Ugly Scene.

Luna's POV

The next morning when I came down for breakfast, I didn't see Dominick, but instead, Alen and Nina were there, bickering back and forth as usual, like an old married couple.

"Good morning, Mrs. Phoenix. I trust you're feeling better this morning?" Maria smiled, placing a hot plate of mac and cheese on my table.

"I'm doing well, thank you, Maria."

"I can see that," she looked at me in a way that made heat creep into my cheeks.

Why is she acting this way? Does she think something happened between me and Dominick last night?

Taking a bite from my plate, I looked at Nina, totally ignoring Alen. "Have you seen Dominick?"

"Oh, you can't wait to see him right now," she squealed, making me wish the ground would open up and swallow me. What the hell is wrong with them all?

"Just answer the question, Nina. You're making her uncomfortable," Alen scoffed at her, but I noticed he was also avoiding my gaze.

"He's busy right now inside his study. Do you want to go there?" she asked me smugly.

"No, no, I just wanted to know why he didn't come down for breakfast."

After breakfast, I decided to at least check up on Dominick, and that was when I saw Selene striding inside the mansion.

"Why is she here now?" Nina muttered, glaring at Selene. "Just look at the way she's dressed, for heaven's sake."

My eyes instinctively took in Selene's appearance. She was wearing a black mini gown that was just too tight, revealing defined curves, while a supposed push-up bra brought out almost all her breasts for the world to see! Don't get me started on her face; it was caked with so much makeup that she almost resembled a clown. Phew!

"Why the fuck are you glaring at me?" She stood in front of me, a wry smile on her lips. "Don't tell me you're still jealous of me."

"Jealous of you? Oh, sis, I think it's the other way around," Nina retorted, drawing a scowl from Selene.

"You had better shut that fucking trash you call a mouth, or I'll end you," she threatened Nina, invading her space.

"Leave her alone," I told her, raising my voice to my surprise. "Just go."

She chuckled, before clicking her tongue. Next, she leaned into my ear and whispered, "Remember what you said last time? You didn't care if I fucked Dom, so quit acting hurt."

She straightened her back, flipped her hair, and said, "See you later. I can't keep the boss waiting," before licking her lips seductively and walking away.

"That bitch!" Nina began, but I cut her off.

"It's alright. I'll be in the garden," I said before hurrying out of the mansion.

I Wandered around the garden for a few minutes, taking in the fresh air and sweet scents before Alen approached.

What the hell does he want now?

Turning my back on him, I strode to the bench and sat down, hoping he would take the hint and leave me alone. To my annoyance, he followed and sat beside me.

"Are you alright?" His voice was calm, but I could sense the tension beneath it.

"I'm fine," I replied curtly, not bothering to look at him.

He studied me for a moment before speaking again. "I know you're mad at me, and rightfully so. I acted like a joke after that kiss. That wasn't my intention. I was only thinking about Dom's reaction and not your feelings."

I nodded awkwardly, unsure of how to respond to his apology.

"So, do you forgive me?" He smiled at me, his eyes earnest.

"I guess," I replied, returning his smile. Despite my frustration, I couldn't stay mad at him for long. This was the Alen I knew, gentle, kind, and thoughtful, unlike Dominick.

"It seems like you enjoy the garden a lot?"

I looked at him, and our eyes momentarily locked before I looked away awkwardly. "Yes, a lot. It's so soothing and beautiful."

"I understand. It's also my favorite place in the mansion."

I felt his gaze lingering on me before he looked away. I let out a relieved breath because it felt kind of awkward.

Alen sighed, relaxing against the bench. "Dominick has been trying to get a hold of Sol since last night..."

"What happened last night?" I interrupted, my curiosity piqued.

"He didn't tell you? Sol called last night."

"What?" I jumped up from the bench, shocked. "Why didn't he tell me? Is she alright?"

"Calm down, take it easy," Alen stood up, placing a hand on my shoulder to calm me down. "She called to tell him she needed help and was in trouble, but the line got disconnected."

"So, she's actually in trouble?" I asked, my hands shaking nervously. "Are you sure she's going to be alright?"

"Yes, Dom is doing everything in his power to trace the number she used in calling him."

"I better call my parents and tell them."

"No, I don't think Dom will appreciate it at the moment. Just wait for his instructions, okay?"

"Fine," I answered begrudgingly. "But I have to see him now."

I began walking off, but Alen held me back. "Selene is in there."

I yanked my arm away. "I don't care. I need to find out more about my sister."

I went back inside the mansion and strode towards Dominick's study, stopping in front of the door. I raised my hand to knock but stopped in my tracks—the door was ajar. Pushing it gently, I peered inside, shocked at the sight that greeted me.

My heart plummeted as I saw Selene bent over the table, moaning, while Dominick pounded hard into her, pulling her hair roughly. Shock and disbelief washed over me as I stood there, rooted to the spot.

Dominick's head suddenly lifted, and our eyes locked. I shook my head, trying to comprehend what I was seeing, before turning and dashing out of the study, the image burning into my mind.
