13"Wake Up!!

The car pulled up in front of the hospital and the driver stepped out, opening the passenger's door and holding it. Chang Yang stepped out of the car and without sparing the driver a look, she walked past him and into the hospital. He sighed loudly as he watched her go. He hated his job!

Chang Yang was received as soon as she stepped into the hospital by the two doctors that had humiliated her on the day of Lu Shen's accident. 

 " Ma'am, we are extremely sorry for what happened last time. I swear it was a misunderstanding, we didn't know. We are really sorry ma'am" The male doctor said. Chang Yang ignored him and kept her stare on the woman who had called her a mistress. She noticed that she wasn't saying anything and her face had no hint of remorse.

 " Ma'am, we are sorry" The male doctor repeated.

 " Why don't you speak for yourself?" Chang Yang said.

 " What?"

 " You heard me. I want an apology from her" She said, pointing slightly at the woman who was glaring at her.

 " Of course" The doctor said and then he nudged the woman by his side and muttered, " Apologize"

The woman kept her glare intact and said,

 " I am sorry " in what was barely above a whisper.

 " I can't hear you " Chang Yang said. She crossed her arms and added,

 " And keep your eyes down"

With the expression on her face, anyone could tell that she wasn't willing to comply to Chang Yang's order but she barely had any chance to refuse when the doctor nudged her again, this time harder than the first. She bit her lips and slowly, lowered her gaze.

 " I am sorry " She said, louder this time so she wouldn't have to say the words again. Clearly, she didn't mean them.

Chang Yang knew the apology wasn't real and she also knew she could get a real one out of this adamant woman if she wanted but she wasn't in the mood for that. She was here to see her Lu Shen and she wasn't going to get distracted by some unnecessarily egotistic doctor.

 " Next time, I won't go so easy on you" Chang Yang said, her eyes darting from the male doctor to the female.

 " There won't be a next time ma'am" The male said, his head facing downwards and his voice made meek in respect to Chang Yang. Obviously he loved his job. And his life!

 " There better not be" Chang Yang said and walked past them, intentionally brushing her shoulder with the female doctor who stumbled backward slightly because of the force. The man hurriedly followed Chang Yang while the woman stared behind and gritted her teeth in anger.

 " Bitch!" She mumbled to herself and walked away.

Chang Yang was shown Lu Shen's room and as she saw him lying unconsciously with the oxygen tube over his mouth, it angered her.

 " You can leave" She said to the doctor who hurriedly left the room and shut the door.

Chang Yang bit her lips tightly as she stood beside Lu Shen's bed. Her heart wasn't breaking. It didn't hurt her to see him in this condition but it did make her angry. She was so angry and she didn't even know at who. It wasn't his fault that he had an accident, or was it? It was totally his fault. If he had listened to her and stayed at home then this wouldn't have happened. But he never listened to her, did he? He never listened to anyone. He was Lu Shen after all, THE Lu Shen! Well now here he was, lying on a hospital bed half dead.

Chang Yang tasted her blood on her tongue and she stopped and released her lip. She traced her hand on Lu Shen's arm and then she held onto it. She held unto it way more tighter than she should have, like she was exerting all her anger on him but he couldn't feel it so she clenched her fist even tighter on Lu Shen's arm. She had never got the chance to do this even if she wanted to many times. If only he could feel it.

 " Lu Shen, I don't care if you can hear me or not but you had better do as I say. You're going to wake up. You can't die on me, you can't. You'll wake up and we'll get married and all my dreams would come true, do you understand that?" 

She gripped his arm tighter when she waited and didn't hear a response. Why was she thinking that he would miraculously wake up? That was when the tears fell. She lowered her head and cried silently.

 " Wake up, Lu Shen. Wake up!" She sobbed quietly.

It didn't last up to a minute, her display of emotion. She released his hand and cleaned off the tears like she hadn't been crying at all. She swallowed and took a deep breath. Staring one last time at Lu Shen, she sighed and then walked out of the room.

The doctor was waiting outside for her when she came out.

 " We need to talk" Chang Yang said.

 " Yes…yes ma'am" the doctor said and started walking to his office. Chang Yang followed him and they got to a small office. The doctor took a seat out for her and didn't sit until she was seated.

 " It's been a week, why isn't he awake?" She asked. Her tone was curt and rude but at that moment, she didn't care.

 " Ma'am, this is not in our hands. We are trying our best…"

 " Obviously, your best is not enough" Chang Yang interrupted.

 " You have to do something, anything. Just make him wake up" she added.

 "Ma'am, I am really sorry but we've tried. We've tried everything. All we can do now is leave it to time. He will wake up…but I don't know when"

Chang Yang gritted her teeth in anger.

 " How long do you think he'll stay like this?" She asked, her voice restrained.

 " Ranging from 2 weeks to 2 months or 2 years. We are not certain about it, ma'am"

 " And the brain damage?" 

The doctor sighed. Somehow, his earlier fear of the woman was gone but he still had to be polite. He didn't want to lose his job.

 " We are not certain about that too ma'am. What we can say is that he might lose some part of his memory, we don't know how far it goes or for how long"

There was silence for a while and then she said,

 " Is there any chance that he won't survive it?" 

The doctor didn't expect her question. Was she expecting him to die?

 " I don't want to make any assumptions but I don't think there's a chance of him dieing"

 " Better! Cause if anything happens to my Lu Shen, I'll have this hospital closed down and all of you will rot in jail for the rest of your useless lives" Chang Yang said angrily and then she stood up and stormed out of the hospital leaving the doctor stunned.

Chang Yang made her way out of the hospital and got into the car slamming the door angrily. The driver sighed again and got into the car.

 " Where to, ma'am?" He asked dreading the next response.

 " Get me out of here" she said curtly.

 " Yes ma'am" the driver said and started the car. Again, he hated his job!
