Chapter One hundred and Fourty

Two days later after their discussions, Jay's secretary had come inside the office with a proposal from Charlie. According to him, he had wanted to partner with Jay for his restaurant as he needed extra funding. He had this aim he intended to achieve and he really wanted to get that achievement with Jay's assistance of course. Jay had to pretend not to be aware of it of course and asked that a meeting be called up as soon as possible. This was going to be their chance at expanding their venture and making more clean name for themselves. He actually pretended really good. And soon enough, he was seated in the room with others where they had their meetings. He wanted to know what everyone thought about the proposal as he was thinking that it should set them up for a while. Everyone was present that worked in that office including Alfredo. Few days ago, he had been worried about Jay playing a fast one on them and had whistleblown about it to Diego. He must have been wrong really and remembered how Diego had decided to turn on his watchful eyes on Jay. He only sought to protect Diego from Jay and probably had made a mess in his haste. He knew Diego and how he gets whenever he was angry. He would probably track down the old driver and torture out answers from him. He had made a mistake which he must correct. He however gave his support to the development and by the end of the meeting, they had all agreed unanimously to join hands with Charlie. Jay decided that first of all, he needed to go explore this restaurant for himself as he was not ready to make losses. Alfredo chuckled and reminded Jay that he was not one to make losses in the past. 

Diego had taken the warning of his lover to heart and had decided to watch the old man carefully. He had located him finally and had his men keep an eye on him. It was bad enough that they had lost track of Bella and were only waiting for a miracle to happen and then find her again. Now it seemed like  this man was going to cause them extra problems. He had seen Jay the last time, he could swear that the guy had not received one bit of his memories. Thus, very well, he had to be sure to keep that old man away. Now, what he could not understand was why would Jay pay in such a huge amount of money into the account of the driver, he needed to find that out obviously. But he also needed to be careful about it and the choices he was going to be making henceforth. 

He had kept in touch also with Anthony and his son, Mikey. Hopefully that one day, Bella would seek out her step family. He was still thinking rationally when he heard his phone ringing. He set down the glass of brandy in his hands and picked up his phone. It was Alfredo calling. 

He had not expected that he made a call soon enough. The guy had called to plead with him not to harm the old man as it was quite possible that he must have told Jay about the other stuff members that had been sacked. He did not want any innocent blood in their hands anymore. Sincerely speaking, Diego was displeased at his lover, whatever happened to that killer instinct filled Alfredo he had fallen in love with. Who was this softie worrying over a common driver. He however did not want to offend him or cause any stretch or strain in their relationship, so he reassured him that the old man would remain untouched. Although, he still was going to keep an eye on him until he could convince him beyond every reasonable doubt that he was clean.
