Chapter 1Stormy Sky

I opened my eyes to a dark, stormy sky. The air was cold and suffocating, as if it were filled with poison.

I was lying on the ground, my clothes soaked from the rain.

I tried to sit up, but I was too weak. I looked around, and I saw that I was in a forest.

The trees were twisted and gnarled, and the leaves were a sickly green. I knew that I was in a cursed place.

I had no idea where I was or who I was. I looked around in terror, my heart pounding in my chest. I couldn't control my fear.

I looked down at my hand and gasped.

It wasn't a human hand at all. My fingers were long and slender, with sharp talons at the tips.

My skin was a pale, translucent white, and my veins were pulsing blue beneath the surface. I had no idea what this thing was, but it wasn't human.

All I remember about my past is that I was human. Everything else is a void. I have no memory of my childhood, my family, or my friends

I pressed my hand against my forehead, trying to squeeze out any memories, but my mind was blank. Only one voice echoed in my mind: Run away. I didn't know who I was or where I was, but I knew that I had to listen to that voice. I had to get away.

I forced myself to my feet, my strange body aching all over. It didn't matter. I had to run. I didn't know who or what I was running from, but I knew I had to get away. I looked around, my eyes darting back and forth.

I dashed into the forest, my heart pounding in my chest. I was terrified, and tears streamed down my face. My weak body collided with trees and stones, but I didn't stop. I didn't know how long I'd been running or where I was going, but I knew I had to keep going.

I didn't know what was chasing me, but I knew I had to keep running. I could hear it behind me, getting closer. It was a sound that I could never forget, a sound that made my blood run cold.

I tripped over a root and fell, scraping my hands and knees. I scrambled to my feet and ran on, tears streaming down my face. I was lost and alone, and I didn't know if I would ever make it out of this forest alive.

I ran for what felt like hours, until I could run no more. I collapsed on the ground, gasping for breath. I was exhausted, terrified, and I didn't know what to do.

I sat there for a long time, listening to the sounds of the forest. The birds were singing, the wind was rustling through the leaves, and the sun was shining through the trees. It was a beautiful day, but I couldn't enjoy it.

I knew that the thing that was chasing me was still out there, somewhere in the forest. I was safe for now, but I knew that I couldn't stay here. I had to find a way to get out of here.

I stood up and started walking, slowly at first, but then with more confidence. I wasn't sure where I was going, but I knew that I had to keep moving.

I started to smell a pleasant scent coming from far away. It was a fresh, clean scent, like rain on dry earth, or like the first day of spring. I had been so hungry and thirsty, and this scent gave me hope.

I followed the scent, and soon I came to a river. The water was clear and sparkling, and it flowed over smooth stones. I could see fish darting in the pools, and birds singing in the trees above.

I cupped my hands and scooped up some water. I drank it greedily, and it was the most delicious thing I had ever tasted. It was cold and refreshing, and it quenched my thirst immediately.

I sat down on the bank of the river and took a deep breath. I closed my eyes and listened to the sound of the water flowing by. It was a peaceful sound, and it calmed my nerves.

I opened my eyes and looked around. The forest was lush and green, and the sun was shining through the leaves. It was a beautiful place, and I felt grateful to be alive.

The idyllic scene turned sour as I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the river. My human visage was replaced with the grotesque features of a rabbit: long, floppy ears; a twitchy nose; and bulging red eyes. Green liquid coursed through my veins, pulsing beneath my translucent skin.

I reached up to touch my face, my fingers encountering soft fur and coarse whiskers. My hands had become paws, complete with sharp claws. I tried to speak, but all that emerged was a high-pitched squeak. I was trapped in the body of a rabbit.

Panic surged through me. I was alone in the forest, with no idea how to return to my human form. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I contemplated my uncertain future.

But then I remembered the river. Its crystal-clear waters had tasted so refreshing, perhaps they held the key to my salvation. I stood up and staggered to the water's edge, gazing at my reflection with a mixture of hope and fear.

Taking a deep breath, I plunged into the river. The cold water shocked my system, but I persevered, swimming to the center of the river and closing my eyes.

I imagined myself reverting to my human form, my rabbit features melting away as I emerged from the water. I focused on the feeling of my skin thickening, my bones strengthening, and my muscles growing.

When I opened my eyes, I expected to see my human face reflected in the water. But instead, I was met with the same grotesque features of a rabbit.

A wave of despair washed over me. I had hoped that the river would break the spell, but I was still trapped in this animal body.

I sighed and turned to leave, but again, a voice inside me whispered, "Beware." The forest was silent, save for the rustle of leaves and the chirp of birds. But my senses were heightened, and I could feel the presence of danger.

I took a step forward, then hesitated. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched. I turned around slowly, scanning the trees. But all I saw were shadows dancing in the flickering sunlight.

I took another step forward, and then another. I was determined to leave this forest, even if it meant facing whatever danger awaited me.

Suddenly, a searing pain shot through my arm. I cried out and clutched my wounded limb. I glanced down and saw an arrow protruding from it, the fletching still quivering.

I looked up, my eyes wide with shock. A figure emerged from the trees, its face hidden in the shadows.

"I hit him!" the figure boomed; its voice filled with malice.

I staggered backward, my heart pounding in my chest. I was alone, unarmed, and wounded. I knew I was in grave danger.

The exhaustion from my previous ordeal hit me like a wave, and my legs gave out. I collapsed to the ground, my breath coming in ragged gasps. I looked up at the footsteps heading towards me, my heart pounding in my chest. I didn't know what fate awaited me

I knew nothing. I didn't know why this was happening to me, or who was chasing me. I didn't know where I was or how to get out of here. I even didn't know my name All I knew was that I was in danger.

The footsteps drew closer, and I could hear the angry voice of my pursuer.

"I've got him now," he said. "The cursed creature."

"curs"

I closed my eyes and braced myself for the end.

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
