Factions

There are factions that populate Garlen, it is only natural to understand their movements and get to know they before the end times really start.

Guardsmen, Under the command of Adilen, the military forces struggle to keep the enemies at bay, even if the inner walls are just as chaotic. Although their numbers dwindle every waking moment of their nightmare. They still fight on, in hopes of surviving the beginning of dark times. Even after the fall of the city Adilen rallied his troops and prepared to retreat inwards, even sending a messenger to the bandits for a truce. They must fight the common enemy first. As the city gates opened a man rose out with a grim expression. Riding for the army that had all but halted the invasion!

Whilst Larks army had halted their advance. This great horde of savages have yet found a name for their forces. Only finding their situation of unity temporarily, that said Lark their commander has promised riches under his command. Now they invade Garlen in hopes of raiding the city before winter strikes. Granted they had stopped, growing weary of the mounting risk and the terror that such a destructive tornade or even a pillar of flame caused. What manner of god walked amongst the bellows of smoke within the city? Were they invading for riches? Or to die a meaningless death. Were they going to face the literal sense of death if they breached the walls?

Although unaware of the war within, that pillar had caused them to doubt if they truly caused the battle deep in the city or if it was of another cause. They lowered their blades as the gates opened and a rider came galloping out. The city behind him burned fiercely, foretelling the city gates as the gates of hell! They retreated in bulk at the mere glimpse!

Whilst deep within the city..

The Adventurer guild is stronger than they look. Even if their numbers are weak. Unfortunately they are not big in this city due to lack of work for mercenaries. However in case of attack they will go to the city's aid, although separate from the military branch and will follow their own operations, now when the city is most dire they split forces to deal with two threats.

There were the noble houses, but they had already fallen, Why mention defeated foes? Good question. Lets move on.

It was at this time Huron and his entourage met the lich and his death knights who brought their swords to bear. It was clear a battle was to commence.. NOW!.

BOOOM!

Huron narrowly dodged a claymore sword taking his head off. The blade arched down and struck the ground like a missile. Causing the ground to churn and throw debris from the explosive strength of the wicked metal.

Huron was not alone in facing the enemy. There was also:

Tur - Barbarian

Yen - wizard

Sophia - sword saintess

Q - summoner

Jack'll - blades mage

Uye - druid

To help, the other fourteen split to keep the weaker undead off the main group. Huron withdrew his warhammer, a roar echoed from him, whilst eight fierce flaming arrows rocketed past.

Boom!! Boom!! Boom!! Boom!!

Eight explosions of fire engulfed what they thought was the Lich. However the black silhouette of the Death Knight spoke otherwise.

"Tur, Sophia, and Q! Keep those death knights off us!"

All theee shot past him, Tur carrying a two handed halbert! His body draped in light armor, whilst his body bulged with raw strength. "RAAAAAHHH!"

He brought his Halbert down on the first Death knight, who reacted with their wicked blade.

¡¡CLANK!!

ZINK! BOOOOM!!

He struck down with a frame of 6'7" with two hundred thirty pounds of pure muscle. Able to lift eight hundred pounds alone. That said the Death knight barely budged, its own blade sliding off the halbert to strike Tur who wisely paced out of the way. The cobbled street exploded upon contact. Leaving a small trench where the blade had impacted!

Drawing the Halbert up he forced the Death knight to draw back lest damage be done to its already battered and ancient armor.

Whilst Sophia moved to engage two Death Knights. Both had already lunged at her, blades thrusting to pierce the swordswoman. Only to be met by an equal force. Both their blades were redirected under the efforts of Sophia's blades. After parrying both she drew her swords closer to her before strike up in a reckless double upper strike. Causing one knight to dive right and the other to attempt to bring its sword in for a block. However its wicked blade did little to stop the blade from slamming into its ancient plates, let alone Sophia's second strike that diverted after the other wisely dived. Her second blade came down and across, behind the enemies blade. Forcing the knight back in a stagger from a side blow. The plates there were nearly nonexistent. So it stumbled back from the damage. Wary of its weakness behind the armor and bone/skin.

Danger screamed at Sophia, who pursued the knight to save her life from the one she lost sight of. The blade narrowly severed her legs, instead biting into the cobblestone beneath their feet. The blade skidded with sparks as the knight drew it up. Now behind the Swordswoman, she found herself trapped between the two.

Albeit Sophia found herself in a pickle. It was Q who found to be in the most danger. His body rhythmically moved, whilst earth shook around him. Whispers of a thousand voices breezed past him before his eyes shot open and he stomped the ground

BOOOM!!

RUMBLE*

GRAAHH!!!

Three stone giants broke from the ground, whilst a vortex of wind and earth surrounded Q. He mumbled with arcane delight, before the rest of the Death Knights decided he was the main threat! Before they could spring into action Q grumbled under his breath before stomping his other foot, twisting his left. Which caused a few cracks in the stone and shockwave of debris.

His skin seemingly alight in light green and brown before he punched forth with serious strength. The winds howled at his request, before 2 more stone Giants took form and at the helm of the 5 was a wind elemental.

Duth stared ahead as all his knights were engaged in battle against 3 adventures who seemingly stood a chance. He trusted his troops, especially the Knights. So he guaranteed their victory regardless of the odds.

Whilst he was alone against the rest and only a lvl one he felt he could handle it. Given the enemy didn't murk him in less than a second. Aware that not even his army couldn't help as many adventures fought to keep them at bay. Duth slowly chuckled before raising his hand up. The skeletal bones jagged and sharp, a dark miasma wisping off him, while a glint of an oceanic blue and crimson red pierced the souls of those who dared face him. He spoke in an arcane language. Each syllabi causing the magic users to quake in their boots. "I Am Duth, King Of The Dead! Let Me Guide You To The Afterlife!"

###

Whilst billows of smoke outline the hell within and fiery pillars. The Troops Of The Empire had come to raze the city, and wipe the obstacle off their map.

The city is a major trade route to the kingdom, albeit it's not enough to attract too much attention it's enough for this kingdom and a target to the empire. This troop came from one of many battle fronts, having found a way to get past the borders with troops. Likely bribing or a lapse in border defenses, that said should they raze the city it would cripple the kingdom and allow them for an easy annex. Given the chaos now doesn't drag them into the deepest depths of hell. Certainly isn't far off in their eyes.

Whilst they pondered their move that will decide their fate. Within the city is the rising dead, an Undead Army. A legion at the reigns of their king. Whilst his rise is swift, it will be met with flawed and greater dangers. If he can migrate the swift rise with swiffer gains of true power he may live long enough to realize his goals.

Garlen is a hellhole for many, and soon so will it be nothing more than a ruin. Yet this is merely the start and foreshadowing of a coming apocalypse! Only those who can see within dreams know the causcalismic apocalypse encroaching as we speak!
