The Machine of Death and Life

One upon a time, there was a machine in a world engulfed in war. That world ended, but the machine did not. Instead, this machine was given new purpose: save the next world. the machine did not realize, however, that the world it would be saving had magic, nor did it realize that he would be acquiring two children. nevertheless, it did not waver, but pressed onward.

The Tradgedy of the Universe

"Once, there was a world"

"but this one didn't just have machines"

"oh no, this world had everything"

"from magic to science to entire planets, this world was essentially a play-place for creation"

"but the humans who lived there, well, they got greedy"

"they had it all, but they wanted more"

"they went higher and higher, looking for the highest point"

"God"

"the one who reigned at the top"

"and eventually, they did"

"motivated by greed and hate and spite, they killed him"

"that was, in a manner of speaking, a dick move"

"however, the universe, which was held together by God, shattered like a cheap glass window"

"those pieces, in turn, became their own universes"

"each one expressing ideas and thoughts originating from that universe, but never it's whole"

"however, each of these universes would eventually fall into entropy and die if nothing was done."

"have you heard of a concept known as the conservation of matter?"

"I am familiar with such a concept" said the machine

"it applies to souls as well"

"in the original universe, souls could be created abundantly, and they were."

"but now, since God was killed, souls can no longer be created"

"the amount of souls in the universe --- or I guess it would be a kind of multiverse --- is a set value"

"so, my job is to keep it cycling onward through the creation and destruction of worlds"

"and my world was slated for destruction" the machine interrupted

"correct" Deus responded

"but something was off"

"your world, while reading that all of it's souls were purged, still had some movement to it"

"me" the machine inferred

"correct again"

"so, I went to investigate, and lo and behold, I found you asleep."

"I am guessing that since you brought me here, i cant go back to my world" the machine said

"correct again" Deus responded, "perhaps I should put you in a game show"

"very funny"

"anyways, come with me" Deus said

and so, the machine followed him though the white void
