~Chapter 27 Blaze's POV~

I parked the car along the street and went over to the elevator. I went up to their floor and knocked on the door. It was Dustin's mother who answered the door.

"Hello, Mr. Ember. What brings you here?" She said

"Hello, Mrs. Lida. I was wondering if I could talk about Dustin's college?"

"Yes. My husband is at work right now so we can talk comfortably," she said.

I walked into the apartment and took off my shoes in the doorway.

"I apologize for my husband's behavior when you first met. He is not very happy when someone mentions Dustin," she said.

"I won't say I am fine with his attitude but I will not argue with him because I do not want to bother Dustin and make their bond any worse," I told her.

"I completely understand why you would not want to invite my husband and me to your wedding. I know my husband and I have not been the best parents. Now looking back now that I am older I realize I should not have tolerated my husband's behavior towards Dustin. Now I only wish I can be forgiven for my actions one day."

"I can here to give you my business card so you can reach out when all of us can have a civil conversation over a meal one day," I said handing her my business card.

"Thank you so much." Mrs. Lida said.

"Since the situation has changed I was wondering if you and your husband are still paying for Dustin's college. If you no longer want to pay for his college just tell me so I can work out the paperwork."

"We will continue to pay for his college that is the least I can do for him after he has suffered this much. I may have a hard time convincing my husband but I will continue to pay for his schooling," she said.

"Okay thank you. I will leave now unless you want to talk to me about anything else." I told Mrs. Lida.

"No. Thank you for visiting. You've given me hope that one day I can talk to my son without him hating me. I know it won't be the same but all I can do is hope now."

I nodded my head before leaving the apartment. I don't expect Dustin to forgive his parents easily after all they've done. Whatever he chooses to do I'll side with him. Now that I have finished all my errands I can return home. I can give Dustin his gift and talk with him about everything. I went down to my car and started the drive home.

After I arrived home I grabbed the gift and snuck in through the back door. I wanted to surprise him and make myself look neater. I quietly went upstairs but Oliver was not helping me since he was slowly but surely climbing up the stairs. He is the cutest puppy I have ever seen. I reached the top of the stairs and I waited for Oliver to reach the top and then we continued going to my room.

I opened the bedroom door and Dustin was changing his shirt.

"Oh my gosh. I am sorry for interrupting you. I'll give you some privacy." I said while closing the door.

"Wait. It's fine, we are going to be married soon so it's fine." Dustin said.

He was blushing. Dustin is the most handsome man I have ever seen I can't believe I get to marry him soon. He's the man I'll spend the rest of my life with. The person I will start a family with and grow old with.

"I have a gift for you," I said handing him the small box.

"Oh thank you. You didn't have to get me anything though."

He can closer to me and wrapped his arms around me. I wrapped my arms around him giving him a long loving hug. His scent was comforting and familiar. Oliver was walking around our legs yipping with joy and wagging his tail. I breathed in his scent relishing every second of it.

"Let me put on a sweater real quick," Dustin said breaking the hug.

He went over to the closet grabbing a sweater from our closet. He slid his arms through the sleeves and put his head through the top. He sat down on the bed and patted a spot next to him and signaled me to sit next to him. I walked over to the bed and sat next to him putting my head on his shoulder. He ripped the wrapping on the box and opened the small box. Dustin took out the chain and held it up.

"Just in case you don't want to wear your ring on your ring you can still wear it with this chain," I said to him.

"Thank you, it's beautiful." He said giving me another hug.

I broke the hug and kissed him.

"I love you and I can't wait for our wedding," I told him.

"Same," he said.

I gently pushed him down on the bed and hugged him. I inched closer to him wrapping my arms around him.

"On our wedding day do you want to wear a black or white suit?" I asked him.

"I want to wear a white suit. I think you should wear a black suit." Dustin told me.

I hummed in agreement. Oliver was barking at the bottom of the bed because he wanted to get on the bed and cuddle with us. Dustin sat up and picked up the cream-colored puppy putting him between the two of us. Oliver started licking my hand because I wasn't petting him.

"Look at you Mr. you want attention don't you," I said in a sing-song voice ruffling the fur on his head. I pet his back and continued to pet him for a few minutes before he went to sleep.

"Look at that just a little bit of petting and he falls right asleep," I told Dustin.

"Want to take a nap?" Dustin asked me.

"Why not? Oliver is taking a nap we might as well join him."

I kissed Dustin and then we both closed our eyes in an attempt to take a nap.
