Chapter Three

Dawn came quicker than Kathena would have liked; the sun barley providing warmth as she followed the guard to the shore. She stood in awe, taking in the beauty of the ship that would take her on this journey; the sails a light blue color, the base of the ship dark blue with gold trim, a flag with the kingdom symbol ( a moon) blowing in the wind.

"Wow..." Kathena whispered to herself, still amazed by its beauty.

"Wait here." the guard said, walking over to talk to the captain. She watched as they kept glancing over, making her think of what her mom said. Kathena shook off the feeling of dread as she was finally led on to the ship.

"Welcome Kathena the Knight! we are truly honored to be leading you on your very important quest." The Captain said reaching for her hand, giving it a quick kiss. She nodded gratefully,

" Thank you for accompanying me."

" The pleasure is ours. If you follow Mika, he will lead you to your chambers. The king and queen sent him for your protection. He is there for all your needs, as well as the rest of my crew."

Kathena, once again, nodded gratefully and followed Mika.

Mika didn't say anything as he led her below deck  to her chambers. Before leaving, he turned to Kathena; " Just so you know, I was sent here for your protection, yes...but, if you don't get the power stone... it can go one of two ways. let's just say, neither will be in your favor."

She stood shocked as he walked away. Now she realizes the danger of the situation she's been put in and even worse...her mom was right. Now she must make a choice; Take the power stone, or suffer the consequences.

Once Kathena got herself situated she decided to use the time before they get to the dark sea exploring the ship. She wandered around exploring the many lavish rooms soon to be occupied by the rest of the crew. She stopped when she got near the kitchen hearing a faint mumble coming from within, and decided to try and what was being said; "Why would they send her if they know she won't bring the stone back?" the first voice belonging to the captain whispered, "Because at least she will distract them and gain their trust long enough for me to retrieve it. Then we either leave her to die in the defenseless and powerless kingdom or I kill her if she gets in my way." Kathena gasped recognizing the second voice as no other than Mika. She quickly went back to her quarters and remained until the kitchen brought out food- soup and bread. Kathena stayed on the opposite side of the table from Mika, her stomach dropping every time she replays the conversation from the kitchen, trying to figure out how she is going to keep this unsuspecting kingdom safe from what is coming.
