Chapter 13

"Well, we see no problems with your relationship, but as alpha and omega you two should also know this, but are you being careful? Do you need me to make you a new birth control that will last you through your heat? I have a contraceptive in the works that is targeted toward the male in a beta relationship, if I tweak it, I might be able to make it work for an alpha male as well…" Lionel raised an eyebrow at the two young adults.

Leon went pink faced, which Vivi found really adorable, especially when her dad nearly spluttered and looked like a fish out of water. She decided to mess with her dad just for the fun of it… "Oh, I don't know… Mom has always wanted grandkids…"

That did it. She broke her dad. Asher gaped and was bugged eyed, and he was attempting to form sentences but failing miserably.

"Vi!" Leo squeaked.

Vivi leaned over and whispered in his adorably pink ear, "Don't take it seriously, We're not ready for kids yet. I just wanted to mess with my dad. See? He can't form a coherent thought!" She giggled.

Leon heaved a sigh of relief and noticed that his mom was just about ready to bust a gut laughing so hard without being audible about it.

"Mom?!" he asked incredulously. He never expected his mom to find that funny.

"Vivi, you are so your mother's daughter!" Kaito laughed so hard, and this time had tears streaming down his face as he laughed.

"Oh, don't you dare tell her, Kaito!" Darrol laughed as well. He knew why Kaito was laughing so much. He had said something similar to his own mother when he was teenager, thinking he was so grown up. But the joke was on him as not even a year later he was expecting Vivi.

"You see, once upon a time, your mom…." Kaito laughed and then yelped as Darrol leaned over and promptly punched his arm.

Vivi and Leon gaped at their moms. Of their dads, Lionel was grinning, taking the joke as what it was meant to be while Asher still struggled to see that this was in jest.

"Dad, I'm not being serious. It was a facetious statement. Neither Leon, nor I, are ready to be parents, yet. So, to answer Uncle Lionel, we are being careful, and I might take you up on a new suppressant though, Uncle Lionel. Although having Leon take a contraceptive would probably be best too, considering his allergy." Vivi said.

"Vi! Shh!" Leon said too late.

"What allergy is that, Vivi?" Lionel was curious because to his and Kaito's knowledge, their children had no allergies.

"Well, we found out that Leon is allergic to latex…" She said in an impersonal voice that she had used when reciting her exam answers for her practical. It was a fact of life and nothing to be ashamed of. People developed all kinds of allergies and latex was a fairly rare one so it was important to let Leo's dad know this.

"That's good to know. I shall make a note of that so that I don't use any latex products in anything for the two of you." Lionel said in an equally impersonal tone. Being a scientist, he did sometimes use latex for some things he created.

Asher was dumbfounded and could barely form a coherent thought after Vivi said that she would make them grandparents. His little girl wasn't a little girl anymore, he knew that. But, to all but say that she was a woman in 'that' way now, was more than he could handle. Then she goes on to say that Leon is allergic to latex in a manner that made it sound as if they had found this out together.

The only thing he could think of, that contained latex, were condoms. This meant in no uncertain terms that he could not pretend otherwise, was that his little girl was undoubtedly a woman now and was sexually active. Not only that, but it was also with Leon, his godson, whom he had watched grow up over the years…

"Ash, Honey, it's okay. We knew this day would come ever since they were kids. Remember how Leon used to follow Vivi around like a puppy? He never really outgrew that behavior. Think of how many times that he has volunteered to get Vivi home when she's had her rogue heats and collapsed? How each and every time he was so protective of her? How he never once made us think that he couldn't handle being around her. How we've trusted her with him even though she was still producing some pheromones left over from her heats? Leon has been bonded to her before we even realized it, much like how we were and how Lionel and Kaito were. This is absolutely a sign of him being her fated mate." Darrol tried to reassure his husband.

"Darling, you're okay with Leo taking her innocence?!" Asher asked.

"Asher! I can't believe that is what you are hung up on!" Darrol scolded his husband. "All that matters to me is that Leon makes Vivi happy and has never been a predator towards her. Innocence is such a crude term used to control a person's body when it's none of other people's business, especially ours if that is something that Vivi wanted to give with a sound and consenting mind…" He looked pointedly at the two for confirmation.

"Uncle Asher, Uncle Darrol, Mom and Dad have drilled consent into me for as long as I can remember. I made absolutely sure that Vi was ready and willing to take that step with me before we did anything. I would never have made that kind of move if she didn't consent to it first." Leo said boldly, sitting up straighter.

"You see, Honey?" Darrol said as he rubbed his poor husband's back.

"I consented to that step before we did anything Mom, Dad." Vivi also declared. "It's also as mom says. As long as I wanted to give that up, it was always my choice. It's not as if Leo is a kid and neither am I! You can't shelter me forever, Dad. I'm a grown woman that probably knows more about the human body than you." She laughed at his expression of sorrow and disbelief. "Dad, I'm a med school student, about to be a doctor. Of course, I have to know the human body! You can't bury your head in the sand forever you know!"

Asher just slumped in his seat and felt miserable. His notions of protecting his carefree and innocent daughter were being misinterpreted as controlling her body. It made him take a good hard look at himself and his actions and words over the years that Vivi had grown up. Was he really coming across as that bad? He couldn't deny though that even if he felt that his words were meant to be protective, they were also controlling of something that he had no right to protect any longer. It was up to Vivi to do that once she had come of age, and here he was acting like a total controlling father…

Vivi squeezed Leo's hand before releasing it to go over to her dad. She knelt in front of him and tried to look him in the eye since he had his head lowered. "Dad. Thank you for looking out for me over the years. You are still the best dad in the whole world. I know you were just trying to protect me, but as you can see, I don't need your protection any longer. I am handing that role over to Leo. Leo was my chosen protector from the moment I realized he was my mate. He has promised to stand by me and help me achieve my dreams, just like I want to support his dreams. We have a partnership of equal standing, much like our favorite role models… That would be you and Mom, Uncle Kaito and Uncle Lionel, Dad." Vivi tried to gently explain.

"Uncle Asher, I promise to protect Vi with everything I have. I will help her in her time of need, and I will support her when she needs a break from things. If she chooses to be a stay-at-home mom, I will be more than happy to support her in that role. If she wants to go back to work after we have children, then that too, I will support her in it. I will help her with the children, no matter what she chooses, not that we are planning on kids quite yet, but eventually we both decided that we would like a few of our own." Leo said nobly.
