They've been looking for evidence, but they haven't found any of it," he replied. Sirius was suddenly saddened by what he heard. "Poor victims," he said, and the reporter agreed. "That's why he and Gwen are trying everything to solve the case and give justice to the victims," he uttered. "Gwen?" Sirius asked in surprise.

"Ah, Edward's co-worker," he explained, then ate again. "It turns out that someone reached out to me and said that he was a batchmate of ours in high school; he is inviting me to a simple tribute for our deceased batchmates." Sirius spoke suddenly, causing Julius to vomit as he drank his coffee. "Who messaged you?" asked the reporter as carefully as he could. He didn't mention anything to Sirius about that tribute because he didn't want the writer to go there. Sirius shrugged his shoulders. "I forgot the name," he answered. Julius finished his food quickly and then informed Sirius that he was going to work, but the truth is that he was going to Edward's station. Sirius was the one who presented to put away their things because he didn't have much to do, and while he was busy cleaning his apartment, his phone notification suddenly rang.

Sirius immediately checked who it was; he was surprised by someone he did not expect to message him. "Meet me later at the Bling Like This Cafe, after lunch." He sighed, then put down his phone. He still has four hours before 1 p.m., so he will prepare mine for later. He continued cleaning until lunch time. Sirius rested for a while, then got ready for where he was going later. He had already been prepared; he really knew he was, but when he was across from Bling Like This Cafe, he seemed to want to go home to his apartment.

The writer glanced inside from where he was standing when he saw a familiar figure inside, which made him even more nervous. Sirius gently slapped himself to gain courage, then took a deep breath. He can do it because he has done it for several years, and they will only meet now. He tightly grips the strap of his sling bag before entering the cafe. He slowly walks towards them, and one of them smiles as she sees him. "Sirius," Mrs. Kim muttered, seeing her son. The son looked at her. "I never expected you to reach out, Mom," he said, then slightly gave a glance at his father, who was sitting quietly next to the lady.

Sirius sat in the seat opposite them. "How have you been these past years, son?" His mother asked him first, and Sirius didn't order anymore because the food was in front of him. He was amazed because his parents still remembered his favorite, even the cappuccino. "I'm good; I just signed a new contract for a novel. Your bodyguard should report you for that," he answered immediately, knowing that his mother was following him. He heard a reaction from his father, and Sirius tried to ignore it because his father would speak later and only bad words were coming out of the old man's mouth. He was used to things like this, and Sirius once wished that he had only forgotten his parents instead of his high school life. Mrs. Kim tried to smile. "That's good to hear; did Julius and Edward take good care of you?" she asked again, and the writer nodded his head again. "Yes, they are." Sincerely, he doesn't want Julius and Edward to take responsibility.

"When are you coming home?" he was stunned by the lady's sudden question, "Mom-" "Don't force him if he doesn't want to; he's totally worthless." Mr. Kim interrupted what his son wanted to say, as Sirius expected his father to start insulting him. "Haven't we already given that to those he wants? Even though it's against my heart that he took a course in creative writing, he just earns a little and brags about it, unlike his brothers, who have more ideas than him?" Sirius sighed because his father was comparing him to his brothers again. Since childhood, his father has always treated him like that. He thinks that he is not his real son because he once heard a rumor spreading around their mansion that his mother had a lover, even before his mother conceived him.

"Hon, we have already discussed it." Mrs. Kim asked his wife to calm down. Mr. Kim did not speak again, so the lady changed the conversation. "How's your head? Doesn't it hurt?" he asked the young man again, who was frowning at him. "It's fine, Mom. Why are you asking me like that?" he said, and Mrs. Kim just smiled. "Nothing; I'm just checking you up." Sirius glanced at his wrist watch to check the time. "Is that all you're going to say? Because I still have a lot to do," he stood up, "goodbye." He turned his back on them before his mother could stop him, and the couple did nothing but watch their son's back until it disappeared. Sirius breathed a sigh of relief after he left the BLT cafe. He felt like he was suffocating every time he saw his parents.

He was thinking so much that he didn't notice the woman from a law firm, so they collided. "Ahh!" Before the woman fell to the ground, he caught her. "I'm sorry for bumping into you, miss. Are you okay?" said Sirius. The lady stared at him, causing her cheeks to get flustered. "Uhmm..Oh My God!"' The woman straightened up, noticing the position of the two of them. Sirius scratched the back of his neck out of embarrassment while the woman was fixing her clothes. "I'm really sorry; I was just thinking so much that I didn't notice you." Sirius said shyly, and the girl looked at him.

"It's ok—Oh my! Sirius Kim?" The lady gasped as she recognized who was in front of her. Sirius frowned and then asked "Do you know me?" The woman nodded; of course she knew him. "I'm Megumi Lee, remember?" She stated that the writer tried to remember her, but he didn't really remember anything. Megumi realized that Gwen had told her about Sirius' condition: "I'm sorry for not introducing myself properly; I was your high school classmate." She added, Sirius gasped after hearing this.

"Sorry, I've kind of forgotten about the people I knew in high school because I don't see you every day, except maybe Julius and Edward." The writer explained that Megumi just smiled. "It's okay, at least you now know someone new; he's the one I'm going to. Next time we'll just catch up, so this is my calling card." He took something from his wallet and handed it to Sirius. "Just call me if you want me to tell you about our high school life." Sirius smiled and nodded, then said, "I will. I also want to know a lot." Megumi bid her goodbye, then went to her car to get in. She waved at Sirius again before starting the engine of her car, and then left. Sirius stares at the car while smirking before putting it in his pocket and continuing to walk towards the public library. Later, he will go home to his apartment.
