chapter 2- new feelings

Edith's point of view

I looked in my closet for some clothes to wear as I found a dress that I haven't worn in a while, it was sky blue with little white flowers on it and perfect for the late summer weather we were getting. I half walked half jumped down the stairs after smelling bacon, my dad made it homemade and in my opinion, made the best! I walked inside and asked if I could have some

"Nope, its all mine!" He said as he gave me two pieces with less fat than the rest. "You gave me the less fatty pieces!" I said smiling. I hate the pig fat and my dad thought before handing me something which makes me smile. "Thanks, dad! That'll be a great start to the day!" I exclaimed while happily eating the bacon. I walked to the cupboard and grabbed a granola bar and a few packaged snack foods.

There's some cake in the fridge, we bought it when you were at that party! Yelled my dad as he left for work. I looked at the clock it was 8:20 and he was going to be late, he's a teacher in the town over and his class starts at 8:30. Well, I should head out too I guess?

Alex if you don't get you ass down here I'm leaving without you! "Coming! I just need to grab my head phonessss!!! My brother yelled while running down the stairs. He was always late but now that I think about it he's probably texting a significant other?

"Yo Alex? You got a girlfriend or boyfriend? I don't judge," I asked with a friendly shrug while smiling at him as he put on his shoes.

" nope, I'm still single! But I'm on the lookout!

After a few minutes of laughing, we started walking to school. We went to sprucewood lake high school which just happens to be quite far from where we live but since our parents took both cars to work we had to walk, I don't mind walking especially when Alex was with me but it still kinda sucks. "Hey Alex? Do you know what sexuality you identify as?" I walked on the curb of the sidewalk trying to balance but failing miserably. "Hmmm, I don't know? I like guys but you know girls are pretty great too, You know I don't care as long as they love me!" He said while laughing at the end " thanks Alex" I said softly smiling. "What's up with the topic of sexuality there Edith? Something happen at the party" he said it so slyly like he knew what happened, my face burned a bright red almost like cherries. "Oh ho ho! Something did happen!" He said while putting his arm around me and putting his face next to mine he whispered in my ear "something embarrassing happen~"

After gulping I told him that id tell him after school to which I got a small snicker and a happy okay.

Arriving at school Alex and I separated to go to our lockers and our homerooms which were across the school from each other, I grabbed my books and put my lunch in my locker to get later in the day. My homeroom teacher was super nice but she made me slightly uneasy with her happy vibe, happy people have secretes and the unknown makes me anxious. After homeroom, I had my favourite class History! I loved the teacher, Mr. Hendrick, however I found myself drifting off to think of the girl from the other night

"Edith, can you answer my question?"

"Hmmm? Um, can you repeat it for me.."

"Edith this may be a review but you must focus! Who was the first to circumnavigate the globe?"

"Oh, that's easy! Ferdinand Magellan was the first known to circumnavigate" I said with a smile

"Good now please focus, okay kiddo?"

"You got it" I replied happily now more focused into the class. After history, however, I couldn't focus at all and lunch came fast.

♢Lunch♢

"Hey, Alex!" I said while waving at him. I had my sandwich and was ready for Alex to tell me the drama he overheard during the day, to my excitement Alex sat near a popular student in his last class before lunch. Alex was decently popular but he didn't like hanging out with others much, he's more comfortable talking online I guess.

"I heard that Brooke slept with the teacher from Amy but that's probably just a rumour to get back at her for sleeping with her boyfriend," Alex explained while looking at Amy and then back at me before Amy would notice the stare.

"Wait really!? If that's true that's some juicy drama right there," I said laughing "anything else you heard today? Because I heard nothing"

"No sorry," he said before taking a bite of his own sandwich.

"Oooooh wait! Today in the girls' bathroom I was minding my business as usual when I noticed a new written graffiti thing in the stall! It said that Madalin slept with everyone on the sports team but let's face it we all kinda knew." I said before taking a large bite of my sandwich.

Alex and I talked for a bit enjoying our lunch period till the bell rang and we could take our recess break. Alex and I went to different clubs so we said our goodbyes till we went home. I happen to be in the art club so I happily made my way over there while humming a happy tune. When I got there I was excited to see that a teacher left us a note saying we could use the paper cutter, most days they said no because they are expensive to replace. I guess today we could finally use it so I decided to make my paper have one side slanted while the others had the original straight edge. It was so weird to have a cool addition on my art piece so I began taping it to the wood board the art room had for art. I decided that I was going to use pastels and pencil crayons for my piece and then started sketching my piece, it was a girl on her wedding and beside her, I drew another in a wedding dress. I was really in the zone and I hadn't heard the bell so I continued on till I had finished sketching and even begun on the background for the piece when my brother's hands covered my eyes enabling me to see. "What do you think you're doing Alex?" I said annoyed " the bell rang stupid and we have band now," he said with his happy smile that he only showed at school went talking about band class. Alex played the clarinet wheres I played the flute. I really love band but probably not as much as Alex, its not hard to see that he loves the class. Today to both of our disappointment we had a substitute, we ended up just replaying pieces from last week and the week prior. It was fun to play songs like bingo and jingle bells again.

After the fun but not as exciting as hoped class, we started heading home. Today was my day to make dinner and since I'm an overachiever i decided to also make some cookies, sugar cookies to be exact. For dinner, the plan is to make chicken Alfredo if the store has the type of noodles I want.

The store did have my noodles! I got all my ingredients and hurried home to make supper. After boiling water and starting the sauce I began cutting the chicken into smaller chunks and frying them. After everything was put on the stove to begin cooking I started to make the cookie batter. I choose to make them dinosaur-shaped for Dad since he used to say how he loved dino's. It took about an hour to make the batter and during that time I also finished and stirred the meal items. I put the cookies in the oven and called my brother downstairs to clean the dishes while I cleaned and set the table, I hate dishes so I'll often cook Alex's days so that I don't have dishes. After setting the table I called my dad into the kitchen and told him it was dinner time, the three of us sat down and started eating our meal. I like usual waited for someone to say something and to my surprise, dad spoke first.

" this tastes nice Edith! I really like this where'd you learn to cook it?" He asked enthusiastically

"I learnt from a classmate last month," I said smiling

"Thanks for doing the dishes Alex! Ooh yeah and after dinner, we can have dessert" I exclaimed rather happy.

After dinner, I decided to shower and then hit the hay. My cold shower was nice and my long hair felt nice and light after. I started braiding it then went to lay down. Soon later I felt the comfort of sleep take over my mind and body.
