Chapter 14

Grace could only smile wryly, she had no idea what to do now. All of her efforts to escape from this terrifying castle have failed. Apparently, she remembered many horror stories told by Korvin back in the days, about a mysterious castle in which bizarre people lived in. Those people secluded themselves from the public and it gave them a public perception of pitiful and lonely people. The story was getting even stranger when it was found out that the owner of said castle was a hideous and cruel old man. He was a mafia of unparalleled ruthlessness, killing and raping were his bread and butter. Then midnight comes, along with the blood-curdling howl of a wolf. At that moment, the lord of that castle stood on a balcony of his room while enjoying a red liquid in a crystal glass with a distinguished stench emanating from it.

Grace hugged herself now then resumed to drag her case up the stairs. Once she arrived in her room, she locked herself shut. Somehow that horror story told by Korvin has come to reality and it made her want to get away from this place as far as possible.

Grace removed her shoes, then walked toward the balcony of her room. If she could tie several bed sheets into a long rope, would it be usable to descend herself low enough so that she could safely jump down without breaking any of her bones?

Grace gulped in fear while looking down from her balcony. Even the second floor of this building was extremely high. She wondered how many bed sheets it would take to make a rope that could help her descend safely? That was a totally ridiculous idea.

"Ms. Hester, is there something that you need?"

Grace looked back, she immediately walked toward Gob that had suddenly appeared in her room. She remembered clearly that she had this room locked shut, then how could Gob enter her room through the door?

Grace shrieked in surprise, Gob raised a bunch of keys in response.

"I own the key to each and every door in this castle, Ms. Hester," Gob answered as if he knew what Grace had in mind.

"Mr. Gob, can I ask you a few questions?" Grace asked him. Gob nodded politely.

"With pleasure, Ms. Hester. Ask away."

"You have said to me that my presence in this family is like a highly esteemed guest, do you remember?" Gob nodded, agreeing with her statement. "Tell me, what do you mean by that, Mr. Gob? Does Kyle's family have known about me all along or even before I started work here? Is that why he only sent an invitation for a work interview only for me? Am I right?"

Gob remained silent, now a single word came out of his mouth.

"Tell me the truth, Mr. Gob. Tell me all about this! Are you..are you also a part of whatever is going on in here? This job is insane, it was not meant to be done by a human being, Mr. Gob. You knew that! Had I known more about this job, I would never have come here!" Grace violently messed her hair in stress. Gob could do nothing in front of that frustrated woman. Yes, he knew what was going on all this time, but there was nothing he could have done. He was the most loyal servant in this castle. He would never raise an objection or ask a question even when his master decapitated someone right before his very eyes. Yes, he has no power over his master's affair. "He…Young Master Kyle, he…" Grace's voice went hoarse as she slumped on the floor. She seems very frustrated, so much so, she prefers death over Nicholas' torture upon her. She unbuttoned her shirt to reveal her bruised nipple to Gob, which made him look away immediately. "He uses me to satisfy his wild fantasy, Mr. Gob, through the use of many terrifying devices. Not only my nipple, but my entire body is injured because of that bastard. I–"

Grace fell on the floor, a sedative shot instantly brought her down. For a moment, Gob lowered his gaze.

"Pardon me, Young Master Kyle. I cannot stand still while knowing that Ms. Hester keeps trying to leap out of her balcony," Gob tried to justify his presence in Grace's room.

"Leave this room!" That order echoed across the room, Gob left the room without delay.

Nicholas smiled snidely, then he carried that small-figured woman. He then put her down in her bed and stripped her naked. He smiled wryly as he observed her injuries. He then looked to his side to see a healing salve that he gave her in the corner of her room. He picked it up, he saw that she did not apply that salve. He knew that she despised him so much that she would not treat her injuries with Nicholas' salve.

Carefully, Nicholas treated her wound with his salve then gently patted her head.

"Forgive me, Grace. I did not know that you would not like it and I did not know that it was your first time. I will treat you more gently next time or I will wait until you want to."

Nicholas kissed Grace's lips and he would have done more if he did not know that she was injured. He sighed heavily and withdrew himself while looking at her who were sleeping soundly.

"Sleep tight, I will come back later to talk about this affair with you. I hope that you will find peace, Grace. Your peace is what I yearn for. I have waited for you since forever, please do not make me wait any longer,"

Nicholas left after he looked at her one last time, then he looked at Gob that was still standing by the door.

"Guard this room, do not let her get out of here." Nicholas gave his order. He then walked down the stairs to his library.

Gob looked at Grace who was lying weakly on her bed, covered from toe to neck with a blanket. He then lowered his gaze and faithfully stood guard beside her bed.

"Mr. Gob, what are you doing here? Where is Nick?" Marvin, who had just left his office, greeted Gob. He knew that Gob had stood there like a dummy by the doorway for some time. After Marvin looked at the girl lying unconscious on the bed, he held back his smile then said "Looks like a tough job you got here, pal!"
