Tobin crossed his arms, mouth drooping in a frown. "She told me she was pregnant. That it was still early but she was very confident. And yesterday, she goes and tells me she's just…not. Says she made an innocent mistake. How the hell does a woman get something like that wrong?"
Celia tried not to let the sudden relief show on her face.
There was no longer a rival to her child. Maybe there would be another rival in the future but as far as today went, she could stop worrying for now-
"Celia?" His impatient tone cut into her thoughts. "I asked you a question."
"Well, I don't know." she murmured, keeping her eyes downcast. "Is it possible Lady Briar miscarried?"
"No, that's not what she said. Briar made it sound like she'd never been with child after all. Besides, everyone knows that a miscarriage is caused by committing terrible sins." Tobin grumbled.
