Chapter two

two weeks later....

A bird perched on the window before flying off into the clouds,I watched it in a daze.Two weeks has passed by so fast.I was able to move about with Miss linda's help.The nurse i saw when i first woke up and I was officially declared mute with anmesia.yayyy me.

"you're not that old to be thinking too deeply"Miss linda said,I didn't realize she had come in."you were so deep in thoughts you didn't know when i came in,how are you feeling,scarlet"miss linda said with a warm smile i nodded in response.

"that's nice,well I have good news for you"she said grinning from ear to ear,she must be really excited I couldn't help but smile along with her.

"you'll be leaving the hospital soon"she blurted out in one go. I smiled in response to the news. she looked disappointed,I reached over the desk for the pad Ms Linda had gotten me.

"I thought you would be excited"she let out an exaggerated sigh I laughed."sometime you act too old for your age"she said.

I typed in the pad.'I will going to foster care',She looked at me. "yh----,I guess you heard it from the officers before", there was an awkward silence.

The officers had come to ask me some question about the fire but I wasn't of any help,they were talking outside my door and I over heard them saying that my mother's body had been brought to the hospital I immediately got up rushing to the door they were startled by my sudden outburst i was so anxious to see my mother I begged them to take me to her,but no one answered I ran past them going around the hospital some nurse chasing behind me luckily I saw some men dragging a body rushing beside them i threw the cover away revealing a body burned to crisp,Miss linda had caught up to me holding me back as I struggled crying bitterly,I was given a sedative and carried back to my room.I had not stepped out of my room since then,she looked distressed but it disappeared as quickly as it came,she smiled reassuringly.

"There are kids out there who also don't have homes after they lost their parents"she failed at being comforting but i knew she meant well, i smiled reassuring her i was fine.

"well…

she was cut off by a knock on the door,they must be here,she stood up to answer the door."Hello,come on in,"he ushered an elderly woman, maybe in her fifties she looked stressed bags under eyes.Miss Linda looked at me."Scarlet meet Ms jane,Ms jane scarlet" she clasping her palms together I chuckled at typical Miss linda, she looked between both of us,"okayyy, I'll leave you guys to talk a bit"Ms Linda said as she exited the room not before giving me a thumbs up as she left.

I looked up at Miss Jane,my smile fading she had stern look on her face guess she must be strict."I see your faring well",referring to miss linda.

'she takes care of me well'.

"I see,well I'm from the foster care and after you are discharged we'll go".she explained some other things to me that I must know before I went to the foster care home.The thought of mixing with other people didn't sit well with me.

Some minutes later

"You're all ready to go now"Ms. Linda said, putting away somethings.I had changed into a yellow flowery dress.I gave her a 'really' kinda look.

"You look so adorable,"miss linda said ignoring my reaction to the dress.

She bent down pulling me into a hug she pulled back clasping her hands on my cheeks.

"If I could I would have taken you home,but where you're going isn't bad too,you will meet kids your age, play dress up and tea parties,you wouldn't even notice I'm not there"she said,as she hugged me again.i felt a tug in my chest what she said didn't make sense but I didn't want to leave.Ms Jane came in,signaling it was time to go

"Be a good kid,yah hear"she said, patting my head as she stood up.Ms Jane reached out her hand which I grabbed on to as we left the room out of the hospital.

The journey was long we pulled some stops to get me some new clothes and other things needed.she told me the foster care was also a school,reminding me to be of conduct.I rolled my eyes at the several lectures.I'm not there and I'm already tired of hearing about it.After a long drive we finally pulled up at very big estate gate.It was big to say,we entered,I looked out the window gaping at some of the scenery.This place was huge I could get lost.

"Isn't it lovely"Ms Jane said driving up to the buildings,Now I see why she takes pride in this place.we came to a stop.I came down going to the boot to get my luggages.I followed behind her quietly admiring the structure and how big it was.She beckoned on a girl,dressed in uniform who looked older than me.

"This is Samantha, she is your senior but more like a big sister,she will show you to your room and explain the rest of everything to you"she looked at Samantha, "she's all yours,take care of her"she said as rushed off.

"I'll be taking you to your room then"she said as I followed closely behind.Along the way she showed me the dining room,classes.she was nice and took time explaining everything to me.

More than a week had passed since I came here.I already got the hang of things but I still missed Linda.I hadn't made much friends and I didn't make much effort to.I was stared at like an alien and turns out I was the only mute girl in the school.But I did have someone who came up to me despite the looks I was getting,her name was Anne, she helped me in class with her notes she didn't hang out in class mostly in the library .Samantha was there to help but since she was a senior,she couldn't always be there.I didn't want to cause trouble so I bared with it.

I was currently on my way to the library.It has become a safe spot for me ,people hardly went there on days like today.so less annoying nosey people for me.some of the students had walked up to me,and asked to confirm whether I was mute.Anne had stepped up for me driving them,but that didn't stop them.

Thud!

The books I carried scattered across the floor.If Miss linda saw me now.I sighed looking at the ground then back up at the person I bumped into,a guy and not bad on the eye.

"can't you watch were you're going" he hissed at me,but a crappy personality.I bent down to get my books as he rushed off to where ever he was headed.I resisted the urge to throw a book at his head and calmly made my way to the library.

The next day,

I was on my way again to the library again and guess who i saw not looking where he was going.The cute guy with the ugly personality such a waste a good looks. A mischevious smile turned on my face,I increased my pace making sure to bump into his shoulder hard, he fell to the ground.I passed not bothering to look over my shoulder for his reaction which would have been price less by the way.I smiled victoriously on entering the library chuckling to myself

"Oh my,did i grow testicles or did you just smile",trying to sound shocked,I rolled my eyes dropping the books on the desks for her.she reminded me a lot of Miss linda.

"So what happened,is it a guy. did someone asked you out?,is he cute?.how could you leave me"I brought out my tablet to type explaning to her what happened,anne broke out into a series of laughter."you really did that"she asked again for the millionth time I nodded waiting for the fits of laughter but she didn't laugh again,I stared at her for some seconds,3 2 1..., she bursts into laughter again,I left her there going to find a book to read.

The next day in class,I got to class late rushing in,"welcome miss scarlet have your seat",I nodded making it to my chair,I sat down.

crash

I laid down on the ground in shock.Did my chair just break?.I could hear some people trying their best to hold the laughter in but i could still hear snorts and giggles.The teacher on the other hand wasn't really happy.He folded his arm giving me a platonic look.

"you came late and finally disrupted my class",I got up embarrased grabbing my bag.

'I'll be going to nurses office',I left the class in a hurry to the nurse room.today wasn't just my day.

The next day,my locker was filled with smelly gym sock.

and the day after that was my tablet was broken and having to ask Ms Jane to help me fix it well not before scolding me about being careless with my stuffs.

"who else could it except the guy you bumped into"anne said, she came to look for me in the library and I filled her in on what had happened the past few days.'how could anyone be so childish',it was starting to piss me off.

"I'm sure he's going to get tired just wait it out"she said, yh cause it couldn't get any worse.

But day after day,I was met with more disgusting pranks like who came up with all these childish pranks,my patience was ticking already not wanting to create a scene.I sighed deeply as the bell ringing signaling time for lunch.

"eating will make you feel better"as if on cue my stomach growled.

In the cafeteria,

It was noisy, making me wanted quickly eat and leave. we got our food,choosing to seat in the corner of the hall.Anne sat down immediately scuffing down the food.I chuckled at her,she really knew how to lighten up the mood.I was about to eat when hot liquid burned my neck soaking my shirt, I winced in pain trying to rub off the hot liquid,turning to see 'him'.He laughed with his friends soon enough everyone was laughing."next time don't be a little tattle tale".I ran away from the cafeteria not wanting to see anyone's face.Soon enough the news got to Ms Jane and we both we're called to her office.He was punished lightly I might add but I was allowed to rest for some days.Anne had told me it was her that reported.Also his father was a major investor in the foster care.
