The Mad Heiress' Revengeful Ghost

Brianna Cordova was thrown in jail after poisoning her half younger brother. She was stripped of all her inheritance and rights in her family’s legacies, even though she was the legitimate heiress. Instead of bathing in dollars and gold bars, she bathed in the shower area of an Isolation Cell in the country’s most infamous penitentiary. There comes Bianca Acosta – a lowlife of all lowlifes. She was serving a lifetime sentence for multiple crimes; torture, illegal drug trade, severe fraud and financial crimes, aggravated property damage, arson, burglary, theft, robbery, and falsifying national documents. Bianca was betrayed by her gang members and sold off to the police, thus, she was serving her sentence and diligently visiting the prison chapel to pray for the death of all her former comrades. It happened one fateful day when it was raining hard. After finishing her cleaning duty, she went back without an umbrella, but was mesmerized at the rare phenomena unfolding before her eyes. A solar eclipse, despite the absurdity of the situation, but what Briana found the most unbelievable was how stupid she was, staring at the solar eclipse directly. As her eyes began to blur and tear up, a horrifying scream echoed through the entire penitentiary. Once the darkness brought by the eclipse disappeared, a body nailed at the altar of the prison chapel was found. Bianca Acosta died a gruesome death, expectedly. Brianna Cordova damaged her eyes, stupidly. One lost her life, the other lost her vision. However, unbeknownst to Brianna, she received the eyes of the dead Bianca, and since then, the ghost of Bianca kept pestering her to take revenge for her death. They say to let a ghost rest in peace, one must fulfill its dying wish. But how will Brianna, a pea-brained timid, and cowardly woman exact revenge against an infamous syndicate that killed Bianca?

Reporting job [3]

A gasp escaped Brianna's mouth after hearing Bianca.

The latter spun her head toward the door. Bianca suspiciously eyed the gap in the door. She was about to check it when she suddenly heard a rustling sound, then a stray car walked in the slightly opened door and scratched its head.

Bianca stared at the cat, before going back to her praying posture.

On the other hand, Brianna huffed after running away quickly. She rested her hands on her knees and bent her body as she caught her breath.

Peeking at that woman was nerve-wracking! How is she going to continue doing so in the following days?! Bianca seemed like she had eyes at the back of her head, so following her all the time would surely put her into suspicion.

After she left the isolation cell, Bianca didn't do anything grave to Brianna again. She would just casually order her to do simple things and then be on her way. Alice and Melissa weren't getting in her way lately as well.

She was finally having a peaceful life inside prison. But to keep it easy, she needs money. So, she must persevere and mustn't get caught!

The visiting day arrived. As the strange guy promised, Brianna was called into the visiting room. It was a peculiar feeling being visited by a stranger rather than her family, either way, she felt needed.

She sat behind the visiting booth armed with a correctional officer by the entrance. The thick, transparent window that separates the prisoners from the visitors has small holes in the face level.

Behind it, the guy waved at Brianna and smiled friendly. She nodded back, keeping her hands on her lap.

The guy began, "So, what did you find out about my Bianca?"

Brianna was nervous. It was the first day of her reporting job, and she was anxious that the guard on the door would tattle her to Bianca. The guy noticed her hesitation, so he knocked on the transparent wall.

Brianna looked up and the guy sighed, "Look, it's fine. You can tell me. I already sent money to your account. And you don't have to worry about anyone knowing. What's wrong if I ask around about my beloved's situation inside? It's not like I'm committing a crime, right?"

The guy leaned back on his seat and pocketed his hands. He waited for Brianna to answer, masking his impatience with his fallacious acting.

Brianna sighed and kicked away her worry. She already accepted the money, so what was she hesitating for?

She began reporting everything she noticed from Bianca to the guy. It was easier when the guy began to ask questions as well. Brianna answered truthfully.

"She's been going to the chapel?"

"Yes."

"Do you know what she's doing there?"

Brianna paused, "…praying."

The guy noticed Brianna's reluctance to tell more. But he probed inconsiderately again, "Of course, she was praying. It was a chapel, but…aside from praying, is there anything else? Like…is she meeting someone inside? A man, for example."

Brianna's face crumpled. "There are only women here…"

"I know!" The guy replied defensively. "But there are male officers here, so who knows…if she's already seeing someone, then might as well stop this stubbornness of taking hours to drive here just to hear about her."

The guy's shoulders slumped and he looked crestfallen. Brianna bit her lower lip, contemplating whether to tell him or not. In the end, she shared what she saw with the guy, "She was…just praying devotedly."

"Did you hear what she's praying for?"

Brianna, "Just…asking the lord to help her get revenge. That's all."

"Woah, that woman's really crazy," the guy whispered.

Brianna frowned, "What did you say?"

"Oh, nothing," the guy flashed a forced smile. After a few more questions, the visiting time was consumed and the microphone in the booth was asking Brianna to go back now.

The guard at the entrance gestured for her, so Brianna stood and nodded at the man before turning back.

The guy waved, but once Brianna was walking away, his face hardened. He stood and quickly left the place.

Before Brianna went back to her cell, she checked her account and was overjoyed by the amount. The female guard who always obeyed Melissa to buy food and also take cash from her money bumped into her.

Unconsciously, Brianna glared at the woman. The female guard flinched and looked away. She hurriedly walked away from Brianna's path.

This action truly left her wondering, 'Why does even the guard seem afraid of me?'

She just shrugged her shoulders and continued. With nothing to do, since she was scheduled for leisure time before dinner, Brianna just borrowed some books from the small library the prison had and immersed herself into reading.

Meanwhile, inside the control room of the prison, two male guards were chatting while checking the monitors. A small television was mounted on the corner of the room a foot below the ceiling, and a news was flashing in.

The younger male guard rocked his chair as his feet rested above the desk. He watched the news and remarked, "A solar eclipse?"

The older male guard looked up at the television and listened to the news as well. "It's next month. Solar eclipses are rare and only happen in centuries, right? Have you seen one, officer?"

The younger male guard shook his head as he gave the older one a funny look, "Nope. I'm only in my twenties, sir. What happens during the eclipse?"

"Well, the earth will get dark they say. I don't know either. Haven't seen one myself," the older officer chuckled.

He turned to the monitor again and shook his head after seeing an inmate getting beaten in the library.

"Haa…these women love trouble, don't they?" he mumbled as he pressed a button on his radio. "A fight broke out in the library. I repeat. A fight broke out in the library."

The younger guard lurched forward and watched the same monitor, "Who is it this time, officer?"

"Who? The famous newbie, I guess," the officer answered, watching the brawl with dismay.
