" The butler's secret hole" Ch 6

Previously: My dumbass got lost again, I found a letter, had a one on one fight with oldy, snuck out at night, and now I'm gonna get eaten!.

I freeze beneath the touch closing my eyes tightly, "mistress?"

I open my eyes and let my body relax at the familiar sound.

(This voice sounds familliar.)

I turn my back just to find Clara standing.. also noticing that the window is now closed.

"Clara why are you here?"

I look at her, my eyes filled with disbelief.

(She isn't suppose to be here. )

Clara tugs my gown and speaks in a low voice, "I was sleeping here."

I jerk my head up. My face looking at her nervously. (No way, the maids have their own building to live at. )

Clara notices the suspiscion on my face and starts fiddling her fingers as she shifts her eyes." Mistress to tell you the truth, is I ran away."

Aftet processing for a moment I let out a sound of relief.

(At least she isn't a ghoul.)

I stare at the child as I clear my heavenly voice, "that's fine, since you're here already, why don't you help me out? "Clara's eyes shine as she nods aggressively.

(It's been 30 minutes or more like an hour.)

I slam another book on the table, "There is no book with Korean or English translation!"

I rage with anger as Clara looks at me confusingly. "I've already checked 5 of the shelves. "

I sigh and sit on the table laying my tired head on it as I look at the letter I'm holding.. in my hand. (What is actually written on it?), I put down the letter as my eyes, slowly drift into darkness.

"Duchess is go-"

"Ring the alarm!"

"FBI!"

I open my eyes by hearing weird noises. I wake up while rubbing my eyes as Clara snores on the chair beside me . My hair ahem wig being a mess.

(Why are they saying duchess FbB?)

I look at the door, coming to my senses a little bit, "Duchess is gone!"

I zap through the sound my eyes. fully awake, "FBI! "

(Seriously why is oldly calling FBI in this era?)

I look around the table, and spot the letter. I quickly grab it and leave the library , as Clara continues her drooling . I ramp through the hallway like a model while fixing my

hair as the noise gets louder.

"The duchess is gone!"

I head towards an unknown path where the noise is coming from. After a minute of trailing the noise it leads me to a large door. (Now time to shut this oldy off!)

I push the door open in a dramatic way and- "wha-"

(I.am. utterly. speechless) The room had a stair going down to a giant living room and in front was,

"the exit!"

I shout as the butler and other maids look up. My face brightly lit.

(Now I know why Scarlet never got out! she never found the exit!)

Oldy comes running up to me and giving me his usual greetings, "duchess may I know where were you this whole time? oldy glance at me, digging holes with his eyes.

(Aish! Look at his face, it clearly says I gave him diabetes.)

I fix my heavenly voice, "ahem! I was studying inside the library."

After hearing the word it seems like oldy was about to fall but he fixed his posture quickly.

"What did you study in the middle of the night?"

[In the middle of night, In the middl-]

"stop! I mean how did u- " I ask as my face fills up with guilt, the butler was still glancing at me.

"Duchess, it seems like you forgot that every door in this mansion contains magic. And the magic coming from you clearly tells that you invaded the library last night."

I step back, my face showing a sudden hint of nervousness.

(Magic can tell time!?)

I step back some more, my back now leaning on the staircase handle. "Oldy, you see, I was just eager to learn something new."

Oldy processes my words for a moment then gives me a nod easing the tension on my face. "Well then, please go inside now."

The butler leads me inside as I keep staring back at the exit.

(No! my freedom! )

and the giant door closes, time passes by and I'm already inside my room, sitting on my bed.

"I need a plan to escape." The cheerful girl laying on the mattress jumps up, surprised.

"Why mistress?"

I look towards the empty ceiling, my expression matching with it.

"You know, it's boring inside the castle and-" I pick my head up seeing Clara making a face saying that she understood everything.

"Mistress wanna go outside?" I nod and at the same time release a sigh.

"Don't worry I went outside the castle multiple times!" Clara speaks in a cheerful tone, as my attention finally goes to her.

"How is the outside?" I ask curiously.

(Though I've known enough from the novel. )

Clara bites her nails for a while then mumbles with the finger still inside her mouth.

"It's pretty, they have a huge garden! And also a forest where water is as transparent as glass!"

I raise my eyebrows as I smile, "Clara can you help me a bit?" Clara nods, excitement showing on her face.

"Get me the keys of the main door?"

Clara was about to run but then stops. "Mistress, it will take ten days."

I smile and give her a nod, and she excitingly runs off, closing the door. As the door closes my eyes fills with tears. As I keep my smile unchanged.

[ Oh I hope someday I'll make it out of here~]

"Stop!"

Tears filling my eyes more, "ten more freaking days!" my voice echoes through the castle.

(I'm here sitting or shitting inside the library together with oldy, five days have been passed since my fake escape. And Clara has been bringing information ever since.)

(Ok skip! this is getting boring.)

[A nice old library where Scarlet is sitting with a book in her hands as Clara looks outside the window filled with the view of the night sky. Both of them looking happy or so.]

"Ugh! It's been 8 days, Clara, how can you be sure it will take 10 days!?"

I shout surprising Clara and after a moment later she also gets depressed,

"I can't do it, because oldy puts it inside his hole! "

Clara also shouts with her eyes closed and teary. I widen my eyes as a bluish hue shows up on my face.

"He shoves it in his hole?the keys!?"

I shout, surprised but also disgusted.

"Yes.."

Clara nods, tears still flowing from her eyes. I stand up and hug her, joining her in her crying.

"It's so disgusting right?" I ask as Clara nods, sniffing her nose.

"And he puts it in the kitchen!" she screams.

"So awful! Wha-"

I pause, "Clara dear?" I smile tears still stuck in my eyes.

"Yes"

Clara replies looking up to me. "Where is the key?"

Clara wipes her tears as she holds my hand. "Let me show you."

.....

(Ah, so that's it.)

We both were now standing inside the kitchen as she points towards the high shelve.

"Mistress, inside that shelf hole. " I glance at the shelf which matches my height.

(So this is oldy's hole? It's too wide.)

I reach up to the shelf opening it carefully. My face shines bright like a diamond.

[Shine bright like a diamond! ]

"shh!"

I grab the key and jump in victory, as Clara joins my happiness. "Now mistress will stay happy."

I nod and we head to our happily ever after until a fart noise comes. I stop and widen my eyes as a dark silhouette covers the door.

"Oldy?"
