The life of a Don

It was a world where strength mattered most a world where in return for protection the mighty were treated as gods, granted anything they wanted without fail where the greatest of them all could bend specific forces of nature as if they were extensions of their bodies conflict ever present and bloodshed plentiful but who would dare complain when tje rewards were worth it it was a world he didnt belong in yet he was there all the same, this is the story of a man who fate, circumstance and a promise thrust him into a position he could neither hate nor love decisions he could neither regret nor look fondly on this is the story of a Don. .................................................................................. CONCLUSION

Raine's pov

"bring him out"

finally, what we were all waiting for had finally happened Langris had made his move, in most cities the first Don couldn't always act with impunity simply because he was the strongest after all it wasn't uncommon for more than one Don to make an alliance and gang up on him or her to prove a point sure neither one would get his or her position but they'd make it clear that they're willing to kill h to get their words across but that's not what happens in Trident, in Trident Langris's word is law not because we all feared his strength but because we all believed in him.

I remember it as clearly as yesterday, i had defeated the former 5th Don and just finished establishing my guild when i started to move, and in the coming month i had defeated the 4th and 3rd it was when i faxed David that i had trouble but before i could go into seclusion in order to recover he came to visit.

Some people say he came to beg, some say he came to bribe me but none of them could be further from the truth, no he came to convince me to join him in achieving his goals goals that only he and a few others are privy to goals he could only achieve in the position he held and before that he also made it clear that unless he sat on his ass doing nothing for the next 250 years i would never beat him and he wasn't going to wait, safe to say i was infected aspirations could be lofty this particular one was insanity but i couldn't help but want to join, i had my goals too but they weren't as well defined as his hell it was more apt to call them pipe dreams his didn't just make more sense they alinged with mine of we worked together we could actually achieve them, plus I've always been a if you can't beat them today do it tomorrow kind of gal and ill definitely do it.

The prisoner was led in, the venue for our meeting resembled a roofed coliseum with a large center floor where convicts could stand in full view of everyone personally i hated it, it reminded me of the high class slave trading stalls the Frozen Blossoms usually raid buy when he was brought in i realized why that design was so popular, it was an excellent way of admiring the merchandise, he came in shirtless letting his pale skin show, his muscles were well defined as expected of a magis-sword but what caught my attention the most was the scar running across his torso, the mana projectors displayed his face amd i noticed the scar actually started from beneath his lips and stretched across his chest to stop just above his crotch his hair was supposed to be a mess but although dishealved it still contained a magnificent luster but his eyes, his eyes were still blood shot with traces around the edges showing he hadn't slept in a while, he lifted his head to face us and i winced, pain, so much pain suffering i almost felt like releasing him right now, i had heard about how this situation started, there was an eye witness the only member of the guild that wasn't killed and didn't skip town and when faced with his words i didnt know what to say, both of them were in the right the Kalen guy had the right to fight back and kill them but David had to avenge his people or else it would harm both him and his guild, if he had only killed 1 or 2 people the situation would have been salvageable but instead here we are.

In a flash Langris disappeared before landing right in front of him but instead of jerking back from shock he raised an eyebrow, clearly he caught everymove he made and wasn't surprised in the slightest

"what's you're name"

"....Kalen"

"no last name"

"none"

he then pointed to the guards standing at the corner of the room, the were a mixture, three members from each Don's 4 backers

"uncuff him"

"huh"

while the rest blinked and tried to process what the just heard the Lances didn't even waste time rushing over with the keys before unchanging him taking a low bow and returning to where they stood

Kalen did say a word, he didn't make a change in facial expression either but in the corner of his eye puzzlement shown but he didn't have time for it for long before Langris said the words

"match me"

and like that a burst of the purest magical power I've ever felt i was just about to appreciate it before i realized it was hearing straight towards me but before i could counter it a burst of magical energy just as pure but from another source slammed right back into it, i checked to see Kalen fending off this magical assault with neither smile nor frown on his face just confusion, their race increased with both of them threatening to blow away the building we were in

"that's 10th teir alright"

"huh"

no:4 had just spoken

"he's matching the energy of a true 10th teir not a half step one"

sometimes people only get a half completed grand cosmic awakening and as such we call them half step 10 teir, it can be rectified with study but it takes a while to achieve it.

Before i could comment another type of force threatened to slam into the spectators it was blade force, like how mana leaks out from a spell caster blade force leaks out from a blade master and they can harness it to cause pressure on their surroundings, at this point the other Don's and I dispersed from out seats to multiple parts of the floor in order to erect barriers so as to keep the others safe, at this point craters we're beginning to form on the floor and parts of the roof we're collapsing but they didn't stop, the building we were in was made from glyatryrl, an ore capable of witstanding spell from 10teir spell casters but it was caving in under the pressure of two men but before i cluld ponder that i caught a terrifying chill up my spine a me clash had started and it was off 'killing intent', at least i remained on my feet some people in the building simply fell down froating at the mouth

"dreadful"

said no:5,

"how could two people's will to kill be so strong"

"one has to have that will if they want to protect their city what i want to know is why does he have it"

said no:4

"because there are people here wants to kill"

they turned to look at me wondering how i knew that but in truth i be an idiot not to know after all it was the same as mine,

"now the real test begins"

"what"

Langris just said the real test begins now, lets think they've covered mana, blade force, and killing intent what else is there, shit

their Arcanum's rippled out of them like cages birds finally given freedom to meet in the center of the room and what ever modecum fo decorum the people here maintained before now flew out the window as from now real panic ensued, i looked over at the cause and couldn't help but admire it, Langris always did everything he could to get rid of that air that was always around him, he was 6'5 and ripped with muscle but was always wearing large robes while slouching so you wouldn't be able to tell unless you checked carefully the problem was who'd dare scan the first Don with their divine sense, his light Arcanum made a startling comparison with Kalen hell everything they were was startling, while both were handsome Langris was sharp and rugged where Kalen was soft he was also taller than Kale and usually had a smile on his face while situation regardless i dont think Kalen smiles, they continued you paint the room in hues of black and gold and now that i think about it Kalen's Arcanum didn't look like what i expected, it was black as we'd been told but rather than feeling like a thing of pure evil its presence felt natural a part of life, just as Langris's Arcanum reminded me of the Day dazzling and alive Kalen's was like the night calm, inexpressive but necessary

"that's enough"

and like that their clash stopped, we all had varying thought about what just happened but all of us could agree on one thing, if this wasn't worth it?

"Kalen you are guilty of something very bad"

at that he dropped his head and from that i got the sense of an older sibling admonishing his junior

"but we're not here to punish you or at least if that was the case we wouldn't need you here, instead what were here to do is solve the problem you've caused and for that we need your help"

he looked up before saying

"what do i have to do"

Langris smiled as if this was what he had been waiting for his entire life

"Become the third Don of Trident city"

"...."

"WHAT!!!!!!!"
