Blind Ruler's Challenge Part 4 Chapter 9

After a few hours of figuring out my mana control and thinking of different ways to utilize mana, I was now ready to face them again.

As I stood in place, my breathing in control, My spirit steady, I grabbed the bow and Steadily made my way to the field. The Wind blows its calming wind as usual but my stand in this field was different.

".…"

Staring at the red line, I remembered the feeling in my body, the numbness I felt every time I fall to a Blade. Almost every part of me felt the same numb cold feeling a blade did to me.

"...How many times does this make now?"

"hooo…" exhaling the air out of me, I stepped into the Field once again.

The bow faced the Direction of the nearest enemy, and my Mana immediately emerged out of my body.

"Hnn!"

Expelling out already 10 percent of my mana. The sudden surge of energy alerted the Warriors.

Not giving them time, I immediately reached out to my quiver and grabbed 3 Arrows, 1 placed in the string while the 2 hangs by my fingers.

~Swoosh!~

~Swoosh!~

~Swoosh!~

The Shots was fired at rapid pace that the Warriors didn't have time to dodge the Attack.

*Thud!*

*Thud!*

*Thud!*

As the three shots hits the Three warriors, one was pushed back by the force of the Shot while the other was simply standing in place bleeding out as he realized the arrow went through his body. And thirdly the other warrior carrying a spear was down on the ground with an arrow's tip sticking out the back of his head.

"!!?"

The warriors were shock to see the result of the attack. No attack was this powerful from an enemy they've fought for days now. For once they felt immense fear from someone.

"Ch-Charge him!" said one of the warriors carrying a Spear.

A Shielder steps up with a Spear user at his side.

I pulled out another arrow, their shocked faces gave me time to charge up my attack. Noticing the shielder and spear user closing up to me at a running pace, at a point blank range I released the arrow and about a meter from them, I could see the fear in their eyes as they realized the mistake they made.

~Swoosh!~

"!!"

*Baam!*

"Bff!!" Blood drips from the Spear mans mouth as he saw how big the casualty of my attack was.

A hole burst through the man's body as the arrow went straight into smashing the Shield user. The Force of the arrow coated in mana wasn't enough to be stopped just by the body of a normal man but instead went clashing in with the shield. The result was obvious.

As the arrow and Shield collided with one another, the expression the man made as he held on to his shield was fear. A Simple Grieving fear.

Not before long.

*Boom*

The shield user was pushed backwards. The shield broke along with the Users arm.

"Ahhh!!" Shouted the man whose arm was now looking like a bent up pipe.

This was the result of a Mana coated arrow. It simply showed the difference between a normal person and a person with mana.

In Just a minute I already took down 5 men. Three sword users, one spear man and one shielder. And I only used about 15 percent of my mana.

"Whats wrong? Come at me!" I shouted as I saw the faces of the People. I've fought them for days now and this was the first time they were all collectively scared of me.

Running straight at them, I started pulling arrows of my quiver again. It took out four and started shooting the sword users first since they were easily handled at a distance.

~Swoosh!~

~Swoosh!~

~Swoosh!~

~Swoosh!~

Not a single one missed. Each arrow was as deadly as a bullet was against a medieval knights armor. Pointless and weak.

As the warriors fell one by one, a Certain person who held a sword on hand and wearing a red cape, watched as the bodies of the men died by a single boy who was no younger than 17. He knew why that boy was here.

To become a Ruler.

Rulers who were celebrated as Gods in his Country. There were 4 Rulers who ruled over his Homeland, all handling different forms of weapons. One was a man who could split seas with a single swing of his sword, another was a man who could pierce through any obstacle with a single thrust of his spear, and a man who could Protect its land by any attacks with a Shield heavier than the country itself. Lastly was the Blind Ruler, a Queen respected by all citizens and was wielding a Bow made of marble and Gold. Her Aim would never miss and her Shots would fall like rain as she made a single move. These Inhumane Rulers were worshiped like Gods.

Out of all the Rulers he served, The Blind Ruler was the One he favored the most. Out of all the Rulers, she was the one that acted based on justice and equity.

The Swordsman remembered his first time being ordered by the Blind Ruler. The Beautiful Ruler who dazed at the 20 men and smiled as she gave her final order to them.

"Rise and Never fall my men. Be their walls towards success and show them that being a King means Death by a thousand Jabs."

As that order was first set, The 20 warriors were then given the Role to be a Challenge and was given Immortality. As any challengers that would face for the throne of a King, would have to go through the 20 warriors set and picked by the Blind ruler herself.

It was the same plot of land, the same sky, the same gust of wind and it was always the same situation.

A challenge to become a Ruler. To be acknowledge by the Rulers.

Him and the other soldiers acted as the test for the tested person to become a warrior acknowledge by those Rulers.

It didn't mean that the 20 warriors themselves were strong but this test itself had a different meaning. It served to test the Tenacity and desire for a challenger to actually face death itself.

As they killed the Challengers one by one, along with his comrades dying and being reborn again. Their ever lasting loyalty towards the Rulers would never weaken.

A lot of people have Challenge these Rulers and a lot has failed. Some died once and immediately they fled while others died over 20 times and and beg for it to stop and gave up. Others lasted longer and others didn't.

The swordsman stares into those fools who gave up and a look of pity would always form on his face.

That challenge was a 1000 years ago. A Challenge from the past so to speak.

And a 1000 years later, he thought to himself that their would never be another challenger again for their kingdom has fallen from the wrath of the other Gods and their land was buried by the ashes of a million lives.

And yet he found himself again in the same plot of land, the same gust of wind and the same blue sky. And it was the same situation. To challenge the 20 warriors and win to be acknowledge by the Rulers.

He never questioned why it happened, when he clearly remembered his country falling to the ground and his Kings Dying as they fought the Gods above.

Now the same swordsman was looking at his Comrades as they fell one by one. Never has he seen such destructive power. An arrow capable of piercing through an inch thick shield was unheard of. A simple bow was never capable of such a thing.

He remembered that all those past challengers never acquired such strength and this was a first. He didn't know the concept of mana back then as to it was not made until 500 years later.

But other than all of that, he has never met a person so weak at the beginning and a month passes and he becomes an unstoppable force. But aside from of all of his efforts, what the Swordsman really respected was the fact that that Person has already died over a hundred times and not once has he given up. Not once has his eyes tell of weakness but instead His eyes would tell of his reason for coming here was entirely different, as if his reason wasn't to become a ruler but to become a savior instead. Unlike the Past challengers who were overwhelmed by greed and Power that they lost themselves in, this boy standing before him was always staring death in the eye like a simple passing of a day to day event. He never felt death cause He understood that death would never reach him.

For once, what the Swordsman saw wasn't a fool but instead a man worthy of becoming a Ruler.

Around 10 minutes has passed and I've already taken down around 12 men. Seven swordsmen, three spear-man and two shielders.

My breathing was becoming a bit ragged from all the running and the constant use of mana was a bit constraining. About a quarter of my mana was already drained out.

I did suffer some casualties like a cut to the sides but it wasn't enough to fully bring me down. I only needed to take down eight more people. three swordsman, two spear-man and three shielders.

After 10 minutes of running and killing, I realized that the warriors weren't coming after me no more but instead they formed themselves into 3 groups. Two groups containing one swordsman, one spear-man and one shielder. And one swordsman and shielder group.

"Formation!"shouted one of the Swordsman.

In three directions, they've surrounded me like a trapped animal.

"Charge!"

All together, they tried to ram me in all three directions with the Spears in front.

"!!" Immediately, I focused my mana on my legs and jumped straight into the air.

Using about 20 percent of my mana to jump high in the air, I felt a bit queasy from using that much while in midair.

I was about 20 feet in the air as I saw the warriors with their mouths gaping, surprised to see that such a person was capable of jumping like a frog.

"Hnn!" Immediately, I pulled out two arrows and used 10 percent of mana to coat them.

"Take this you mongrels!" Immediately, I fired two coated mana arrows to the Ground.

~Swoosh!~

~Swoosh!~

"!!" The Three shielders immediately reacted and pushed up their shields. Hoping to protect themselves. But seeing the result of my previous attacks, they were already certain that the damage would be devastating.

*Baam!*

*Boom!*

The impact created a dusty explosion, covering the field below me with Dust and small debris.

Falling to the ground, I immediately rolled to reduce the fall damage.

"Haaa….haaaa"

Exhausted from using my mana. I looked to the warriors and waited as the dust settled down to the ground. Being cautious, I readied a single mana coated arrow and aimed at the warrior's direction.

"Haaaaa!!!!" A warrior screamed as they immediately ran pass the dust cover and came charging at me. It was a Shielder.

"Curse you!" Shouted him, but I didn't mind his scream and immediately fired as I did so.

~Swoosh!~

*Baam!*

As the arrow shot the shielder, he was immediately pushed back into midair. The damage was clear.

As I looked at the man being pushed back in midair, for some reason a dangerous feeling was swelling in my mind, telling me to start moving or else my head would have been chopped off.

Under the feet of the shielder, was a swordsman who wore a red cape. on his left hand was a spear and on the other was a sword. He came charging like a mad man as soon as the shielder failed to confront me. It was like a surprise attack.

He thrusted the spear with all his might as the veins started popping out his muscles.

"Haa!"

~Woosh~

I bend my head to the left as fast as I could, barely dodging the point. As I started dodging, I immediately brought out an arrow and placed it to the bow, but as soon as I tried to pull it, he came charging again but this time it was a sword. He abandoned the spear since he wasn't accustomed to it and instead swung his sword.

He made a wide swing as he aimed for my stomach, In an instant I poured mana into my feet again but it was only about 3 percent. It was enough to push me back but I didn't have control. So as I dodged the swing by jumping back, unintentionally, the force of my jump wasn't properly controlled, and it made me do backflip, resulting in me kicking him in the face.

*Thud*

Rolling back from my careless dodge, I could see the Warrior baffled by my counter but…that wasn't intentional.

I soon pulled out another arrow and aimed and fired at the swordsman.

~Swoosh~

~Bam~

The shot immediately landed and he was hit on the left shoulder, near his heart. The impact was strong enough to push him back a few feet.

I readied another arrow and pointed at the warrior.

".…" I stared into his direction and waited for his attack.

"...Haaa *Cough* *Cough*.." the warrior stood in place as he started coughing up blood. He didn't move and just looked to my direction.

"You…can you tell me your name."

".…Hamil."

"Sir Hamil…You have passed the test. *Cough* *Cough*…Congratulations."

He fell on his ass and then layed on the ground.

"...Finish me."

".…"

I slowly pulled the arrow and fired.

*Thud*

".…" I stared into the lifeless corpse and reminisced on the fact that I killed a man. It was different for some reason and I didn't know why but it was probably because he asked for my name, or the the fact that he conversed with me and congratulated me. It was a weird feeling."

[The Challenge of the Rulers: Become worthy to be another Ruler (1/4)]

[Blind Ruler's Challenge - Acknowledge]

[Time Limit: 00000]

[Time Spent: 29:15:06:15]

Aside from my mana being low, Iwas surprised to see my stats permanently grow along with my intelligence and my Luck, by which I have no idea how that works. How do you improve one's luck?

Will, aside from that, I was the System also noted my accomplishments. The Blind Ruler's Challenge. From how it was worded out, it didn't meant that I was finished with just one ruler.

"So I have to complete their challenges as well?"

As I asked that question to myself, the field I stood on and the Bodies that laid in the field began to change. The Bodies Crumbled like dust and the Field started to change its color of a lusty Green. It was turning back to how it originally was.

As I look to the changes, I noticed a form of someone standing by the tree…She stood by the side of the tree where I would practice my aim.

It was the Blind ruler.

"Ok, I guess she's here to pick me up I guess…"

So I ran up to her. As I made my way to her, the winds started to blow more drastically and the sky started forming a dark atmosphere. It was like it was about to rain, but it didn't.

As I got closer and closer to her, I noticed she was touching that marks I made for the arrows I shot there. It was like she was admiring it.

".…?" as she caressed the markings, she eventually noticed my presence and turned to my direction.

".…You have won my challenge, I acknowledge you to be worthy of the font of a Ruler."

".…"

"Now, you must face their Challenge." she pointed to my left side and created a swirling golden gate.

I nodded my head and made my way into the Gate. As I took my step, I look back at her and was surprised to see her looking at me. Her expression was different and The atmosphere around also change. For the first time, I saw her smiling at me. A soft kind smile you would see a mother make to her growing child.

".…" I made my final nod and left the Blind ruler all to herself.

She stood at the spot the boy left and was feeling a bit lonesome. But she shook her head and made her way to the edge of the cliff, there she foresaw the ongoing war of two sides.

She raised her arm and at a snap of her finger. It rained with Golden light and the war ended.
