Avery's POV

Three maidens came and began dressing me up for the meeting.

"Do any of you know how Mary is faring?"I asked.

"I don't know anyone named Mary"One replied and the other two nodded.After a long boring time they were done and I went to the throne room where the meeting will be taking place. I sat beside Liam and saw how their eyes were scrutinizing me.

"This is queen Avery . The queen of Alonza kingdom" Liam said and they all stood and bowed before me.

"King Lazarus' daughter you're supposed to be married to is named Anastasia. Who then is queen Avery ?"One of the council members asked and I swallowed my saliva.

"Am Avery , second daughter of king Lazarus" I said and heard some scoff .

"Our kingdom sent a marriage proposal for the first daughter. Not the illegitimate second daughter "Another council member said and that hit the spot.

"Illegitimate or not. Am your queen" I said and they began to murmur. Liam should at least say one thing in my favour.

"My king, an illegitimate daughter can not rule us as queen.Marooni kingdom will face our wrath for tricking us into marrying her"Another council member said I got nervous.I don't want my people to suffer for my wrong.

"The king is the one marrying me and he's not said anything about it. What rights do you have to punish my kingdom?Am not married to any of you "I said.

"The queen is right. If the king does not have a problem with having her by his side as queen then we have no right to punish Marooni kingdom.I do admire her confidence. I hope our queen rules the kingdom in a good way by the side of the king"A council member that has not said anything since the meeting spoke and I smiled. Finally , someone that is sensible has spoken .

"The meeting is over" Liam said and they all began to leave.

"Welcome to Alonza kingdom, queen Avery" The kind council member spoke before leaving.

"Thanks for your support, my king"I said sarcastically and he just left. Maybe he's not loving like I thought.

Liam's POV

I purposely said nothing throughout the meeting. The agenda of the meeting was the least on my mind. I was more concentrated on hearing the inner thoughts of those old men. I need to confirm my suspicion.

I went to the room and saw Avery reading a book.

"I didn't know you loved these kind of books, Avery" I said and she dropped the book out of shock.

"You startled me and I randomly picked the book .I didn't know it's content before bringing it here. Am returning it now" She said and stood up to leave when I held her back.

"How about you share the lessons you've learnt from that book with me" I whispered to her ears while sniffing her neck with my nose.

"I...learnt nothing "She said and I smashed my lips on hers.I kissed her shortly and let her go.

"You taste good "I said and licked my lips.

"You don't need to return the book. Leave it on the table" I said and she stared at me curiously.

"Can't you let that hoodie out since its just you and I here?"She asked.

"Do you love seeing my face that much?"I asked.

"You look creepy when your face is covered. You kind of look evil" She said.

"I won't say am not "I replied and the next second my hood was out of my head letting my face display.

"You look handsome. Why do you cover your face?"She asked.

"Cause you'll fall in love and the moment you do, you'll be trapped in the abyss of pain" I said and she laughed.

"Seems like you read fiction books a lot"She said.

"Not as much as you read erotic books" I replied and she gasped.

"I don't. I got this book by accident"She said and I smirked.

"Is that so , Avery ?"I asked.

"Yes" She replied.

"If you say so" I shrugged and I heard a knock on the door.I opened the door and a maid bowed before me.

"Lady Penelope is here, my king" She said with her head still low.

"Leave "I ordered and she left.

"Who's Penelope?"Avery asked.

"You'll know when you meet her. Let's go" I said and left with Avery.

"Liam" Penelope called when she saw me.

"I've missed you so much" She said and hugged me. I listened to Avery's heartbeat and sensed a little jealousy. What's she jealous about ?

"I heard you got married " She said and I nodded.

"Meet queen Avery "I said and she glanced at Avery.

"Nice meeting you queen Avery" She said and Avery smiled.

"Nice meeting you too , lady Penelope" Avery replied.

"We need to talk in private , Liam" Penelope said and I shook my head.

"Say whatever you want to say in my wife's presence. We're married anyway"I replied and she scoffed .

"We'll talk later "She said and signalled the maid to carry her luggage.

"No, I'll give you some privacy. I was busy in the room anyway "Avery said and left. Penelope walked into the throne room with me and cast a barrier on the door to prevent anyone from hearing our conversation.

"Is she the next sacrificial lamb?"She asked.

"What else does it look like?"I asked her back .

"You have to stop this, Liam .So many girls have died already" She said and I shrugged.

"Her soul is pure. She doesn't deserve this" Penelope said .

"You should have accorded her son's respect instead of being so rude to her after all her soul is pure" I said.

"You don't expect me to respect a human of that age do you?"She asked.

"Whatever. Am sure you're not here to preach to me. So why are you here?"I asked.

"I think vampires have successfully penetrated into the human realm" She said and I sharply turned to her.

"Isn't the portal sealed?"I asked.

"It got weak after the mess you created"She replied.

"They're getting stronger, Liam .This is the wrong time for you to leave" She said.

"The ritual is almost complete. I should at least do this to rectify the error I did centuries ago" I said.

"Let this go. We need you and you know it. They'll destroy every single human soul on earth" She said.

"Humans deserve it. You should be talking with Xavier. He's the one that makes sure there's peace everywhere" I said.

"Shame on you , Liam" She said and left the throne room.
