Monster Within The Silence

The most dangerous thing about Rem in a fight was his eyes – the gray orbs could see everything that occurred on the battle field in real time, breaking down techniques before his very eyes. They were very important in Rem's line of work, for some one that lived in the slums, your eyes gave away your every move.

Rem flipped in the air and his feet landed on the ground as he maintained his stability much to Mika's annoyance.

"You don't go down easily, do you?" Mika asked as more soul energy wrapped around her sword yet again.

Rem didn't utter a word as he assumed a combat stance, raising his sword above his shoulders and darting his eyes toward Mika.

"You coming or not?" Rem said with a taunting glare, initiating the first sequence of manipulating the battle into his hands- Taunts.

When one dealt with combat, they had to weigh all the possibilities and clear a path to victory which wasn't easy.

Mika gritted her teeth, ensuring herself that she would not fall victim to Rem's troublesome tactics as she began running toward him, with each step she took, The Sword in her palm let out a more vibrant glow.

It took her quite some seconds to close the distance between herself and Rem, the bubbling energy surging around her blade as she brought it down – Mika let out a gasp of surprise as Rem took the strike head-on with his Shortsword, both weapons clashing and their respective auras raging across the arena.

Mika was forced backward by Rem's victory in the confrontation and she gritted her teeth as she spun around and sent a kick sailing right to the boy's head.

'No explosion this time,' Rem noted as he squatted and dodged Mika's strike, counterattacking with a thrust from his sword – packed with soul energy. Mika didn't overreact, her eyes glowing slightly as the sword drew closer to her face.

Mika raised her blade, the magic Iron sword which was engulfed by a pink aura and defended herself against the strike… her body being propelled backward but her goal had been achieved, multiple bubbles formed from the residuals of her soul energy took shape behind Rem and her smirk widened as she already made considerable distance between herself and Rem…

'There's no way he would be able to see through that,' Mika thought as she dug her sword into the ground, the force of propulsion being slowed down in an instant and her feet touched the ground – she was confident that she had won.

The balls of pink energy behind Rem detonated, encasing the Apprentice's body within the pink explosion… web-like cracks spread across the ground.

Krista observed the two Apprentices having it off and her eyes sparkled as she witnessed Rem remain unfazed even though the odds were against him... She couldn't stop thinking about the battle, her eyes going across the field in an attempt to witness everything going on.

Mika reached out to grab her sword only to notice something on the hilt of her magical weapon, green aura coated the tip and the pressure around her was beginning to rise.

"For real?" Mika muttered before the Magic Iron sword exploded, her back slamming against the wall instantly as saliva escaped from her lips, "How… did… he?"

Her eyes although shaky were perfectly able to gaze at the spot where her soul balls had exploded, only to see Rem stand there with some scratches on his expressionless face.

Mika fell down from the wall, her body slumping on the ground yet her eyes could not leave Rem's figure each time he took a step closer to her… Rem soon stood before her and his fingers graced her hair, only to pull her head up the next moment to meet his face- Mika could see his dark eyes, devoid of any emotion staring at her, it was almost like he was seeing through her soul.

'Those eyes… they're dangerous,' Mika thought while gulping, yet she couldn't help but get lost in them- they looked beautiful.

"You really think I wouldn't understand the trick you're using?" Rem questioned while his fingers gripped her hair more forcefully – if they were on normal terms, she would have fought back but Rem had made something clear… Not only was his explosion more powerful than all of her's combined, the wall was also reinforced and slamming her back into it made her bones feel weary.

"Gathering your soul energy and granting it a shape, making sure the soul energy within is volatile to exploding – all these I can see," Rem muttered under his breath while letting go of her hair and letting her face drop to the ground without a hint of emotion.

Mika was soon carried away by some maids, the Magic Iron sword lay strewn across the ground in broken bits, shattered by the explosiveness of Rem's soul energy.

Maria couldn't help but whimper a little at the battle that unfolded before her- she was rooting for Maria to have a clean win because of the three factors she had in her arsenal, The first was her mastery over the Magic Weapon; She had been practicing with the Magic Iron Sword for over a month now, The next was her apparent speed over Rem, but after witnessing this battle, she could confidently say that the boy was hiding a few aces up his sleeves and the third would be her proficiency in Soul energy control, it wasn't easy to manipulate soul energy.

Enhancing your weapon by the use of Soul energy was an easy task but maintaining the flow of soul energy going to your weapon was the problem. From what she had witnessed Rem do, not only was he able to perform Mika's Soul Bomb, which concentrated a very volatile amount of Soul energy into a ball and encased the opponent within an explosion – but he was able to maintain a steady flow of Soul energy into his Magical weapon, although he reduced the volume at times, Maria was sure that Rem did not stop reinforcing his weapon with soul energy.

Her eyes locked with his, emotionless pairs of grey… she could almost picture it, a monster hidden within the silence.
