Part Three

The lioness and the Lamb part three

~Jyn~

I couldn't rationalize how she got here or why but fear was coursing through me because my father was home. The fact that he could show up here at any time since he didn't have business scares me. She shouldn't be here.

Jyn; " You have to leave right now Cathrine."

Catherine; " Jyn... What's wrong I came to see you because you never came back to me. You missed work and-"

Jyn; " Stop talking please I have to get you out of here."

Catherine; " Why what's going on, I came to see you. Talk to me please Jyn, do I matter to you at all.?"

It hurt to hear those words from her but I don't think she realized how deep they cut me. The only thing I could do was kiss her just like I did the first time we kissed, but then I heard my father's voice. He had come back she's in so much danger right now but she doesn't seem to understand that at all. Taking her hand I told her to be quiet and follow me, I tried my hardest to sneak her out the side door but I'm just unlucky.

Dalia; " My word Jyn what are you doing sneaking up on me... Oh dear God, who is that?"

Jyn; " Mother please I'll explain later just let me get her out of here please."

Dalia; " Child you don't have much time, your father was looking for you... I won't question this woman but you better hurry."

With that, she walked off and I escorted Cathrine outside finally. We were almost at the front gate when my father caught us from the front door. He called out to me and I froze up my mind was racing so fast, but I didn't have any solution to this. My body was shaking because I knew that this was not gonna end well. When I turned around he was already approaching us and the only thing I could do was protect her.

Jyn; " Stay behind me and don't speak too much. I'll get you out of this."

Ethan; " You will seriously make me walk all this way even though you heard me calling you. I do not have time to waste...Who are you.?"

Jyn; " Just my girlfriend I was showing her the way-"

Ethan; " I wasn't speaking to you."

I swallowed hard because I was now staring at my father while shaking. I didn't want her to meet him or any of them, she should have listened.

Catherine; " My Names Cathrine, I just came to make sure Jyn was okay."

I could feel his eyes analyzing her like he expected her to lie, but she doesn't know how to do that. That's reserved for scoundrels like me and my family.

Ethan; " Nice to meet you... Catherine, but this land isn't a playground. Next time arrange a proper meeting don't go sneaking around my home, am I clear."

His voice was controlled but firm when he spoke however he raised me, and I couldn't contain my anger at the way he treated her in my presence.

Jyn; " Do not speak to her like that, Father."

I saw his eyes but I didn't back down no matter how much I was afraid of him. I slowly backed her up till I got her outside, she tried to speak but I told her to run. I walked away without another word to her because my father and I were not done with this conversation. I had to stand my ground no matter the consequences. Strength mattered most in this family because if you were weak you didn't belong here. This lesson was drilled into me since I was eleven because if it wasn't me that suffered my father's teachings, then my siblings would have suffered. Once inside the house once more that's when it started spiraling and my mother stepped away like normal.

Ethan; " You brought another of your things, in my house. Do you have no respect?"

Jyn; " You will not call her a thing in my presence am I clear."

Ethan; " You are still a pup who thinks she can bite, you need to understand your place. Do I have to re-educate you again?"

I was still shaking because my father and I have always come to blows when our conversations never matched up. I wasn't backing down from this and neither was he, our conversation continued getting heated. We argued and lashed out at each other back and forth I just didn't see it coming. He was always the strongest in our family but I was normally the fastest just not this time, his right hook sent me spiraling. It was no different than every other time we clashed, however this time I was fueled by something else. So I got back up whipping the blood away from my lip and I stood my ground once more. This was one thing he won't win, even if I have to challenge him.

After a few hours of getting knocked around my body wanted to give in luckily a knock on the door saved my life. Because defiant children are replaceable and I knew this but I had no control here. I was powerless inside these walls and I hated this weakness inside of me, but the thing that drove it home was his comment.

" You will never be strong if you don't fight back. Learn your place before you think of challenging me again."

I soon found myself slumping against the wall every bit of my body was screaming in pain. Sitting on this floor I was able to catch my breath just barely, I wanted to see her. That was the thought that crossed my mind so crawled up that wall and stumbled out of this house. Everyone who worked here saw but said nothing and I wouldn't expect them to, because this is what happens when you challenge my father. I didn't know how I was going to find her but I had to do something, luckily she was waiting outside for me.

Catherine; " My God.....Jyn"

She rushed to my side and I couldn't speak a word because I hated this weakness inside of me, I was ashamed of myself. But she never sees me as weak and she's always at my side, I wish I had her strength. She walked me to her house but we didn't speak a word, even as she cleaned and iced my wounds. I couldn't say anything I just felt so pathetic, it was eating me alive inside. But she was here and that was enough for me to swallow my wounded pride.

Catherine; " I don't need to know what happened...But if you got hurt because of me, then I beg you not to. I can't bear to see you like this. I'm sorry if I caused this, I just selfishly wanted to see you. Because I thought you might have moved on... Forgive me I'm so sorry."

With those words spoken I finally was able to cry as she held me. She didn't speak anything more she just held me in her bed, in this moment I had the peace I longed for. She brought a calm and a storm to my soul, something worth fighting for that much I know.
