On land there's more suprises

This time I woke on the shore near the boat rental service. River and Nico were nowhere to be seen but Gwen was sitting nearby. Beside her, I saw Lily's body and the other girl from the cave. Unlike River, she didn't even notice when I woke. She seemed preoccupied with something and most likely wouldn't have noticed if I shouted in her face that Maya was dead. Instead, I sat down next to her and was silent.

Eventually, she turned to me and said "You know I'm the only hunter right."

I shook my head and said "You're not. I'm joining you. Together we can rebuild the hunters from the start."

That's when I started to float. I looked up and there was a bow and arrow above my head. When I landed Gwen was staring mouth wide open at me.

"You are not really my child but you have shown your courage so I will accept you as my own." said a voice I vaguely remembered.

Behind Gwen stood Artemis. Still as a young girl. Next to her stood a boy about 15 years old. He looked like the kind of boy who spent his whole life either at the gym or at the beach. He was also radiating with energy quite literally. As they walked up he flickered in and out of existence like he wasn't really there.

When they stopped Artemis spoke again "This is my brother. Or what he used to look like. As You know he's been missing a long time. Your task is to find him recruiting other hunters along the way." then she turned to me "now that you are a hunter you have become immortal unless you were to die in battle in which case you would stay dead."

I nodded still unsure about my impulsive decision to join Gwen.

"You know May still has to finish the quest you sent her on?" Said, Gwen

"But she already has. She found my hunters and has joined you. All we need to do is get you back to camp."

With that, the world disappeared around us and we found ourselves in Artemis's cabin with Nico and River standing nearby.

River ran up to me and threw her arms around my neck "Thank the gods you're ok! I thought I killed you!"

"I'm fine. I slam into walls of water as a side job." I joked

River seemed to have determined I was ok because she walked up to Artemis

"Who are you?" she asked

"I am Artemis. But I must go now. Also, I wouldn't go on any quests anytime soon. Apollo will soon return to give proper prophecies again."

And she was gone. Abandoned by my adoptive mother. Though not completely, three beds had come out of the walls of the cabin. One with my name, one with Gwen's, and one that said, Nico.
