I just wanted to give a head's up either way. LGBTQ+ representation is also in this novel. :)] This is book one of the Ylphasia series. War, betrayal, loss, growth - none of these things were aspects of life that Myranda had in mind when she finally met her destined mate. The only problem was that her chosen was someone she absolutely despised - Prince Metas, the next rightful King to the Lycan Kingdom. From the bottom rungs of society, everything above her seemed like a dream - it was too bad her preconceived notions were far from wrong. In their journey to make a brighter future for their entire kingdom, Metas and Myranda learn that there is so much more to just being mates than their shared love. As they navigate the complications of starting a revolution, both Metas and Myranda discover just how compatible they actually are - and how much their paring means for the future of their kind. ----------------------------------------------------- [EXCERPT] "If you want my place so much, you should challenge me when the time comes. This is cowardice. You think I can beat you-no...You know I can beat you, and so you're trying to hurt Myranda to make me weaker. You're a bastard, a cheat and a liar, and you don't deserve to rule over our kingdom - and you never will. You have no valor, no honor - and no moral compass," Metas spat towards him, and kept his hair up on end involuntarily. "I'm drunk right now and easily pushed you over like a small paper bag filled with shit. Since you've so brilliantly shown what you'd truly like to do, I'll make sure she is safe from you. Meanwhile, perhaps you should train or learn better tactics from your papa," Metas continued, and even grinned with delight. "Even if you beat me in combat, the rest of those in power want to see you fall. You won't last," Silas warned, and reformed into his mortal self. "...but I do intend on challenging you. Unless you want to kill me right here and now since you're so confident." "There is no honor in killing you without the glory of showing you exactly what I am capable of in front of everyone. I will take Joss' advice and do nothing for now. I don't want to throw away honor for revenge. If you come near her again, I will kill you before you ever get the chance to prance around in front of high society with a little speech, and show off to your wife and no friends. Understand?" Metas asked menacingly, and now his gums were visible as saliva dripped from his lips and teeth, barely holding himself back. "I will drink your blood through your eye sockets if you lay one more fucking claw on her - understood?" Metas warned as he advanced towards the blonde male. "You letting me live will be the biggest regret of your life, Metas. Hold those words close to your heart when you lose everything to me," Silas sneered and turned away, but not before he locked eyes with Joss with a dare in his green orbs.

Wrong Place at the Right Time, Pt. 2

"This is my favorite stuffie..." Syri said softly as she held up a little lion that looked very chewed on and very "over-loved". The little yellow and orange critter was missing an eye, and his mane was half-way gone, but Syri refused to go anywhere without it.

Myranda smiled and picked up a nearby stuffed rabbit and shook the little stuffed creature and made it 'dance' - which made the little girl laugh.

"Is this your mate? He's big" Syri said with wide eyes that unfortunately matched her father's emerald jewels.

"This is the Alpha King, Metas - and yes, he is my mate" Myranda answered proudly.

"Hi. You have a long beard," the young one said observantly and reached out to touch it, and the gold rings he had locked around it. "I like your track rings. Can I hold one?"

"Of course" Metas said with a smile, and took the lowest ring on his beard and handed it to Syri.

It was more than just a gold ring - he had gemstones encrusted into each that only the royal family could wear, as they were some of the oldest trinkets in their kind's history. They held a lot of the ancient magic that only the blood of the Firsts could control - leaving their other purpose useless to anyone not descended from Metas' genes.

"It's so pretty" she trilled out as she turned it in her hand to look at the sparkling red gems of all sorts of hues sparkled in the light from her room.

"That's the power ring. Each of my tracking rings have a different color for a different meaning. The power ring is to symbolize the honor of being children of the Lycans, a strong and resilient creature of whom we share our bloodline. The blue one here is called the wisdom ring to symbolize that the history of our people has meaning and should always be remembered so we can learn fromit. This green one here is the ring of courage, which symbolizes the pride and honor of our clans. We always fight until our dying breath for the sake of all of us. -- and the ring of white is actually made up of white and light gold gems and signifies the glory of leading our entire pack into greatness. They are important to me, but they are quite pretty, aren't they?" he said to Syri whose smile was still wide as her eyes affixed to the jewelry in her hands.

"the prettiest" Syri replied, distracted by the sparkles.

"Thank you, Metas" Myranda said softly and leaned into his arm again.

"Your sister is now my sister. I will not allow her to suffer, either. He does not deserve her," the Alpha said sternly, and looked at Syri with eyes that were filled with love and pity.

"Do you want kids, Metas?" she had to ask - it was a bit important to her.

"Very much. I want three of them, honestly. Girls or boys, it doesn't matter - I would just like three. I could have so much fun with them, and if you are their mother, then they will have true happiness in their futures," he answered her smoothly.

At first she thought he was just trying to play her with his perfect answers - but now it made her feel lucky and safe. The need to stay by his side only grew with each minute that passed, and now desire with his talk of her baring his children.

"You're something else, Metas...something great," Myranda replied with red cheeks.

"Thank you" he said tenderly and adjusted his arm so that he could touch her hand.

"Auntie... if Metas is King, are you Luna?" Syri asked and looked over to her almost accusingly.

"Oh.. uhh.. that's complicated..." Myranda started.

"Your aunt will be Luna if she chooses to be, for now - she is a free spirit. You already knew that though, didn't you little miss?" Metas answered in order to soothe his mate from feeling anxious.

"Mmmhm! Auntie once threw a biscuit at uncle Jyrah's head and it was funny," she said with a giggle.

"That sounds very much like your aunt, little one."

Myranda perked her head to the side and then turned her head to the door as an audible slam could be heard from downstairs from the door being abused.

'I'll kill him if Metas doesn't' Myranda thought bitterly and stood up in anticipation of her sister's arrival - but she didn't come to Syri's room right away. Instead, she heard her sister walk past Syri's door and into her own room where she shut herself inside.

"Could you keep her busy for a while, Metas? I want to go see Syrana and freak her out by myself instead of in front of you and her daughter,"

"You needn't even ask- it would be my pleasure. Go see your sister," he answered and reached up to her hand and brought to his lips to kiss the back of it as a symbol of support.

Myranda smiled and leaned down to kiss Metas on the forehead. "Syri, I'll be right back, okay? You're safe with Alpha Metas."

"Okay" she said with a 'bubble' in her voice.

Myranda left her niece's room and made a bee-line to where Syrana's footsteps were heard. It was only a few steps to the door that she easily opened and slowly peered through.

Her sister was clutching a very recognizable jacket - Veltar's jacket, and sobbing into it with heavy cries as she sat on the unmade bed she more than likely shared with Silas. Instantly, Myranda was angry and sad to see her sibling in such a state.

Carefully she approached Syrana and leaned down onto her knees so she could reach out and touch her shoulder gently.

Unfortunately, her response was to let out a cry of surprise, but she didn't lob any questions. After she stared at Myranda for a few seconds, the younger sister was positive she was about to get yelled at. Instead, Syrana leaned forward and hugged her little sister towards her tightly and freely sobbed into her hair and shoulders.
