7"Humiliated

Chang Yang walked anxiously from one point to another as she waited in the hospital's waiting room. Her fists were clenched into a hard ball by her side. Her lower lip was secured in between her teeth. She was sure to draw blood out soon enough with the way she was biting hard.

Why? Why did this have to happen? She was so close to her goal, so so close. Everything had worked according to her plan. She had succeeded in taking Ah Cy out of the picture and gaining the support of Lu Shen's parents. Everything was perfect. It was just three days to her wedding and then, she would have been able to say her dreams had come true. Why? Why did this have to happen? Her wedding would not only be suspended, it might get cancelled. If Lu Shen were not to recover, she couldn't even think of it. What would become of her if she didn't get married to Lu Shen? She was getting older day by day. She had refused literally half of the men in their town because she wanted to be with Lu Shen. She had been arrogant to everyone that dared to woo her. She had been so confident that she would have Lu Shen to herself and now that she was so close to that goal, this happened. Who was going to look at her now? She would be termed only a mistress and that was going to damage not only her reputation but her father's. How was she going to return home to her father and tell him she failed the simple task she had been given to do. Get married to Lu Shen, that was all she had been told to do. The marriage was supposed to be beneficial to her father. They could merge businesses and her father would be as rich as he ever dreamed of. And now she was about to fail him, she was about to destroy his dream.

A lone tear escaped it's bag and fell off her eyes at the same time that the door which she was standing in front of opened and a man in a white coat stepped out. Her heart beat tripled as she realized that he was the doctor. She quickly went to him and stood in front of him. He was surprised for a moment at her actions but it quickly faded off.

 " Ma'am, how can I be of help to you?" He asked.

It was Chang Yang's turn to get surprised. What did he mean by that? Wasn't he Lu Shen's doctor?

 " What's that supposed to mean? How is he? Lu Shen, how is he?" Chang Yang said desperately.

 " Oh! Word must have spread so far already" The doctor mumbled. Chang Yang was taken aback and at the same time, angered. She had been desperately and anxiously waiting for him to come give her a report and he was playing games with her.

 " What the hell do you even mean by that? Where is Lu Shen and how is he? I need a damn answer"

 " Ma'am, I need you to please keep your voice down. We're sorry but we can't just give information about our patient to just anybody" The doctor explained.

Chang Yang opened her mouth to say something but the words got caught in her throat. Did he just call her 'anybody'?

 " What the…? I'm not anybody. I am Chang Yang" She said frustratedly.

 " I'm sorry ma'am but the name doesn't ring a bell" 

Again, Chang Yang was shocked out of her wits. Her rage was doubling over and her heart was, at the same time, hurting like crazy.

 " If you'd please excuse me, I…"

He couldn't finish his statement when Chang Yang angrily interrupted him.

 " I am his god damn fiancee, what do you mean by everything you just said? You know, I can get you arrested for this. You can't keep me hanging like this, I need to know how my fucking husband-to-be is doing"

The doctor was surprised by her outburst and his facial expression showed it. They had gotten attention from others in the room and another doctor was now standing beside the first one, a female this time.

 " I'm sorry ma'am but you can't be Mr Lu Shen's fiance. He has a wife that everybody knows. I'm sorry ma'am but I don't know what you're saying and I can't give you any information" The male doctor said. 

 " She must be the mistress" Chang Yang heard the female doctor whisper to the the man. Her already clenched fists tightened even more and her already doubled anger tripled. She didn't realize when she was yanking the female doctor's hair angrily.

 " How dare you?" She spat venomously. The poor woman tried to release her hair and failed as Chang Yang's grip was locked. 

 " Ma'am, please let her go or I'll be forced to call the security" The first doctor said.

 " How dare you? How dare you all? You're going to pay for this. I'll have you pay for this"

 "Ma'am, let her go" The doctor pleaded but Chang Yang didn't listen. He ran out and when he returned, he had two huge men behind him. They quickly tackled Chang Yang and in a fickle of an eye, she was being dragged out of the hospital. She didn't stop shouting though and cursing.

 " You'll pay for this. You'll pay for this. I'll have your license seized and you will rot in jail. You'll pay for this…"

The doctors and everyone in the room sighed in relief as she was dragged out of sight. Chang Yang was roughly pushed outside and the door was shut on her. She was in a daze for long. She would have made to go back in but she had to protect the last of her dignity. So with the little strength she could muster, she stood up and got into her car. It was an actual miracle that she made it home without getting into an accident. It would have been a fatal one cause her speed wasn't a joke.

Once in Lu Shen's mansion, Chang Yang stormed into the house and threw the first thing she saw. It was a glass vase which shattered loudly, echoing in the whole house. The maids all scurried to a corner to avoid her anger.

 " What the fuck are you looking at?" She shouted at all of them but at no one in particular. They all went back to their duties wondering what could have happened to her this time.

Another vase hit the ground and shattered, it's pieces scattering all over. Chang Yang let out an angry scream and stormed into her room. She slammed the door and fell on the floor, the tears she had tried to keep in suddenly letting loose. She was angry, broken, humiliated and at the verge of losing everything she had worked tooth and nail for. Why? Why was her luck so cursed?

If only she knew that what she was feeling at that moment wasn't up to half of what she had made Ah Cy go through.
