The Interview

After the battle that took place, Sung Jin Woo and Suther are walking back to the commercial district. While returning, they conversed about the general knowledge and background of where he will be instructing. Including their abilities and equipment to ensure a trust between them. Though short, some sort of brotherly bond grew.

As he talks about the roles of being a teacher, anxiety piles as the discussion continues. Sung Jin Woo is not a good teacher but he learned to adapt to existing events so it's safe to say that he'll be fine as long as he keeps trying.

"The monsters here are called Grimms?"

"Yes, they vary from aquatic, terrestrial, and aerial species. You can tell that it's a Grimm because their bodies are always dark in color with red glowing eyes."

"How do they act? Do they work in packs or by themselves?"

"Those things can work in packs or solo. Some are just bullshit that I can't even understand and that's saying something 'cause I've been researching as much as I could and can't find the reason for a few of their actions. It's like some force is controlling them."

"A force? It sounds probable."

"It behaves similarly to the shadow soldiers you summoned."

"If so then finding the source is the best way to eradicate the beasts all at once. The problem is though, where?" He pondered to which he was seized by Suther for a more pressing topic.

"Sung Jin Woo, you can think about that later. What you should think about now is how you would tell your origins to the Headmaster. He isn't exactly the easy type. It takes a lot of energy to trick him."

"I know that. Assuming that this world doesn't have the means to travel different dimensions, he'd call you crazy and probably contact the medical ward." His statement caused Suther to chuckle momentarily. A sense of familiarity grows with each word they utter as they joke around about the negative effects of declaring that they are from other worlds.

The Lord of shadows changes the topic. This time, it was a more important topic than meeting Ozpin and his fake background.

"So now that you've met me, I'm sure you have plans for the rest that may end up here."

"More than plans at this point."

"Oh? Pray tell." He asks, clearly intrigued.

"I dream of building my own port here in Remnant. A port where people like us can live their lives however they want. Whether it be Humans, Faunus, or the peculiar, I will give them a place to stay."

Sung Jin Woo paused with a stare of praise, seeing as nearly no one in his world was selfless as him. The Lord of Shadows' ambition is to lay waste on his planet's adversaries. He would sacrifice his mind, body, and soul to achieve it, and achieve it he did. That ambition is no more. Although the possibility of being able to meet his parents is but a dream, at least they were safe from forces that can destroy worlds.

He was happy and sorrowful at the same time.

The moment he entered this world, he had no purpose. If he could give it to someone who is similar to him, then maybe the power he wields still has value to hold other than eradicating his enemies.

"What a lofty dream."

"Better than having none."

At the Headmaster's office, Suther can see that his Headmaster elated. The God Eater went ahead and presented a detailed report of Sung Jin Woo's abilities and intentions. Simply put, he is a blank slate with no known roles and he's looking to find one in Beacon Academy. With Suther observing at the side while Ozpin is examining the updated dossier. The conclusion he reached upon seeing everything he has to offer has been thought out through and through with a little bit of distrust.

But before he could say it to him, Headmaster Ozpin had a few questions in mind. He then asks the person standing in front of him.

"So you want to become a Professor at my school? I'm gonna need your background to see if you're trustworthy. First off, where were you born?"

"I was born in a remote village far from Vale. It doesn't have a name and is barely even a village. Only about 50 people live in it. I don't have a father by blood, but I know someone whom I respect and consider as a father. I never knew my mother, all I know is that the village chief found me in the forest during my infancy."

"Oh, my. I'm sorry to hear that."

"No need. I've come to terms with it along my journey."

"What were you doing before entering Vale?"

"Mostly wandering around."

"Wandering? Why is that?"

"Before my adulthood, a horde of Grimms destroyed my village and everyone who lived there. My Friends and the elderly consumed right in front of my eyes including..."

He tightened his fist, clearly struggling to utter a single word. Sung Jin Woo is selling his story as best as he could because no one can believe the truth. Not even the wise.

"My only friend."

That word spoked volumes, stunning professor Glynda and Ozpin altogether. Suther unconsciously grinned. Upon realizing, he covered his mouth and face to the side. Making it seem as though he is sympathizing with his made-up story.

"I was lucky to survive, yet It felt like I'm supposed to join them. Do you know how fucked up that sounds?"

"I understand, losing your loved ones can affect you in many ways."

He continues. "After that event, with no known relatives that could help me, I wandered around, trying to hone everything my tutor taught me. So for most of my life, I slept outside and hunted both grimms and animals. This lasted until I met him."

Sung Jin Woo points at Suther.

"Is that so?" Ozpin says while scratching his chin. "About your aura and your semblance. May I know it's characteristics?"

"I think it's best if I could show it to you rather than tell you."

"Please do, sir Sung Jin Woo."

And so he did. Sung Jin Woo rolls up his sleeve and flexes his right hand. By doing so, his arm is gradually being replaced by a jet-black gauntlet with a bright purple glow. The density, intensity, and raw energy sent shivers down their spines.

"This is my Aura. It hardens a part of my body in response to stress or physical trauma. The only thing that can break through it's defense is probably a military grade cannon." He informs Ozpin. After doing so, he shakes his right arm and the energy surrounding it fades away, leaving an untainted arm.

"Next is my Semblance." A flash of dark energy erupted from his shadow, revealing a large knight with a light purple glow, jet-black armor covering him from head to toe, a tattered black cape, and a long red hair-like ornament extending out of the back of his helmet. Coincidentally, this soldier is from the same picture that the dossier had. This shadow was a little bit oblivious, not knowing that he's expelling its energy to a point where Headmaster Ozpin and Glynda couldn't move from their respective positions.

"Igris, behave." Sung Jin Woo orders to which the death knight complies with lowering the volume of his seething might. The two of them regained their motor functions, one of them wasn't affected at all. Almost like there was nothing to be nervous about.

"This is my semblance. I can summon a soldier to fight alongside me whenever and wherever I need. It can regenerate its body as long as I have enough energy to spare."

"A semblance with sentience? How is that possible?"

"Picture this."

The Monarch begins to explain. His shadow soldier then returned to its rightful place.

"What happens when a person is isolated from society and doesn't know how to make his or her first step? It's only natural for that person to ask for help but to whom? Alone, hopeless, starving and parched. The only thing that he could do is survive, but who said that he had to do it solo? Thus his semblance manifested. No longer was he alone. The child fought for himself along with the manifestations of his soul. Only knowing how to fight for most of his life."

"Despite that past, you seem awfully well."

"I was fortunate enough to meet someone who taught me virtues and values. By the time he was confident enough to send me out to society and say goodbye, that person gave me a parting gift."

"Parting gift?" Ozpin said while tilting his head.

"Ah, hold on a moment."

The knight returned to his shadow, understanding that he is already finished displaying his power to the audience.

He holds his hand forward. Sparks of blue lightning emerged from his fingertips and slowly materialized a weapon gifted by Thomas Andre himself. A pair of large light orange daggers with gray hilts and glowing blood-red edges, with one dagger being thicker than the other. The smaller dagger has a black blade guard, while the thicker one has a golden blade guard.

"Meet my weapon, 'Kamish's Wrath'. This is my tutor's gift."

Sung Jin Woo then starts to fiddle the weapon around, causing strong winds to envelop the room.

"These daggers grant a power boost to their user, making light work on strenuous tasks. The daggers are also aura-sensitive, meaning that these dagger's power will increase based on their user's abilities, and even allow their user to alter their weight however they please." He then stops, dematerialized his weapon, and questions him. "Is this enough, Headmaster Ozpin?"

Ozpin was now in contemplation. Whether or not this man is a threat, his power cannot be ignored along with Suther's. Granted he was a bit of a gambler so taking risks was not at all an uncommon occurrence of his.

"I've seen a lot today. More so than I should."

Sung Jin Woo breathes a sigh of relief.

"First and foremost, let me apologize. I cannot let you become a professor yet. The semester has already started and the faculty doesn't expect a person like you teaching this early."

"Is that so?"

"For now, I can only offer you to be Suther's assistant."

"Fair enough, I accept."

"Well then." Ozpin stood up from his chair and closed the distance between Sung Jin Woo. "Welcome to Beacon." He presents his hand, open for him to shake.

He gladly does so without hesitation.

"Thank you, Headmaster Ozpin." After his words, his face flashed a tender smile. It seemed to be for the very first time in his life, he was needed
