SOME EXPLAING TO DO

We were all back in class, and yet some people (the wolfkin, who I later learned was know as Elvis Bareth) hadn't gotten over the skeleton thing.

Two pair of eyes were trained on me, one from Dyrus, and another from the boy from before, Alex. I'm guessing they all saw the little demonstration of the skeleton more so Alex understood the little word it spoke before his eyes returned to normal and the skeleton disintegrated to nothingness.

"Alright kids. Easy does it. It wasn't all that scary, so wipe those scared eyes from your faces," Flintheart began.

"Good news! All of you have a chance to compete for the inter-class competition but, with your current power level, you'd probably be wiped out," he said, carefully observing us.

A frown formed on everyone's faces. Like seriously, that wouldn't be a competition at all, that would be a mighty thrashing. When I say we're the rejects, I literally mean they had no where else to toss us. Class North, East and West all deserve to be here but us, we're just... well... existing.

"Don't look so glum, kiddos. I'll make sure that by then, you'll all be powerful enough to deal with the other classes, or my name isn't Dyrus Flintheart," Dyrus finished, giving us a wide smile.

The frowns on everyone's faces deepened further and others even started shaking in fear. I looked questionably at Flintheart who just chuckled at everyone's reaction

But before I could ask Bradley for more information, the bell rang. I think this is the second time I've seen such a stampede.

Monsters flew out of their desks at incredible speed that in under one minute, I was left alone with Flintheart, who didn't look the least bit surprised.

"What did you do?" I asked Flintheart while raising my eyebrow in question, trying to rake my brain for answers.

"That's a story for another day, Max. Now, how about you start explaining to me what the hell happened back there," he retaliated, his face losing its friendly smile.

"I'd like to, but just as you said "that's a story for another day,"" I answered, giving him a thumbs up as I rose from my desk and quickly moved to the door.

His eyes grew dangerously dark but immediately turned back to their normal purple glint. Not even I noticed this rapid change in his dementor as I rushed out of the room.

"That boy, is hiding something really serious. Lightning power, Ey? Good thing my skill picked up on his real power, otherwise he would have fooled me. If the king was to find out he had this..." Flintheart said, shaking his head with a look of displeasure on his face.

<Max! >

[What now?]

<I think that teacher friend of yours knows our little secret>

[WHAT?!]

<Calm down, my dude. I sense no hostility from him, and I'm sure he'll probably keep his mouth shut>

[I sure hope so. I don't want this work of silencing people who know about me]

Right now, I was heading in the direction of the cafeteria outside the building while still trying to recapture my past memories.

"Hmm. Why don't I seem to remember any of my memori–"

"Hey, Max! Hold up!" someone yelled from behind me. That irritating voice sounded very familiar.

"What do you want, Blade? I'm in no mood for light in my dark life," I said, turning to meet him coming towards my direction together with Bareth.

"Harsh! I'm offended! Bareth, bite him for me," he said, turning to him with a smile.

"You know, when you invited me for lunch, I actually thought you were going to apologize for your earlier insults. Guess I was wrong," Bareth said, turning to leave.

"It was just a joke! Come on man, don't go. Max, help me with him," he said looking at me pleadingly.

"I'm going for lunch. Anyone interested in following, good luck catching up," I said then immediately after shouted "Flashpoint!" before leaving them behind with a surprised look on their faces.

At the cafeteria, right after I had arrived, my eyes were scanning the prices, and I almost fainted in shock. Was I to try and buy something to eat from here, I'd probably go bankrupt with the little money I had.

*sigh*

Guess I have no choice then. I'll just have to put up with the day old grab. The school was generous enough to provide free lunch, but at a price: your stomach. Luckily, my stomach was trained for such hardships cause(duh) I was born in poverty. At least, I think so. For some reason, my childhood memories seemed to very distant from me, and I have no idea why.

"Hey, Max. How's it hang–what are you doing?" another familiar voice asked.

"Hey, Arnold. Just grabbing some food as all," I answered while my hand stretched for a suspicious looking burger.

"From there?! AW HELL NO! No friend of mine is gonna eat such trash! Pick anything else, the tabs on me," he said, pointing at the very pricy foodstuffs.

My hand unconsciously switched trajectory and grabbed an actual healthy burger even before I could think.

"Thanks, dude. Your kindness will not be forgotten," I said, tears forming in my eyes.

"Anytime, bro. Feel free to use me as your personal walking bank whenever your hungry," he said with a laugh.

We soon chose a table after filling a not so little tray with foodstuffs, Bareth and Blade joining us after they too had grabbed what they required.

*five minutes later*

"So, your nickname was Illumi?" Arnold asked Blade whose face was a shade red after telling us about his previous school.

"Never call me that. But yes, and–Bareth, wipe that smile off your face!" he answered, staring daggers at Bareth.

"I guess not everyone has a good backstory. Mine ain't any better but still..." Bareth trailed off as he took another bite of the huge chunk of meat he had brought with him.

"Speaking of which, have they ever known the cause of the many demon hordes or are they still clueless?" I asked everyone.

"You still don't know?" Blade asked.

"How are you in camp in the first place if you don't know why you are even here? What did you think coming to camp would benefit you with?" Arnold asked with a surprised look on his face.

"I don't know, gain helpfull skills for future survival?"

"They really should have called you the country bumkin in your school," Bareth replied.

"They did," I said, bringing everyone at the table to tears with laughter.

"Anyways, here's the whole story," Arnold began, as he wiped a drop of whatever he was drinking from his mouth.

"The Elf king had a banquet and invited all the leaders of factions. The Demon king was present with his daughter at the time. Somehow, his daughter slipped out of his sight and when searched for, she was later found killed, with traces of beast mana present. The Demon king declared war on the Beast king thus bringing the many Demon hordes to attack us," Arnold finished and took another large sip of his juice.

"Way to summerise a mellenial long story like that," Bareth muttered.

"Wait. That doesn't make sense. Didn't the beast king try to explain himself?" I asked.

"Oh he tried, alright. Almost led to a one on one match up that would have shaken the very foundations of this dimension. Luckily, the Beast king left the premises, leaving a fuming Demon king to deal with," Bareth answered.

"So, what's the Demon king's goal now?"

"To obtain absolute chaos as revenge," a voice from behind said.

We all froze before slowly turning our heads to meet up with the owner of the voice, a girl's. We all gasped in shock when we saw her. She looked like, well...have you ever imagined having a girlfriend that brought men to their knees? She's that kind of girl.

White hair with bright red eyes and a soft delicate face, that's how she looked. She had cute bat-like wings fluttering behind her back, and her curves were evidently shown on the tight red battle armor she wore that matched with the black leather jacket that looked a little too small for her figure.

"Hello boys? And, oh yeah, goodbye!" she said, not letting us admire her more before she shouted, "Mayhem Descend!"

<Umm... Max?>

[Yeah?]

<RUN! >

[No need to tell me twice]

We all split in different directions before the table we were previously on was completely obliterated to ash with a red beam of light.

"WHAT THE WHAT?!" I screamed in shock as the girl stretched her hand outwards and a giant red sword materialized out of thin air together with a red orb. She then used her wings to gain some height before she lifted the orb upwards, which began glowing a powerful red.

"DEMONS!" Arnold shouted as he flew towards me at lightning speed.

"Don't worry guys, the teachers are here. They'll protect us!" someone in the hall shouted as a form of encouragement while multitudes of red portals began opening up all around the school.
