Goodbye

"Mother " was all I could say as I stared into the nothingness of her eyes .

My first reaction surprisingly was not anger as it would have usually been .

It was not like my mother to do a thing like this and for her to be able to pull something like this and for the first time , there had to be a very good reason.

"Mother , what's wrong " I walked towards her cautiously and very worried indeed .

"Mother speak to me" I pleaded .

She looked at me emptily as the council of werewolves walked in as if they owned the place .

Each one of them wearing a serious face of their own .

"What in the..." Was my only reaction .

Getting to secure a meeting with the council to even accept a rogue as pack member was considered a feat .

But for some reason , they had gotten off their high thrones and were here at my pack .

"This ceremony cannot proceed" The Head of the council announced as everyone gasped in disbelief.

It wasn't everyday that you saw the members of the council and they bearing had news was definitely going to shock you .

Suddenly , anger tried to take over the calm façade I had built .

I took in several deep breaths as I tried to calm my nerves and hold my tongue.

But it seemed my tongue had plans of it's own .

"I am going to ask this just once " I echoed looking directly into the eyes of the council head.

"What is the reason you entered my pack without permission and also halted my ceremony" I added as my anger rose by the second .

"This" The council head said as he slowly put up a book he had been carrying for everyone present to see.

"This happens to be a kind of constitution for us werewolves . Most of you might not know but it has guided us and protected our very existence " He paused .

"It is the very book we use to judge cases and it guides everything we do as super naturals in this world" He looked pointedly at me.

"A very important article in here states and I quote , an Alpha and only an Alpha is to be made Alpha King. He should have ruled for four years or more " He continued still failing to state the reason he had rudely interrupted the ceremony.

"I do believe I meet those requirements " I cut him short as my temper was still on the rise .

"If you would let me finish" He snapped .

"He should be accepted by all werewolves to be their ruler and most importantly he should be married to his mate who is to me marked and presented to the pack as their Luna" He ended as I finally understood where all this was going .

"The reason why this is mandatory is that for one to be able to rule over all of us , he needs to be in touch with his passionate side and don't forget when one finds his mate he is blessed with more power which in your case will go a long way to give you the strength needed to be the great ruler you have to be " He made his point which failed to make the point he desired to make .

"Now that you have said what you like , I would also like to speak . Thank you for letting me know but I can run perfectly fine without a mate or anything of the sort" I challenged as a couple of people who knew what I was capable of nodded in agreement.

All this time , my mother hadn't said a single word and she did very well in avoiding my gaze.

"My dear boy , myself and everyone present here know what you're capable of and we know you can rule just fine . But it is law for a reason ." The vice head spoke up this time trying to make me see reason .

Seeing as I wasn't seeing reason , my mother finally spoke up with traces of tears evident in her eyes .

"There is a dark side to being a werewolf and moreso a male one and an Alpha . You are still green and you do not know what that dark side is capable of . You will need a woman , a Luna who has a pacifying side to your dark side . Please " My mother tried to get me to see reason as she spoke softly to me .

"You know very well that finding a mate is not just a walk in the park" I pleaded .

"You would have found your mate a long time ago if you hadn't stopped the mates search and ball" She accused as I rolled my eyes at her deliberate attempt to make me bring back the absurd tradition .

"You more than anyone else know very well that if that search and ball combo had continued many attacks from the rogues would have materialized like in the past " I informed .

"But you know it took away the rest of the young pack member's rights to find their mates . You must find your mate Max and that's an order . End of discussion" She put up her index to stop me from speaking.

"I would have to refuse " I defied daring anyone to say otherwise .

"You leave me no choice Max" She spat as I looked at her in utmost confusion as she put up her right hand in front of everyone.

That could only mean one thing....

"I , Luna Grande of the Blood Moon Pack . Declare that as of today you are no longer a member of the Blood Moon Pack. You are to leave at to not return until you have found your mate" She declared softly and cast her eyes to the ground .

She had invoked her last power of the Moon Goddess and I had no choice but to oblige .

"How could you do this to me " I looked at her unbelieving .

How could my own mother go out of her own way just to make my life miserable.

"It is all for your own good . You have 24 hours to leave " She added just making things worse .

"I'll make it easier for you then , I'll leave in the hour " I walked away looking back only once to seeing the teary face of Landon and the pain etched on London's face just as my mom fell to the ground with uncontrollable tears .

London running to hold her was the last thing I saw before walking away , for good.
