7 The Motive

After the discussion on the rewards of the bounty, he clears the table with a swipe of his arm, sending whiskey bottles and plates alike crashing to the ground. After the overly dramatic display, he opens a drawer in a nearby desk and pulls out a large rolled up piece of parchment.

Laying the parchment out, he points at a spot on the map. "We are right here currently, Right near the middle of the continent near the east border of the Kingdom Anya in the town of Lute. just around three miles northwest of here, is Trentson city. That's where the Baron lives. It's pretty lightly defended the barons mansion as an exception. Sneaking into the town shouldn't be much of a problem."

I smile at this, "This is good news indeed." Inwardly, I am whole hardheartedly looking forward to killing the count for more than just the gold. He is also one of my mothers supports I had previously met in person. He was even present the day of my test as well. He is a greedy piece of horse dung who only sucked up to my mother in a attempt to raise his rank.

"I don't know about this." Miss Thief says. "I think that murdering someone as powerful as a baron wouldn't be good. We would make many powerful enemies." Her nervousness was obvious.

I look at her with a stone cold expression. "If you don't want to do it, then leave. I will not burden myself by working with a useless thief." This was specifically meant to piss her off enough to leave. Now that I had met the man who was giving out the jobs she had formerly spoken of, there is no longer a point in me working with her. I am fairly confident in my ability to kill the baron, so splitting the reward with her would be more detrimental than if she just left. Unfortunately, I can't just dismiss her after we already made a deal, it would look bad if I broke a deal in front of the Bounty Master, but if I could manipulate her into breaking it on her own, then it would be perfect.

Her face turns bright red from anger, but she manges to calmly state, "I will work with you, we made a deal after all, but I just think that we should take one of the other two bounties instead."

I shake my head making it clear I was taking this bounty, that was without question. This man is going to die for all the suffering that he has caused me just like the others. Then with a vengeful smile, "Mother, your time ends soon."
