Chapter 55: The Start (Finally!)
~Third POV~
"Here you go! Five steins of beer!!"
"Oh, ho!"
Elsewhere on Kaynes Village an exceptionally short compared to other characters, with messy blond hair and a pair of emerald eyes. He also lacks facial hair, further accentuating his adolescent appearance. Regardless of his stature and youthful looks, he is relatively muscular, possessing an array of well-developed abdominal muscles. He often wears an ordinary, clean white button-front shirt and a black sleeveless vest on top with a loosely worn tie.
His Broken Sword's scabbard is held on by a green leather belt with gold-colored buckles. Without any socks, he wears a pair of black boots. His most distinctive trait is his Dragon symbol carved at the top of his left bicep, just below his shoulder.
The shot man happens to be Meliodas former captain of the Seven Deadly Sins serving beer inside his tavern called the Boar Hat with numerous customers coming inside asking the newcomers, "How many more? Welcome to the Boar Hat!!"
Meliodas was busy with customers many people began to question the appearance of the tavern appearing 3 days ago.
Nearby the Boar Hat Mash finally arrived seeing its location striking a grin seeing the Boar Hat grinned excitedly, "So this is the famous Boar Hat huh? Seems like I found the right place. [Observe]."
Using his skill a pop-up screen appeared in front of him viewing the details of the Boar Hat.

Description: The Boar Hat was established after the Seven Deadly Sins were branded as traitors of Liones. Meliodas founded the tavern to collect information about the whereabouts of his comrades and information about many of the Holy Knights. Although Meliodas is not a good cook, he has obtained a good collection of alcohol by traveling to many different regions.]
Taking a few steps forward Mash soon entered the Boar Hat with Meliodas snapping his fingers giving a command to someone, "Clean this up."

The sounds of an earring clanking could be heard as another voice revealed itself in an annoyed tone, "Man, what a pain. What is it this time? SNOINK!"
The figure soon revealed to be Hawk a talking pig. Hawk is a relatively large pink pig who wears an earring with the words star boar on his left ear. His body is well-rounded, and his legs are fairly short.
His charming point is the clover-shaped birthmark on his rump. His body and appearance are like a typical Gloucestershire Old Spots Pig. Like his mother, his ears are shown to be M-shaped.
Mash looked at the pig talking before muttering to himself shrugging it off in a neutral tone crossing his arms, "Meh. Seen stranger things than a talking pig."
Wandering around the tavern Mash listened to people's conversations with rumors of the Wandering Rust Knight and topics around the Seven Deadly Sins as one of the patrons asked Meliodas drunk, "Hey, shopboy. What do you think?"
Meliodas turned towards his customer as he revealed himself to be the owner of the Boar Hat surprising some people, "I'm no boy. My name's Meliodas! And I'm not a shopboy. I'm the owner of this joint!"
Mash took this moment to go towards Meliodas with a grin on his face with the former Demon Prince gazing at him as he spoke in confidence, "In that case are you perhaps looking for a cook then Meliodas?"
Meliodas gazed up and down at Mash before grinning cheekily pondering his question, "I see in that case are you saying you want to work for me? But how do I know you're a good cook? And can you keep up with the demands?"
*Ding*
Before their conversation could continue a person entered the tavern wearing a rusted knight armor marching towards Meliodas with an eerie voice, "Kooooh… Kuuhhh… The… Seven… Deadly… Sins… Seven… Deadly Sins…"
Marching forward seemingly exhausted the patrons inside the tavern ran away exiting through the door leaving a mess of the Tavern with only Mash, Hawk, and Meliodas remaining.
Meliodas hopped over the counter asking the Rusted Knight in a curious tone, "… Who're you?"
*KRASH*
*TONK*
*CLANG*
Reeling from exhaustion the Rusted Knight fell to the ground revealing a beautiful girl Meliodas recognized grabbing her as he answered Mash's request, "You say you want the job right? Congrats you're hired! As your first job clean the mess."
Taking her to the back Hawk moved towards their new cook asking in a neutral tone, "So… how good can you cook?"
Staring down at the talking Pig Hawk Mash responded in genuine pride in his cooking puffing his chest, "Enough to be considered good from a friend's cooking according to Rem. But at least have to be better than the bossman cooking."
Hawk nodded agreeing as he went towards the room where Meliodas was located giving him the best of luck, "As long as your scraps are good, you're okay in my book. Now I must make sure that idiot doesn't do anything weird to the girl. The names Hawk by the way."
Mash scratched the back of his head introducing himself to the leaving Hawk in an awkward tone, "The name's Mash Bastion. Now then…"
*Whoooosh*
Summing his extra hands out Mash began to clean up the mess cracking his fingers and looking for anything to clean up the mess questioning his life choices, "Still though… I'm gonna smell like booze by the end of this. Better clean the place up nicely! I won't Rem's teachings go to waste!"
Mash's eyes gleamed at the chance of finally cleaning the area since he had gotten formal training as a butler from Rem and Frederica. Ram… enough said.

Cleaning up everything nicely sparking Meliodas soon appeared looking at his tavern sparkling clean giving Mash a thumbs up, "Good job recruit! I knew you were the right person for the job!"
Mash felt his face twitch thinking to himself from Meliodas bluntness, 'But I'm the only able one with hands working…'
Meliodas soon went towards the kitchen gesturing towards Mash to follow showing him how to cook the dishes, "Alright then Mash since you were hired as the Boar Hat cook, I need you to learn some recipes. Just follow these as instructed…"
Mash did so look what Meliodas called for 'cooking'. He was extremely appalled by the creation of bad cooking.
However, Mash listens to the sidelines following Meliodas's atrocious means of cooking when everything is done muttering in disbelief, "But… how does everything that looks wrong look so good? But the taste I already know must be bad…"
Meliodas cheekily grinned seeing Mash's pale expression of his cooking gesturing for him to have a test, "Here want to taste test?"
He immediately shook his head wishing for his taste buds to be spared. But soon enough Elizabeth entered downstairs with Meliodas providing her a plate with food prepared and eating it.
Despite knowing how bad it tasted her kind nature showed. However, before they could start conversations yelling could be heard at the front entrance of the Boar Hat entrance fiercely banging on the door, "OPEN UP!! There was a notice from the villagers! We are the knights stationed at the foot of this mountain who serve under the Holy Knights! And we've come to arrest the Rust Knight, alleged to be the one of The Seven Deadly Sins!"
Meliodas commented on the rudeness of the Knights with a neutral expression, "Sounds like we've got some rude guest."
Elizabeth on the other hand flinches when the man says, "The Holy Knights…"
This doesn't escape Meliodas' notice as he marches forward toward the entrance listening to one of the Knight's words, "Come out with your hands up! Or else we'll have to draw our swords! Kuh kuh kuh, you must be an old man who's paralyzed with fear of us. So be it!! I'm giving you only 30 seconds!!"
*Klatch*
Meliodas came in stunning the Knights stationed here explaining himself, "No need. I'm the owner here. You can come out now."
*Clang*
*Clang*
Sounds of metal clanging could be heard as Hawk emerged from the entrance with the Rusty Knight armor announcing himself proudly, "Hmph! Did you call? It is I! Hawk, the Rust Knight!! I am the leader of the Knighthood of Scarps Disposal. SNOINK!"
The Knight in front of him was annoyed as Meliodas offered an alternative pointing at Hawk much to the pig's annoyance, "If you want, you can take this pig and boil him, grill him, or whatever you want."
Hawk took offense to his words yelling them out loud, "BOTH OF YOU, LAY OFF!!! POINK!!!"
*Yank*
*Dangle*
The Knight soon grabbed Meliodas by the collar angered by his actions through gritted teeth felt that their honor as knights was being mocked, "You little brat!! You've got a lot of nerve to be mocking a knight!!"
With the conversation going on Elizabeth tried to sneak through the back only to be stopped by Mash as he told her in a gentle tone, "Now then miss I would suggest you wait a bit. The bossman will shortly take care of them."
Knowing Meliodas hearing Mash trusted his instincts or rather his senses to listen to the conversation picking through his ears.
Meliodas did listen to the conversation sighing in a defeated tone answering the Knights as protecting Elizabeth will be his priority and safety, "Sigh… sorry but I'm afraid you guys need to be knocked out."
*WOOOSH*
*THUD*x5
Before the Knight could comprehend all 5 of them were knocked out cold. Not injured but surely knocked out with Meliodas asking his recruit to bring the rope, "Hey Mash, right? Could you bring me the rope from the storage to tie these Knights up?"
Bringing a rope with him Mash grinned with Hawk next to him asking Meliodas knowingly to use the rope for, "Got it here boss! Want me to tie them up somewhere they won't cause us any trouble?"
He curtly nodded as the group finished taking out the Knights with Meliodas looking at Elizabeth flustered as she muttered embarrassed while being groped by him, "Um… I can't believe it… That's twice you've saved me. How can I ever thank you?"
Meliodas cheekily grinned as Mash and Hawk returned listening in to their conversation, "How about… we finish our conversation from before?"
With that, the group soon began to discuss talks about the state of the Kingdom and marking the beginning of saving it from the corrupted Holy Knights. The only thing Mash could expect is some major fights ahead.
His excited or nervous about what's gonna happen. But he does know one thing from this though coupled with his experience from the Re: Zero world. No matter the challenge or the danger he'll never give up and will see through what the world has in store… his up for the challenge ahead.
