The Lycan's War

This isn't your normal werewolf story. Yes it has love, war, packs, and wolves in it, but is very different. My name is Alexa Wood, I am an amory lycan. Legend says I and another amory lycan will stop the war and create peace with the humans, and this is my story.

Chapter 5: Taking A Stand

Cain's P.O.V.

I just moved into this new town called Canton, I wasn't very happy about moving again. I wasn't ready for another fight, the last one was longer than normal. I had to fight two at once. They would also give us a low dose of aconite, so we couldn't shift. I honestly can't remember the last time I did shift.

I was in my room getting ready for school when Mr. Reed knocked on my door. "Come in." He opened the door and watched me as I finished getting dressed. "Now Cain, don't forget what I have taught you, focus on the school first then make a pass around town. Then come straight home, and do not approach any if you find them."

I just nodded my head, I wasn't scared of him, I was scared of what he will do. The last time I disobeyed him he locked me in a room that had no windows and left me there for days with no food, water, or light.

After a couple days it can drive a person mad, but I knew I couldn't let that happen, because that was exactly what he wanted. He wanted me to fear him, and for some reason I just knew I had to stay strong. "Cain hurry up or you are going to be late." I got up and went down stairs, not really hungry, so I just walked to the door, grabbed my keys and left for school.

When I got to school I parked and walked to the office, got my locker number, class schedule. When I got to class the teacher was outside. "Good morning you must be Cain Reed." "Yes sir." The bell rang and the teacher walked in the room and I walked in behind him.

Then I smelt another lycan. The teacher started to introduce me. I was looking around the room when my gaze landed on this beautiful, elegant, intoxicating, powerful, black haired, ocean blue-eyed, lycan. She looked down and in that instant I wanted nothing more than for her to look back at me.

"Okay Cain you can go sit next to Alexa," and pointed at the girl. I walked over and sat next to her. She looked back up to the front of the room, then she turned and looked at me. She had more power radiating off of her than any other lycan I have ever met. "Hey I am Cain you must be Alexa." She looked shocked. "How do you know my name?"

She must have been too busy focusing on whoever she was texting, and didn't hear what the teacher was saying. "The teacher just pointed at you and said your name and said I could sit next to you." "Oh yeah must not have heard that part."

As class started I couldn't help, but to keep glancing over at her. I could tell she was trying to ignore me, but I just couldn't figure out why I felt like I was drawn to her. I didn't have my next class with her, but I really wanted and needed to talk with her in private.

On my way to lunch I saw her and called her name. I knew she heard me but she just kept walking. I picked up my pace, when I got to her I put my hand on her shoulder. She stopped dead in her tracks. I thought she might even growl at me by the way she looked at me.

"Did you not hear me call you?" She just shook her head. "No, sorry the halls are pretty loud." I brushed off her lie. "I need to talk to you Alexa." "About what?" I lightly shook my head. "Not here somewhere more private."

"Okay, but let me put my books away, then we can talk, just follow me." We walked to her locker. She pulled out her phone and it looked like she was texting someone again, but I didn't really care. We went outside to a table. I could sense another lycan, but I just assumed that was who she was texting earlier.

She relaxed a little then proceeded. "Okay Cain, what did you want to talk about?" I just sat there watching her really debating if I wanted to tell her, if I could really trust her even though my gut was saying I could tell her anything and everything would be fine. "Well as I am sure you know I am a lycan and Mr. Reed is a hunter." Her eyes widened a little. "Wait, you said Mr. Reed, I thought he was your dad."

"No, Mr. Reed is my adoptive dad so to say. Mr. Reed comes from a long line of scientists and hunters. He found my mom when she was pregnant with me. He took her and locked her in a cell by herself till she gave birth."

She spoke up. "Sorry to interpret but I thought they killed the lycans not kept them." I nodded my head. "Usually they do kill them unless it is a pregnant female. Then they keep her till she gives birth. They are not completely monsters, they don't kill children." I hated defending them, but not all of them were monsters, some were kind.

"Well after my mom gave birth to me they killed her and took me and raised me as their own. When I was five they started training me with a few other lycans close to my age. By the time I was ten I was fighting full-grown men. I was at the top of my group. Which wasn't a good thing. They always expected me to be better than the others. Even at one point they made me fight on the kids in my group. They were making me into a soldier that they could use." She reached out and put her hand on mine. I wanted to pull away but I didn't.

"That's awful Cain, no child should have to go through what you did." I could hear the pain in her voice, she really did feel bad for me. I don't know why though she didn't even know me. "Well ever since I was 16 Mr. Reed would move me from town to town to find lycans for him. He got a report that there was a pack here, so we came. I didn't want to. I am tired of what he is having me do. Once I find a lycan he doesn't kill them he makes me."

I saw a flash of hatred in her eyes, but it was quickly replaced with sadness. "How many?" I wish I didn't know but I have been counting since the first life I took. "60. He has made me kill 60 lycans, but not just kill them he would take me back to headquarters and make it into a show. He put us in a cage and fight to the death. It was either we both die or I survive."

I held back the tear that threatened to fall. "Alexa I need your help, I don't want to have to kill you." The other lycan stepped out making his presence known. "No one is touching my alpha." I looked at Alexa. "Alpha?" "Not yet. My father hasn't stepped down yet."

"I knew you had power, but I was not expecting alpha." I looked at her friend. "Then that must make you the beta." He didn't move or even try to answer so I just took it as a yes. Even with him being a beta Alexa still had way more power than him. I saw another lycan stand a few steps away on her phone.

Then after a few seconds a group of four more lycans came walking out of the school, over to us. I looked at everyone. "I have never seen so many lycans at once." Alexa chuckled. "Cain, this is just the seniors." I felt my jaw drop a little. "Wait so how many are there here?"

"About 100 throughout the town. This is the biggest pack." A brown haired girl leaned down to whisper in Alexa's ear. Her voice was so soft I couldn't quite hear what she said.

Alexa looked back at me. "Cain, I need you to go home and tell Mr. Reed, you think the reports were false and that you didn't find any signs of lycans." I was a little hesitant to reply, but I did. "Okay, but I don't know if he will believe me."

The bell rang saying lunch was over and we all left to go to class. I was in Alexa's classes the rest of the day. I felt different around her like I belonged. At the end of the day I drove around town for about two hours before heading home.

I walked inside and Mr. Reed was sitting on the couch waiting for me. "Well did you find any?" I stood at my full height, not wanting to seem suspicious. "No sir, I didn't find any evidence of any lycans. I checked all the parks for tracks and couldn't find anything."

He watched me to see if I was lying, but I made sure not to give anything away. I couldn't let him find out about Alexa or the pack. "I think the lycan that was reported was just one passing through town." He nodded his head. "Well I really like this town. I say we stay awhile till we get another report."

"Can I keep going to school? This is my senior year and it is almost over." He thought it over. "Sure why not then I don't have to worry about it anymore. Once you are out of school we can move around more and kill more of you monsters." I growled, not thinking. I always hated when he talked about lycans like that.

He got up, came over and punched me in the face. I didn't move a inch. He looked really mad. "I have raised you and keep you safe your whole life and you thank me by disobeying me and growling at me." I just stood there staring at the wall.

He grabbed me by the chin and pulled my face to look at him. "When I am talking to you boy I expect you to look at me. I may not be your biological father, but I have done my best to raise you as best as I could."

I looked him in his eyes. "Your best is not that good. You raised me to fight, you raised me to only listen to you, you raised me so I could kill for you, so your hands stayed clean. You made me kill my own friend when I was still a child just to prove a point." "Cain go to your room before you really make me mad."

I walked to my room and closed the door behind me, I heard him lock it. I went and got a shower then went to bed.
