Chapter 40: Sanctuary (3)

Chapter 40: Sanctuary (3)

~Mash B. POV~

*Rumb*

*Rumb*

With the sounds of the carriage's wheels digging through the road, I was sitting silently in my seat observing the trees around us.

Otto was silently sitting beside me, and we made some small talk understanding my newest friend getting an understanding of the guy. He had misfortune since day one and I felt pity for him.

Just gotten dealt a bad hand. Time after time after time and even more after time. I made sure to tip my guy with my Holy Coins for his troubles crying tears of joy for his trouble getting to chill with him.

The birds are flying from one tree to another – oh?

[<Instinct > LEVEL UP!]

Trusting my [Instinct] I felt a chill run down my spine alerting me to be prepared immediately on guard. I heard a commotion coming from the inside of the carriage causing Otto to open the slide behind us to peer inside, "Everything okay back there? Any commotion or troubles?"

Instantly Rem's voice replied in a panicked tone getting our attention, but my eyes remained focused on the subtle sensation of my senses, "Lady Emilia has collapsed! The necklace has also been shattered!"

Otto then visibly shivered before turning his attention towards me in worry, "Should we stop the carriage, Mash? You should have heard her, right?"

I responded by curtly nodding speaking out loud in a serious tone leering at our destination ahead of us, "I heard but keep going. We have some company waiting for us ahead."

The sensation of someone coming close made my [Instinct] tell me as I prepared myself placing my sword at the ready on my hand. My senses proved to be truthful to me placing my eyes to the sky with an angry voice that spoke out, "You got some nerve coming here stinking up the place stranger!"

The voice we heard my eyes sharpened towards a figure falling rapidly approaching the carriage he looked like a young and relatively short boy with short gold hair and deep and sharp jade-colored eyes. He has sharp feline-like fangs, similar to Frederica's. He has a large white scar stretching across the entirety of his forehead.

He looks extremely strong and possesses a rather well-built and muscular physique. He is wearing long black pants and a torn-up loincloth that is heliotrope-purple on the outside and red-violet on the inside and a short black vest with red-violet accents. To match his color palette, He can also be seen wearing black long-sleeved gloves with red-violet accents. A blue glintstone can also be seen dangling around his neck.

[Observe].

[Garfiel Tinsel Lv.40 Shield of Sanctuary]

Seeing Garfiel in the flesh he yelled out loud preparing his attack rapidly falling on us in an angry tone, "D'know what y'thought was about to happen. But you met Garfiel and I'd want any reeking figures like ye'here!"

Witnessing the falling midget with Otto worried about the sudden attack. I don't have time for this. Sigh… what a drag.

Waiting for the man to get closer to me he rapidly fell towards me, he let out a laugh before throwing a nasty kick towards the top of my head… cute.

*Whoomp*

Using [Unseen Hands] summoning one of them grabbed hold of Garfiel's feet. To others, it seemed like I was holding his attack effortlessly with Otto looking shocked.

Garfiel looked equally as shocked as I spoke immediately tossing the manchild away like it was nothing using my Authority, "Can't you see we are having a moment!!"

*Wooosh*

Tossing Garfiel away like a bug felt satisfying not gonna lie. Stopping a Lv.40 attack using my [Unseen Hands] was very satisfying and I the confused look on his face trying to understand how I could withstand his attack.

*BOOM*

Immediately after feeling the impact, a loud boom resounded throughout the air as his body broke through the air and went through a lot of trees causing a mini line of destruction.

Jumping off the carriage softly with Otto's mouth agape having my [Unseen Hands] at the ready popping out of my body. I started to walk towards the area where Garfiel fired off using [Eyes of Mana] to locate his Mana.

It didn't take long till I finally caught him standing up with shaky legs as his face showed an expression of anger but pain as shock. He managed to spit out blood frowning at me and getting into a fighting stance, "That was a good hit you threw out. But believe the Garfiel will fall to just that now?"

Strange? Having my [Eyes of Mana] active I see Earth Mana particles surround him. He cast a healing spell to heal his prior wounds and… oh. OH! So that's how his healing himself… Garfiel Divine Protection.

Standing up ready for a brawl showing his teeth as he started to make a couple of steps towards me, "But believe that Garfiel will fall to just that now – "

"[El Huma]!"

*THUD*

Before he could even finish an icicle of magic flew past and hit the ground in front of him landing between us. Knowing this belonged to Rem's Mana signature sighing in relief with Rem here turning my back and walking towards her.

Turning around I see Rem and Beatrice with a deep frown as Garfiel tried to provoke me calling me a coward, "D'walk away from me! The coward walks away from his problems, that makes ye a coward –"

*BAM*

[You gain 40 EXP!]

[LEVEL UP!]

[You gain a skill card!]

Whoops?

I think Garfiel might have touched a nerve on me using my [Unseen Hand] slamming him down on the ground. I looked towards Garfiel knocked out as Beatrice sighed saying out loud, "Sigh… I see that the Witch Factor is reacting or Mash-san doesn't know how to control his emotion being called a coward I suppose."

I was scratching the back of my head apologizing to the two since Otto was too far away to see the scene clasping my hands together, "Yeah… sorry about that! I promise to have better control over my Authority!"

Rem could only sigh but smiled lightly coming towards me grasping my hand as I blushed from the contact embarrassed, "I understand Mash-sama. I'm just glad that you were uninjured and remain… you know you. Rem wishes your safety."

I couldn't help but thank Rem for her words turning her head towards Garfiel's unconscious form sighing out loud placing her hand over her head, "Sigh… Rem will heal… Garfiel-san that you were speaking to."

Beatrice chimed in looking at the unconscious form of Garfiel leering her eyes at him with disdain annoyed, "Is that the supposed Garfiel you were talking about? He's annoying I suppose."

Yikes. Sorry Garfiel but I ain't helping you deal with these two when you wake up. I asked concerned about Emilia's state in a worried tone scratching my head, "Is Emilia alright? I heard she went unconscious before that guy attacked."

Rem moving towards the unconscious Garfiel began healing him as she explained, "Yes, she's still breathing, it seems she's only fainted. It will be a bit before I heal Garfiel to explain himself."

I nodded in understanding waiting with Beatrice by my side. Taking this chance I decided to use the skill card I got from defeating Garfiel.

I mentally smirked using it. And I was right that I got Garfiel's skill.

Skill List.

----

<Divine Protection of Earth Spirits> (Passive) Lv. MAX

Description: The user of this skill so long as the user has their feet on the ground, the user can freely manipulate the sediment under him, manipulating the earth's shape at will. Additionally, the user can cause the earth to cave in with a single step, reduce the effects of [Earth Magic], and accelerate the recovery of wounds and stamina by +0.1/Sec.

----

Recovers my wounds and stamina for +0.1/Sec. That's incredibly busted… these Divine Protections are no jokes.

But considering my level up I got only one then my EXP increased again. Still though at the very least I've gotten stronger but is it enough to fight against Elsa for that rematch is what I wonder would be enough…?

Status.

Healing Garfiel enough to regain consciousness he gritted his teeth yelling at me, "Don't tell me you trust that guy Rem! The bastard reeks!"

Rem and Beatrice just sent a glare towards Garfiel making Otto come near us seeing the situation being handled, "Mash sir is everything alright now?"

I curtly nodded as Otto sighed in relief, but his expression changed seeing Garfiel sending us a serious expression speaking out, "I hope you know you're talking to the man who killed Sloth and took down the White Whale."

I raised an eyebrow why he said that? Did he think that would intimidate a man-child? Wait is a child though…

But Otto's words seem to move beyond his thick skull yelling at me trying to keep me out of Sanctuary, "I don't care! I still don't want t'guy anywhere near Sanctuary. You understand right Rem?"

Rem hearing this just sighed deeply before raising her head towards him and replying in a neutral tone, "Garfiel, Mash has saved not only me but even Ram, Emilia, and Beatrice. He's even the man who I'm in love with."

Garfiel hearing this suddenly froze in place and blinked as Rem stood up giving me a hug proving her point with his mouth agape asking the obvious, "Huh…. HUH?! But what about the cu – "

Interrupting him Rem frowned turning around and giving a glare making poor Garfiel freeze in place getting a scolding, "Because I know him well enough to know he won't harm me. And I expect you to give him a chance!"

Frowning, Garfiel took one last look between us and looked to say something but just sighed at the end everyone glaring daggers at him relenting, "Sigh… sure, but I will tear him apart myself if he acts out of line. Just because you like him doesn't I get to? Now come along 'then."

He let out a huff before gazing at me one more time stretching his body and commenting on my abnormal strength, "But that toss of yours is something I like."

I smirked giving him a wave two finger salute commenting on his strength, "Yeah… but that kick certainly feels strong enough."

We both merely smirked laughing at each other. Oh, we hate each other that's for sure since we both didn't trust each other in the slightest. And unfortunately, I'm gonna need his help regretfully…

Eventually, we all moved forward toward the village where the next challenge awaited us. I already not going to like this one bit because a certain group of people is bound to give me headaches.

Time to game on.
