chapter ten

The next morning, Laura woke up with a fever and could not get up. She was stressed from the incidence that happened the day before. She phoned her parents and informed them she wouldn't be home until evening.

Dorian was perplexed. The strong Laura of yesterday had become suddenly weak overnight, what was that? Was she not very agile yesterday, Banting and arguing with darren ?

However, she was happy laura would not attend class; it would save her from more troubles anyways because the look on darren's face yesterday said there was more that had to be discussed.

Quickly, dorian had her bath and slid into her faded pink hoodie and black shorts. She prepared Laura some breakfast and got her medications after which she left the house in hurry.

As she walked along the already busy streets, her mind drifted to the incident that happened yesterday. She couldn't believe Darren could do such a thing just to get information from Laura.

He had really gone extra miles to get both of them to his place, because Laura knew about his dad. What baffled her most was how Laura got to know about darren's dad and his frivolous activities as well, because she'd never told her about it.

Why was Laura hiding it from her?

Laura had never hidden anything from her, not even when it's in the most unsuitable and nervous situation. She was a tight lipped person and Laura knew it so it was easy for her to trust her and tell her anything going on in her life.

But this... Dorian wondered, putting her hair back in order as the wind had ruffled it earlier on.

Laura was fearless of darren, she knew that and like that fact but never had she thought there was a reason behind this fearlessness. Naturally, her friend was the incorrigible type but not to the level of brawling out to darren with a free mind unless she has a strong backing.

Again, Dorian wondered where Laura got the piece and bits of information from and why Darren seemed so worried about it.

It was his dad's business, not his, so why was he concerned? Why was his mother truly unwilling to leave his father even after all the brutal maltreatment he gave her? was be scared his dad might get arrested and he would not be able to enjoy the wealth and fame he had?

Dorian thought harder, outwardly speaking to herself like she was a crazy woman, but could not find any answers to the numerous growing questions in her head. She'd ask Laura about it when she arrived from school, she concluded and sighed heavily.

Few minutes later, she arrived at school and quickly ran into the classroom, not wanting to be noticed or cause any form of attraction that would give her trouble. Luckily, she was able to abscond into the room successfully as everyone were minding their business as they would when the boys weren't bullying her. Dorian was quite glad about her little escape and decided to read a little before the class started _geography.

Half an hour later, the class began to fill up as students were already arriving to have their class, each of them sunk in their thoughts and personal problems, mindless of the school nerd.

She had a free mind throughout the class. No one tried to hurt her or play dirty tricks on her. Tanner, Darren and Louise were nowhere to be found either.

After her first class, Dorian packed her books and headed for her next class; further maths, the subject she hated the most. she'd give up anything just to understand the basics but her brain just couldn't comprehend.

Adding further maths to the problems she had already was like adding fuel to fire. She sighed and went for her class.

Two hours later, the class ended and everyone dispersed into the cafeteria for lunch. Dorian wasn't the type that ate at school but today, she had no choice than to because she didn't pack her lunch out of hurry. Since Laura wasn't around either, she decides to have lunch in the cafe.

As she walked into the cafeteria, she sighted tanner's new girlfriend _tricia who was having lunch with her friends_eve and catty. She narrowed her eyes and settled in a seat Faraway from them, not wanting to attract her attention.

Tricia was no difference to the bully, she was a jerk, too. She wore outrageous clothes, showing off her cleavages to attract boys. She was the school cheerleader and most students feared her because her parents were wealthy and influencial, and to crown it all, was the girlfriend of the school hottest and brilliant billionaire. She indeed had everything within her reach and did as she liked. She was a female simp. Dorian thought inwardly as she placed her food order at the counter.
