I just wanted to give a head's up either way. LGBTQ+ representation is also in this novel. :)] This is book one of the Ylphasia series. War, betrayal, loss, growth - none of these things were aspects of life that Myranda had in mind when she finally met her destined mate. The only problem was that her chosen was someone she absolutely despised - Prince Metas, the next rightful King to the Lycan Kingdom. From the bottom rungs of society, everything above her seemed like a dream - it was too bad her preconceived notions were far from wrong. In their journey to make a brighter future for their entire kingdom, Metas and Myranda learn that there is so much more to just being mates than their shared love. As they navigate the complications of starting a revolution, both Metas and Myranda discover just how compatible they actually are - and how much their paring means for the future of their kind. ----------------------------------------------------- [EXCERPT] "If you want my place so much, you should challenge me when the time comes. This is cowardice. You think I can beat you-no...You know I can beat you, and so you're trying to hurt Myranda to make me weaker. You're a bastard, a cheat and a liar, and you don't deserve to rule over our kingdom - and you never will. You have no valor, no honor - and no moral compass," Metas spat towards him, and kept his hair up on end involuntarily. "I'm drunk right now and easily pushed you over like a small paper bag filled with shit. Since you've so brilliantly shown what you'd truly like to do, I'll make sure she is safe from you. Meanwhile, perhaps you should train or learn better tactics from your papa," Metas continued, and even grinned with delight. "Even if you beat me in combat, the rest of those in power want to see you fall. You won't last," Silas warned, and reformed into his mortal self. "...but I do intend on challenging you. Unless you want to kill me right here and now since you're so confident." "There is no honor in killing you without the glory of showing you exactly what I am capable of in front of everyone. I will take Joss' advice and do nothing for now. I don't want to throw away honor for revenge. If you come near her again, I will kill you before you ever get the chance to prance around in front of high society with a little speech, and show off to your wife and no friends. Understand?" Metas asked menacingly, and now his gums were visible as saliva dripped from his lips and teeth, barely holding himself back. "I will drink your blood through your eye sockets if you lay one more fucking claw on her - understood?" Metas warned as he advanced towards the blonde male. "You letting me live will be the biggest regret of your life, Metas. Hold those words close to your heart when you lose everything to me," Silas sneered and turned away, but not before he locked eyes with Joss with a dare in his green orbs.

Patience is A Virtue of Trust

"I hate when villain's reveal their plans, and then they actually go well. That's completely opposite of the books I've read in my lifetime..." Jyriah grumbled as he mixed a bowl of ingredients - more than likely dough.

"Silas is a villain?" Joss asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Do I need to answer that question? If so, I'm going to do so with silence. Starting...now," Jyriah replied flippantly.

"Fine. I have a feeling he has been planning this out for a while....and I'm surprised she said something after you asked her not to. That doesn't seem like Syrana," Joss replied wearily.

"I think this is getting convoluted. We should try to convince Metas to bring Myranda to his side earlier. Eyes or not - it's better to have her on our side than aloof. I'm going to do my best to sway his opinion," Jyriah said with a sigh.

"I agree. It's harder to defend that which is not close to you....at least that's what my history books convey. Plus, she would be helpful. Silas knows it's an act. What's the point of protecting her from the truth? He will need her support in a week or so anyway...if we even get there now. Things may change now that Silas is aware of how much Myranda means to him," Joss replied as they discussed this as softly as possible.

'...How long have they been hiding this from me?' Myranda thought as she eavesdropped on her brother and his mate. She kept her body stiff with her back to the wall and took slow, quiet breaths to be able to hear them clearly without being heard herself.

"My sister can handle this - and I've tried to get Syrana to see Silas for what he is, but she's blinded by his two-faced act. At least one of them should be aware of what's going to happen at the ceremony..." Jyriah wondered aloud and set the bowl down.

"I can't just up and tell her - that would make Metas distrust me entirely. I want him to trust me, and I do trust him. You're better at talking than I am - would you please try to get our Alpha King to see reason?" He followed up and looked to Joss helplessly.

"I will. I think last night should have been an indicator that playing dumb isn't going well," his mate agreed and shook his head. "He should have stayed with her. I get he thinks he's on the right path, but I think it's turned into a bad road. He'll be paranoid constantly, and he won't be able to focus. That would be disastrous."

'...He was here last night?' a smile shot across her face in sudden realization. 'Did he save me? I knew I smelled him. I knew it....why would he do that?'

"He loves her too much to the point that he won't even utilize her. If he wants her to be his Luna, he should start reeling her in now,"

Myranda had to cover her mouth before she gasped audibly. 'He...he wants me as his Luna? Truly? Even after I treated him so poorly? Did he know I was truly sorry? Is that why our connection was so strong last night when he touched me?'

Her cheeks lit up to the point where she could feel their heat burning below her eyes.

"I heard Lara brought her mate in on it. She'll be stronger for it, too. Metas should do the same at this point. There is nothing but stubbornness holding him back. Gerald told me she is planning to inform Metas today about her decision. I think she is more scared to tell him, than he will be angry about it, really" Jyriah gossiped at this point. He didn't need to bring his mate to his side, but he sure did want to vent.

Myranda couldn't take it anymore. She looked around the corner to make herself known, but the two of them were sharing a sweet kiss and the last thing she wanted to do was ruin that. She pulled her body around the corner, and failed to stifle the giggle that came out of her lips. It was just so cute to see her brother so happy, that the joy was impossible to contain.

"Myri?" Came Jyriah's voice as he heard her giggle.

"...No?" She answered in her normal fashion.

"Spying is wrong, you know" Jyriah said as he came around the corner with suspicion on his face.

"Lying to your sister is wrong, too - but you seemed to do that easily," she returned with ice in her voice.

"I think betraying the Alpha King who you swore an oath to is much more concerning that lying to my baby sister," he retorted and then reached out to pinch her cheek.

"Stop it-" Myranda pushed his hands off and then gave him a look of confusion and hope. "Does Metas really want me as his Luna?"

"Yes. Myri, he saved you last night. He told me to tell you it was I who saved you - but I mean you were eavesdropping. I can't help that, but let's hope he sees it that way" Jyriah replied with a pale face.

"He will because I'll explain everything to him. Why didn't anyone just tell me?" Myranda demanded with a frown.

"How many times would you have tried to break out of here by now if you knew he wanted you at his side, and needed you there?" Her brother asked to answer her own question (a common thing in their society, apparently).

"...A lot..... Fine. Well, I know now. How are we going to get me out of here and at Metas' side?" She looked at him with a smile on her face, and bright eyes to match.

"Err...Yeah..uh..." Jyriah started.

"Let us see if we can make it his idea first. I think Lara will be using all of Metas' forgiveness points today. Just - don't say anything until we can come up with a plan" Joss answered as he came from behind Jyriah with a stoic face, but there was a slight hint of a smile behind his bright orange eyes that contrasted against his cool hair so beautifully.

"Why can't I just go now?" Myranda insisted.

"You need to let us work him up to it first. He's going to be upset," Joss tried to reason with her, but her face looked determined.

"How about this: I'm Goddess damned tired of everyone hiding things from me and making decisions for me. How does that sound?" She fought back with fire in her eyes.

"See - this is why we didn't want to tell you. You want to run in and do things without thinking about them. For once in your life - can you just please trust us to talk to him, and trust him to come to you? I'm practically begging, Myri" Jyriah urged with pain in his eyes.

'You must learn to trust me, if I am going to trust you' she reminded herself of Metas' words, and took in a deep breath to steady herself.

"Okay," she relented and nodded affirmatively.

"Wait, really?" her brother let out in disbelief.

"Yes. Metas once asked me to trust him from afar. I'll do that - but you must at least try to get him to reason with the fact that I am an asset. If you do that, I'll sit back and wait - no matter how much it hurts," Myranda promisedand reached out to hug her brother without warning.

Joss smiled as he enjoyed the look of his mate's frozen face of shock melt into one of warmth and happiness. 'Thank you, Goddess' he prayed silently and looked upwards.

I think patience is one of the most important virtues one can have. It's super hard to master.

To my knowledge the only time patience isn't a virtue is when a bunch of hypnotized citizens break into a museum to kill you - but that's just what Rick O'Connell says.

....That's a reference to The Mummy if you aren't in the loop. The 90's version with Brendan Frasier is my favorite movie of all time ever. It is THE perfect movie. I watch it when I'm depressed a lot.

What's your favorite movie?

Recommenda film to me if you'd like! I may just watch it.

Thank you for reading! Have a fantastic day, noon, and night. May your dreams be sweet, and your sleep be great.
