Before the days of alarm clocks,
the knocker upper was around to give you a shock,
with a huge pole on your bedroom window he did tap,
to wake you from your comfortable nap.
Wearing a large mac, hobnaill boots, and a watch on a chain,
he caused cotton mill workers considerable pain,
creeping around the cobbled streets in the dead of night,
giving the slumbering masses a terrible fright.
Ralph watched as the buildings passed by quickly. He couldn't stop thinking about everything that was happening. Nor could he stop himself from burning inside.
