Chapter 6: so you say I'm screwed

"So you work for them now?" Julia asks eyes upfront not looking at her sister.

She was relatively taller than Julia. Their skin looked pretty much the same. Every human pretty much had not so dark skin but not light. It had something to do with living in space and extra melanin for UV light absorption.

One could cosmetically change their complexion however they wanted, but it was not common, atleast in Olivers and Julia's choice of trade where someone can make a fist sized hole through your head using a gun for not looking like who you normally do.

She did not answer back ans to julia, that was an invitation to go at her even more. The walked into the elevator and it shut as they were looking the way they came dramatically not blinking.

"You could be a god in this universe with the brain in your head and you waste time with pathetic Bounty hunters." she was a tad angry at her.

She had now turned to look at her eyes to some how understand how two people so similar we're so different. Lexa turned to look at her.

" Some of us actually want to do something meaningful and help beings rather than conquer all in search of never ending riches. I'm not as selfish and ignorant as you are sister! I won't sit by when all the history and culture of us humans gets wiped by the blight!" lexa snapped at her after which the elevator doors opened.

The corridor was well lit with directions to every room on the specific floor. Right outside the elevator, a list indicating what department occupied every floor. The list was on every floor of the entire base.

They were six floors below ground on intoregation. It was a huge complex and they needed a sort of golf van looking vehicle to carry them to the room Manos had booked.

A few turns and a multitude of glances by everyone they met on the way. They finally got to interogation 34 and julia was handed to an interrogation officer for initial procedural questioning.

Lexa went to the one way glass room adjacent to Julias intorregation room. She was cooperative with the intorregation. After the formalities Manos time had come, she had to go to the room to talk to her.

"i hope she isn't as stuborn as you are." Manos cracks a joke as she leaves.

"knock yourself out." lexa smiles at her and takes a pair of headphones.

Manos walks out the door and immediately into the next door.

"Good evening, I'm Manos." she introduces herself.

Julia stares at her with an expressionless demeanor.

"let me be quick. You have thousands of ships and we face the end of humanity as we know it. We want them here, in this system to protect earth, mars, mars prime and and jupiter. As you know they are the most important worlds in the system." Manos was quick.

" its chilly in here. "julia said rubbing her biceps.

She had a black cropped vest top on with some cargo pants and boots. For someone nicknamed the princess, it was odd clothing to be seen in. She had to maintain her image of estranged royalty, high and mighty above the common folk. Its was a rich people thing that most people were too poor to get or didn't give two shits about.

Using a contact lens in her right eye and the implant in her spine, Manos upped the room temperature and looked Julia dead in the face.

"Ahhhhh, well what can i say, you wasted time getting me here." Julia calm as the trees before a storm.

"Enlighten us then," Manos matched her calmess and threw in a bit of sassy attitude.

"I'm sure Lexa has told you much about my life. She's told you how we are children of a benevolent king that was overthrown and ended." gesturing the cutting of ones throat by sliding her index finger across her neck.

To add to her performance, she grinned her face and twitched her eyes. She stood up and walked close to the one sided mirror with lexa on the other side. In a stroke of luck, maybe, she stood facing directly where lexa was seated and continued to monologue.

"she most definitely has told you about how i fratenised with an interstellar merchant and got all that he had when he fucked right off the galaxy. I know she calls me selfish, bigoted towards authority and most importantly how dangerous i really am." She smiled and continued to walk round the room, looking around as if she was studying it.

" She is right for the most part. "she talked in a low tone almost fast pacing the words off her mouth.

Manos didn't want to interupt her, he wanted her to reveal something involuntarily. She was too smart to do so, but it was worth a shot.

Silence.

The clicking sound of her boots filled the room as if it became louder with every step she took. Manos found it annoying but didn't mind it.

Lexa in the room adjacent knew this was ultimately a waste of time and would rather wait for plan B to commence. It was a borderline insanity plan she managed to whip up with Manos, if it worked it would be genius.

"Like you were, let me be quick, in my 2,500 years of existence, keeping in mind that i have seen primitive planets with people swallowed by supernovae, i have never seen a people as monumentally fucked as you are." she sat down.

Manos had heard enough. She stood up and looked at her deep into her eyes, as if some how, she could see her soul.

" I don't care if you are the Andromeda celestial or a gush of wind, the government can keep you here for as long as we want, you won't help now but soon you will help." she up and left immediately.

She got in to the other room, calm as if she didn't just yell at someone in the previous instance.

" Shouldn't you be a half a bottle of vodka down at milky? "Manos looked at Lexa.

" Welp, thats my cue. Let me hurry, before olie and Ari are too drunk to talk about anything. "Lexa said as she stood up and left.
